    I also prefer buying my tesla MYP tires from Costco as their tire insurance and rotation are included in the price and often have 150 off michelin tires when you buy 4. Last time, I put 295/35/21 in the back and 275's in the front, and I love the box look.

    I have to be honest, my brother as the MY Performance too and I just couldn't deal with only changing two tires at a time and not traditionally rotating the tires. I just bought the MY LR w/19" wheels, picking up Sat so excited, and I'm glad that I can rotate the tires. I'm trading in a Cadillac XT5 with 60,200 miles on it and I still have the stock tires on it because of rotating the tires every 7500 miles. I don't mind buying all 4 tires at the same time, looks like a set of 4 tires are going to run me about $1200.00 to $1300.00 here in NJ. I'm good with that and hope I can get them to last a good 50k miles due to rotating them every 6500 to 7500 miles.

    Here in SFLA I prefer to buy from Costco and they cover the 6,250 mile rotations. I have a set of lifting pads and do mention to their service that I have my own lifting pads so if they don't have them my car does not get damaged. The Michelin Pilot Sport 4S Summer are the best here for heat and rain. The Pirelli tires that came on the 2022 Model 3 Performance were terrible. I hated them.

    If your channel is intended to offer advice, it seems that you should be more careful to have accurate and good info. There are several ways to get lower insurance prices. Costco is available to most, thentite price is lower and they come free with the insurance. Second, you said the guy at the car show was so knowledgeable and said you didn't need to rotate left to right, but then the guy at the tire shop corrected him. Third, front tires will likely cost less because theyre smaller. So, it wont be $2500, but closer to $2,000 and even less if you go to costco.

    • @TeslaTipsTrips
      @TeslaTipsTrips  2 місяці тому

      We strive to be as accurate as possible, insurance is a loaded question with too many variables. I don't think tire pricing goes by size, or rubber amount. You can buy some really high end tires that are smaller than ours, but far more expensive. Thanks for watching!

    @TeslaTipsTrips I've had my staggered directional tires on my Model Xs "Flip-Rotated" side-to-side at Discount Tire for years. It doesn't work for all types of tires, specifically, asymmetric tires in which one side has to be mounted on the outside of the wheel at all times.

      @pentanotesable Рік тому

      @@IDNHANTU2day yeah, so based on what I can tell the tires are actually going opposite than what they should. There is something called directional wear. So you should probably get that reversed. I’m very happy with my choice

    • @TeslaTipsTrips

      This would make sense, however the tires say ‘Inside’ and ‘Outside’ on them. So this wouldn’t work.

      @@TeslaTipsTrips you posted the manual at 7:44 mark. It says it can increase tread life by changing the direction of the rotation and balancing shoulder wear. So @pentanotesable comment is wrong that it’s important to keep the tires in the same tire rotation if rotating side to side because of the staggered tire setup on MYP.

    I know this is an old video and it probably got addressed in a more recent one, But knowing how other humans are, he is right; it's not the alignment that is causing this, its the rim size. The toe pitch on all of the 21 inch wheels are off. By going down to the 19s this problem goes away. There is a company that sells a kit to fix the issue but you'll have to be confident in your ability to work on cars.

    Nice review. I’ve been “that guy” about the valve caps once. I’m big on aesthetics. I thought the guys may have swiped my shiny ones for the black plastic ones. I was really upset because I thought it was so petty. What I discovered is that the have both on hand and they easily lose them. I quickly apologized for making a big deal out of it. These tires were specifically made for Tesla. They worked together with Tesla’s engineers on these particular tires. The inner wear is due to the way the suspensions camber is set up for the Performance Model. You are absolutely correct about purchasing the warranty from America’s tire. They do an excellent job and will honor the warranty without and drama. Money well spent. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Camber_angle

I watched Tsportline showing a MYP swap out to a 10” TS5 wheel because it weighs 26lbs vs 21” Uberturbine wheel front 38lbs and back 39lbs. This was fugly looking but if you’re trying to increase 20 more miles of range then that’s what you get fugly! Lol
      If anything I would do their 20” TSR wheel 30lbs or 20” TSV wheel 35lbs similar look to Uberturbine so you can keep all 4 tires the same size especially if you really don’t use the Performance of the MYP.
