    I really enjoy watching interviews with Tarja. She is so natural and interesting and quite funny I have to say. I like the way she talkes about her life and herself, her music and career and also how she sees people. She is never unjust, never accusing, always thankful... It is as if there was a golden light shining from her inside. What a lovely person.

    That's a great interview. Her answers were also more elaborated. I guess she liked the questions enough. Usually she only does that is Finnish. I am always amazed at every album how a singer with two decades of career that influenced pretty much all the big symphonic metal singers, a woman with such background even recognized by her country's government, does not just sit on her fame and classical technique but instead keeps massively touring, collaborating, creating on all fronts of music styles and reinventing herself.
    No wonder she has such a devoted fanbase. We are very proud of you Mrs Turunen.

      I like the woman and God knows I have stood by her but I can tell you......Bye Bye Beautiful was in too many ways Apros pos. She can put on a great PR face. However she in personal life has problems.
      For starters she NEVER GOT OVER THAT NW AX JOB. I think had they just had a meeting later and told her and then parted ways it would have been so different. Instead what was the single most special night & concert in that bands history saw the after show with a dozen roses in her dressing room and a note signed by the whole band: YOU ARE FIRED!
      That can affect you and it did her greatly so much that she left metal and never intended to come back. It was my voice blogging and writing articles that pushed her back as I said continually "Tarja Turunen persists in attempting to be a classic opera singer which is a thing she can do and hold her own. However in that field she is basically an average opera singer and way down the ladder to the legends there while as a fem metal singer she is the poster child and icon for that entire genre. She can sing opera yes, but she can excel par excellence at fem metal if she so choses to go back there".
      She struggles to write songs and compose music. Her solo career is average & her style is limited. She needs a band. She needs a song writer. She needs some one to vocally PUSH HER instead of worshiping her. She manages to have moments yes. But considering the bar she attained back with nightwish, in the aftermath she has never quite gotten back there. Everything related to that band seems to be tragically cursed.

    It is so nice listening to her. Such an educated woman, so polite, so enchanting too. It's nice how, in general, all these musicians, like the guys from Nightwish, includig Tarja, now and then, they are very humble and interesting people, at least in an interview. Tarja, a musical godess, of course. And all the talking and debate about NW singers is so futile. They are all great talents.

She was very comfortable in answering the questions. Refreshing that the interviewer didn't bring up the nasty split with Nightwish as some wld have done. And she did end up releasing her new album at the end of August of this yr. So almost exactly as she predicted.

    A couple thoughts.
    1) She is really looking comfortable and that she has not been in awhile. I think her close relationship with Anette Olzon has helped alot as she has another mis-fired fem singer to cross support one another and even from the same guys/band/event.
    2) She is carefully avoiding the current craze started by the band formerly known as nightwish to simply use and discard your female singer just because you can and because you are guys.
    The past couple of years has seen a sudden onslaught of this vocal disease and it seems to matter not how iconic these gals are or how integral to their band they are. This is something at some point I wish she would speak about and maybe begin to champion.
    Back in 2011 floor jansen for whatever reason had begun under the table talks with halopainen and the way that was discovered was that jansen and halopainen had begun this bizarre campaign against Olzon on Twitter. I caught that and began to address it as just wrong. Sharon Adel stumbled onto it and joined me in an anti nightwish campaign which actually resulted in jansen being stuck with nightwish because all the fem singers boycotted that band, I called it the fem band wars of autumn 2011.
    Adel and WT were actually producing Tarja at that time and when deathwish sabotaged Anette they took her on as well and that is how they became as sisters. There was talks of all 3 doing some songs as well as an Anette + Tarja joint tour. OMG. Anette however was very betrayed and needed time. Tarja and Adel did manage a couple of songs both together and also Tarja did a couple with Sabine Edelsbacher of legendary Edenbridge. It was a healing time.
    I know this is a business and is not nearly as commercially wealthy as American pop culture music is so that creates some situations. However in the case of Sirenia, OMG Ailyn was that band in face, body, and style. So what can you say. But as long as Tarja is making progress I guess we all are as well.

    • @Moonlight_shine7
      @Moonlight_shine7 5 років тому +2

      Whaaat? Wait wait... Where did you get the info that jansen and holopainen boicoted anette via Twitter? This is really interesting, because jansen seems to be " closed friend" to tarja.

    • @kevingthompson14
      @kevingthompson14 5 років тому +3

      @@Moonlight_shine7 All that is very old news and you should be able to still find my original news story online if you search. It was picked up by basically every major music and metal publication on the planet.
      Jansen has been eating alot of crow and some other singers are publicly putting on a front because its all about DAMAGE CONTROL at the moment.
      A decade ago before all that crap went down, fem metal was rocketing upwards and dozens of new singers were coming out every month. The entire deathwish fiasco basically killed fem metal. In private almost every female singer has nothing to do with jansen and she has become the celine dion of this era. Dion has not 1 single friend on this earth and it was/is for almost exact same causes among her contemporaries.
      This is an ART FORM & many of these people have worked and practiced from childhood at it. People like jansen think you can just wake up and simply do it. NO YOU CANT. Even if you have a natural gift you just do not go around stepping on the people that worked and sacrificed so much to open doors.
      You do realize that NW is no more right? Jukka retired due to extreme carpel tunnels aka Neil Peart /drummers disease. Empuu is doing a guest star tour. Hietala is doing the same. Halopainen signed a contract to play keyboards feb 2018 for another band that has a singer who sounds exactly like Anette Olzon. Olzons launching of The Dark Element with former Sonata Arctica guitarist and song writer was so critically acclaimed that TH basically just called it quits. That may be subject to change, we will see.
      NW invested reportedly upwards of 1 million EU to crash course jansen vocally with an all star vocal coach team. The only reason she halfway is credible now is all due to this. TH did a similar but MUCH less costly investment in Olzon prior to Imaginarium. Olzon has natural talent but tended to be a ROCKER onstage and literally was constantly rocking/working her way into exhaustion. Her coaching was to help her be under stage control bodily. Jansens was to teach her to sing.
      A few months ago jansen started a new band project called Northward. They released a promo single and video that was SO POOR and so critically refused that Northward may be cancelled.
      I think jansen who formerly had many demons may have made progress with those and I hope so. She was hospitalized for over a year in that regard (circa 2006). She seems to be a nicer person today. That said she single handedly killed fem metal and symphonic metal. People behind the scenes all remember.
      Once you find halopainen with that obscure band as a temp contract player AND NOT maestro extrodinaire with a fem singer total clone of Anette Olzon.......you may laugh yourself into a physical ailment like I did.
      IRONY IS THE CRUELEST OF ALL BITCHES and it bit him hard. I do kinda hate that because the man was a far better music composer than Tarja and for a time Nightwish was the most marvelous of bands.

      @@kevingthompson14 I've been looking for this info over the internet and I couldn't find anything. Man if this is true, you should start a UA-cam channel to expose the truth.
      I know very well holopainen is a childish selfish man, what he did to Tarja is the most stupid idea he could ever done. But after all, he still seen as a wonderful person, but where are the sources of all this info?

    • @kevingthompson14
      @kevingthompson14 5 років тому +1

      @@Moonlight_shine7 THANK YOU. I will give you a brief story so you will know who I am and why. At some point back around 2003 I was dragged into helping my sisters neighbor who did catering gigs. She did catering at music venues around Atlanta Georgia USA which is the music production capital of america.
      There was this event called progpowerusa that was a pain in the butt who- ha that lasted 4 days and had 15-24 bands in this tiny place (1200 persons max). I did that event for about 12 years with or without pay. More years I was an official event volunteer than years I was paid. It was a certain sacrifice + labor of love that gained me a stellar reputation among bands.
      I was doing the entire dressing room assignment management, the band riders (the particular lists that state how a band wants their dressing room and with what items food and otherwise for themselves and guests).
      I also did some sound/acoustical advising, MUCH BAND ADVISING, dining room management. public relations, and band relations.
      In 2004 I met Mark Jansen as he was there days ahead and was sitting in the dining room like a school kid listening to me and the event vets play this most obscure band/song game. One of those guys was a drum tech (Tom) who had done Neal Peart (RUSH) + all the big rock bands of the 1980s. Another guys we call Bear was a stage tech for all those same bands. Mark at some point asked me to tell him about his band what I thought and why. I was brand new to symphonic and fem metal then as most of us were and I told him that which led to my being the personal stage guest for EPICA way back.
      I have advised them several times and am so proud of them. EPICA was my official introduction into fem and/or symphonic metal.
      IN 2011 I took my naked YT channel and relaunched it. Today it is the SINGLE LARGEST MUSIC VIDEO SOURCE ON THE INTERNET! Later that same year I created a sister channel that featured fem metal only. BOTH ARE NON COMMERCIAL and intended as NON PROFIT ARTIST SUPPORT.
      Back then you could post news on your channel page and I did that with all sorts of news items and in fact was the FIRST PERSON ANYWHERE TO RELEASE THE NAME OF THE Nightwish IMAGINARIUM PROJECT + THE PROJECTED RELEASE DATE. I was ground zero then for one of the worst anti campaigns in youtube history UNTIL ALL THAT CAME JUST AS I SAID AND THEN SUDDENLY.....I was THE metal news god.
      If you are interested, my main channel is TOTALLY MUSIC ARTIST CHANNEL. The fem rock/metal one is TOTALLY FEM METAL CHANNEL. I am posting this from there so you can click on channel name link. Other is linked there or simply GOOGLE SEARCH. On main channel I even have a TOTALLY MTV playlist complete with actual MTV launch video and MTV commercials. Its like going back to 80s all over again.
      OH the stuff I know. I try my best to keep only to the positive as these genres are highly less considered then the commercialized pop/rock world is and therefore highly fragile. I LOVE THESE GENRES AND WANT THEM TO CONTINUE AS LONG AS POSSIBLE. That said there has been alot of BS going on as these guys are people. STRESS, travel/touring, not having proper support in many cases, family, bill paying all comes into factor and most of these people have had their bad days/moments.
      None of them as bad as that TABLOID CRAP from the deathwish saga of 2013 that set back fem metal quite a bit. Liv Kristines whatever the hell it was affair with her therapist was a close 2nd. I love Alex and Liv dearly and Leaves Eyes was a very special band. This stuff happens. Sometimes I get angry. Sometimes I just cry. Regardless I STILL LISTEN TO THE MUSIC AND SUPPORT THESE GUYS AS MUCH AS I REASONABLY CAN.

      @@kevingthompson14 Hei! So you are saying Tuomas and Floor schemed in Twitter against Olzon? I love all the Nightwish singers (also Floor), that's why I'm here listening Tarja's interview. I feel horrible if Foor gets isolated by all of her peers, that's a cruel treatment. I watched some time back Nightwish singer Marko singing Ave Maria with Tarja, and it ended with a big hug, they seemed to be in good terms: I was so happy. All this what you tell is newsworthy, what happened in the background with Anette. All I know that she fell ill in the middle of a tour, and Floor was called for replacement. According to Nightwish Anette wasn't fired for the illness nor the fact that she was pregnant, but because the band had different needs that Anette couldn't fill. Could it be that they saw Floor better fitting singer for the band?
      Firing from band though... should that earn boycot and hatred from the music world? If the band sees an opportunity to change their direction or get a talented musician/vocalist, should they do nothing because that slot in the band is already filled? I sure do understand it divides fans and it's a shitty feeling to get fired and also to fire. Anyway, I too, like many others still would read what there is to know. I'm happy to hear that Tarja and Anette are friends, and hoping the best for Anette's career! Cheers from Finland!
