I had this in my last year of football in high school during spring practice. My doctor, team doctor for sports and a surgeon, told me breaking my knee would have been better than what happened. This was in 1973 and my doctor told me sports had ended providing I did not hurt my knee again and I wanted to walk normal. Really, he classified me no more school sports for a year. Ending football and baseball taking me 18 months able to ride a pedal bike again, with some burning pain. I was in bed for two to three weeks having to have my leg in a certain position using pillows in doing so, then crutches not putting weight on my leg for a few weeks, then crutches putting some weight for a couple of weeks. Then the rehab for a long time. Doc was surprised I did not have to have surgery. This was cause for a person not having anyone down field to block on a scrimmage play, being playing defensive tackle. Brionna Jones was guarding her and she is 6'3 215 pounds. That's almost a fifty pound weight difference. I wonder if the injury was partially caused by the weight discrepancy. Most collision sports have weight classes and basketball should consider weight limits if they are going to allow contact. I don't think there should be much contact in basketball since they are playing on an unforgiving hard surface.
The injury had far more to do with Brionna Jones weight, momentum, and leverage on this play than strength. Cam is plenty strong enough to play in the WNBA. She's pretty much the same size, and strength as Aja Wilson, or Ezi Magbegor. She's slim, but wirey. She was doing very well battling for rebounds, and boxing out players before the injury. Dewanna Bonner is 6' 4" and 140 lbs, and has played in the league for 15 years. Brionna Jones was pushing Cam with 2 legs from the side, while also leaning on her trunk heavily. This created a huge amount of force on Cam's 1 leg when it got planted into the floor. Cam also had no leverage, or momentum to counter Jones hitting her from the side because she was driving towards the net perpendicular to how Jones hit her. There is no player in the league that would not get injured if their foot got planted in place behind them, and upper body twisted from being pushed with that amount of force, and leverage sideways. Of the dozens of WNBA games I've watched this year, this play is by far the most physical a defender has gotten with a player driving to the net. oh no, I love watching this amazing woman play, hopefully its not a serious ACL injury, she and CC are the only players I really watch in the WNBA. hoping for the best for her.
Just think about the amount of force your ligaments have to catch in that position. You always hear about how hard it is to move dead weight, like an unconscious or dead body. You have to stop that entire weight while it's moving at 10mph and your foot is anchored. It's wild that knees work at all.
from what waa said , Id guess ACL , and was right , guessIm learning , plus its good to have what is happening on video to watch the mechanism for the injury . know acl injuries are common on this channel but still was fun guessing the injury , hoping she recovers if its torn quickly
Best solely on my observations, for men and women it seems people with her general build are prone to ACL tears. Thin legs without a lot of muscularity and the ratio of the length of the torso to the length of the legs is smaller than other people. Or call them high waisted people. I think it comes down to plain old physics of biomechanical leverages.

Man if I had a Brian Sutterer-isms bingo card set up for this video, I'd have bingo several times over
Now who am I supposed to go see Deadpool & Wolverine with?
WNBA needs Kneesovertoesguy workouts asap. Too many women for too long have had ligament injuries. NBA is already using his program.
will you provide a link, please
Flashback when i tore my ACL, speedy recovery Cameron.
Get well soon ❤
Where is the Mbappe video you posted a day or two ago?
First time seeing your channel. Would love to see you review the video of Liz Kitley's ACL injury to see if you could see evidence of the injury from the footage. Thanks!
Question. Any chance we could get an analysis on injury prevention for someone who’s had multiple lower body surgeries and now runs flat footed? Angel Reese is who I’m talking about.
How often are ACL Sprains/Partial Tears. I’ve almost never heard of any athlete suffering a partial tear, it almost seems like it’s all or nothing
To knowledge a few NBA athletes had partial tears. Spencer Dinwiddie and Thomas Bryant and Terrence Ross (I think)
I remember when khawi got bumped like this against joe ingles. Crazy injury
There is a VERY fine art to attacking the basket while bracing for WHATEVER contact.
This sucks ☹️ thank you for covering this
oh no, I love watching this amazing woman play, hopefully its not a serious ACL injury, she and CC are the only players I really watch in the WNBA. hoping for the best for her.
i injured my acl 2 months ago, looked exactly like this
Rest In Peace Willie Mays
I'll second that sentiment.
Dang! I don't watch it but her and Kelsey 🔥
bro knows what he's doing
Really sad for her. Speedy recovery for the rising All-Star.
The way you explain things I feel like I am Dr with you. So the big question…. When are you running for President! ? Stan Supporter
I hope she will be okay
Even I feel the pain just by watching that sequence 😭
Hey Doc, how many NBA/NFL jerseys do you have? 😅
2nd favorite player 😢
She injured the same knee against Oregon about four months ago I think.
It's the ACL isn't it?
Oh yea buddy. She’ll be back in a year.
Most athletes that suffer ACL injuries aren't the same when they recover.
Just think about the amount of force your ligaments have to catch in that position. You always hear about how hard it is to move dead weight, like an unconscious or dead body. You have to stop that entire weight while it's moving at 10mph and your foot is anchored. It's wild that knees work at all.
from what waa said , Id guess ACL , and was right , guessIm learning , plus its good to have what is happening on video to watch the mechanism for the injury . know acl injuries are common on this channel but still was fun guessing the injury , hoping she recovers if its torn quickly
for the love of god please play the whole injury clip
I hope she is okay. This sucks. Love watching her play ball.
I’m devastated
i am praying for no BleacherReport post saying 'Torn ACL' with Cameron Brink's face behind it
Best of luck to the young lady!
Dang! I was just watching a video on Facebook of her Twirking, too!
Brian can you look into the Aaron Judge HBP?
God bless Cameron
Brinks prayers full recovery ✨I love you Cameron Brinks ✨
what should be done while this cut-in move in order to avoid this ACL tear… it is a every cutter’s final destination ? T.T
Gonna miss her walking in to work like a boss queen❤
