    I started to do intercalated "no social media weeks" to really reflect by myself and to reflect about the content I have watched the week before.
    It's impossible to reflect if you are getting input all the time.

    The slippery slope we walk on, not just as consumers of media but creators, is filled with shiny objects and “more” tips, tricks, and tactics.
    It’s easy to binge self improvement just as it is entertainment.
    This spoke to me because the same happens to me. What has always helped is reframing my “why” and eliminating what isn’t directly moving me in that direction.
    It can be as simple as unfollowing a few channels until I’m ready to come back to it.
    Crazy how many similarities we have. I’m also married with 2 kids lol. Also made a video on this topic just recently.
    Best of luck on your journey man! Maybe we can connect sometime if you’re willing.
    Many blessings bro!

    Just learn principles.. Nothing else... And ofcourse.... Observing not attaching with them

      Yeah I couldn’t agree more.
      If you can lock in principles, you’ll find your answer at each roadblock a lot easier

    Couldn’t agree more. And I’ve had a similar experience and it’s at an all time high right now.
    Great point about us loosing sight of what we want for our selves and what success means to us after marking ourselves against the metric of others.
    And all of these entrepreneurial gurus their experiences have been different, they preach different ways too. I think consuming too much of such content also creates chaos. You lose your identity yes but you also start spiraling on what is right and what is not. Ultimately we are the only ones who can decide what a good decision is concerning us

      Wow. This is great insight.
      I hope other ppl read this comment too.
      Everyone is different and that’s a great thing.
      For newbies, this should be the encouragement needed to not feel pressure to blend in and follow exact paths already taken.
      For those that have been in the game for a bit, it’s important to encourage and uplift your audience to be THEIR best. Whatever that is for THEM.
      Even good content can hurt you of your not careful.
      Thanks for taking the time to share thoughts.
      Keep crushin! 🙂

      @@the_evanshank i think adding that bit of encouragement to your content is a great start. It encourages reflection and will probably help reduce the people that experience this.
      Love that you have an approach to help counter this. Good luckk!! 💯💪🏼

    Great video bro. I think learning some of the principles these people teach is very helpful, but you should spend more of your time executing than consuming.

    Appreciate you sharing brother. I feel the same way as you a lot. I curated my feed to be “better” and still sometimes it’s still bad in the end. I think the answer is exactly what you said. Not choosing the right media. But less media in general. We weren’t meant to consume so much content whether it’s good or bad. Appreciate you opening up. Stay the course brother.

    • @the_evanshank
      @the_evanshank  Рік тому +1

      Yeah it’s exactly that “too much of anything….” type of thing.
      I’ve just always seen that
      the more I consume, the less I create.
      And that’s not in the cards for me. I’m driven to keep creating. So the answer as to what I should do to support that aim, becomes very clear.

    it is very overwhelming, and confusing putting importance on achievement and success … usually encouraging leaving behind focus on relationship and memories

    • @the_evanshank
      @the_evanshank  Рік тому

      Yeah it’s def a game of sacrifice. But that’s a part of life right? 🙂

  • @antwuntrademark
    @antwuntrademark Рік тому +1

    I think the answer to this problem would be simply, to delete or just not use social media.
    Because if you do, you'll either compare yourself to people who are "better" than you and you'll have a desire to be better. Or you'll compare yourself to people you are "better" than and that will leave you feeling content.

    • @the_evanshank
      @the_evanshank  Рік тому

      That’s a very good point. Although I know for most ppl, that’s almost not an option in some cases.
      I think it’s about just building the self awareness to know when you should throttle off.
      For some ppl though… giving it up entirely may be the best solution.

    I can definitely relate to most of what you said. On top of that solution i would also seek Jesus. Besides being more successful than them. He is definitely more reachable and Present.
    I do follow this guys a lot and they have great content but you can almost get attach to them after a while

      Couldn’t agree more that you gotta ground yourself in something stable and true. Us humans need solid anchors in our lives. Beliefs and relationships are pivotal. 👍

    You've spoken very well. You can get so lost in they're stuff as they have the things or some of it. At least you have woken up from the trap. Don't be so hard on yourself most of us get caught in the trap and have a similar journey to you.

      Hey thanks for the encouragement - Genuinely. And you're right... a LOT of us (arguably most of us) get sucked into the comparison game way more than we should. It's hard NOT to these days, but the effort is worthwhile. Thanks for your comment 🙂✌️

    I think all this would’ve been easily prevented by simply writing down your goals.
    “Compare yourself to who you were yesterday, not to who someone else is today.” - Jordan Peterson

    • @the_evanshank
      @the_evanshank  Рік тому

      Love the Peterson quote 🙌
      Yeah goals are pivotal. But unless you bake this concept into your goals, most ppl will still get sucked into the content binge without even realizing.
      I’m just staying way more conscious about my consumption.
      Appreciate your thoughts. Thanks for chiming in on it.🙂

    • @the_evanshank
      @the_evanshank  Рік тому

      Haha it can def feel like that at times.
      Sometimes the algo is serving you their similar content too b/c of what you’ve been watching. However this doesn’t negate your point.
      They’d only post once a month if that was best play for them. But… that’s never the case lol 😆
      Am I guilty now too for posting video like these too?! 🫣
      It’s all about personal growth and building that self awareness of what you specifically need.
      🙂
