Great chatting with you, Dave!
Great Show Dave
I also learned a lot. Thanks
If you want to explore this topic further you should in future see if you can get Jason on from Engineering Explained he has some amazing videos out and uses science & math to show how smaller tires are more efficient. Also why EV tires are different to non-EV tires.
Jason. Engineering Explained around 2018/2019, hit a pothole on an Interstate with his M3 Performance with 20" wheels. Took out both right side wheels as I recall. $2800.00. That alone dissuaded me from wheels with less cushioning rubber. YT video still up.
2024 M3 Performance is tantalizing from Kyle's demo. He suggested 18" wheels. It's only money. Excellent discussion gentlemen.
The GOAT
Thanks for the wheel & tire education. So good, I watched twice so nothing missed.
Some guy named “Kyle”!!!! ROFLOL 😂😂😂. Great video as always.
Very interesting. Thanks. Best explanation of tires and efficiency I’ve listened to.
Drew has a little Cameron from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off going on. 😂 Awesome interview!
LOL 💯 Living life to it’s fullest.
Solid caesar haircut!
Another great video Dave ! And thank you to Drew for the very in depth explanation.
Thanks for having Drew. I am picking up my new Model Y Performance tomorrow and selling the wheel set as I live in Telluride and have a narrow window for summer tires and certainly do not need 21” massive rims. Anyone interested? I will be picking up some smaller diameter Martins!
Outstanding show. Just what I needed as I was considering buying new wheels and tires. This answered all my questions! I'll be learning with Dave in the future
One of your best videos - so informative. Thanks Dave.
Can’t beat a bit of tyre chat!! Thanks Dave and Drew. Learned a lot even though I thought I knew a bit of tyre detail.
What is your favourite colour ot tyres
Cool show! Love Martian Wheels!
Thanks for clarifying the differences between All-Season and All-Weather tires. I learned something with Dave today.
It’s wasn’t clear to me on the difference between All Season & All Weather. Is the all weather better in rain & snow? What are strengths of all weather tires?
@@johnpoldo8817 My take from the discussion is that All-Season tires are not good for winter (cold) weather. All-Weather tires are better in those conditions.
@@dpsingh6421 Thank you 😎
Hi Dave! Fantastic video providing detailed explanation of the importance of wheel size/composition - way overdue. Most consumers place blind faith in the manufacturer making the best selection. And putting all the physics aside, I no longer drive around our potholed roads in the NE checking the tire pressure upon each pothole impact (additionally to all the other benefits you and Drew articulated that is provided with a smaller wheel for my type of driving).
Extremely informative.
great information thank you. Now I would love to see one done on tires for tread design and materials for wear and noise level. Can you get a long lasting tire that is very quiet but still performs well in all weather.
Really enjoy your videos and that last comment about doing more of this type, I am waiting for the refresh of the model y and the only “fear” I have is of learning all the different functions and uses of the computer screen in everyday operations of the car. I’d really like to see an in-depth video of how and when to use the screen for everyday driving. Right now I’m not sure I could make the car move if I were sitting in it right now!!😂
This is good info for anyone curious about wheels and setup.
Camber is not only a Tesla issue. I’ve had two experiences where the inside shoulder wore right through to the canvas. BMW 520D tourer rear and Mercedes AMG front. With the modern vehicles having longer service intervals and the fault on the hard to see inside, neither tyre fault was picked up before it became critical.
BTW I now drive EVs and am more observant of tyre wear.
Very good information. Thanks, guys.
Kyle, that other guy, praises Martian wheels all the time. Now I know the science why. Thanks Dave and Drew 🙏 Lotsa lot to all ❤❤❤
Great video Dave and Drew of @martianwheels very informative.👍
I am at 52,000 miles on my model three dual motor long range and I still have some tread life left on my first set of tires..
Increasing inflation pressure helps as they were originally wearing more on the shoulders. Tesla recommended the increase about 8mos. After I increased mine based on observation.
Thank You for All that you are doing for our Planet Earth....
Peace.. Shalom.. Salam.. Namaste
🙏🏻 😊 ✌ ☮ ❤ 🕊
You need *Aerodynamic* wheels to get better range at speed! Kyle Conner literally just said it on MotorTrend InEVitable Podcast! I have examples all over my channel getting 330-340 miles of range out of my 2022 Tesla Model 3 Performance because I put 19-in Aero Wheels and low-rolling resistance tires on it 😎
I bought new tires for my Model 3 long range a couple of months ago. This video was so helpful (I did ok I think, but I'm better prepared for next time). What I haven't done is looked at my efficiency and how it might have changed. Is there anyway to go back in time an get efficiency data to see what if any impact the new tires have?
Pretty informative and entertaining.
Super interesting !
Great vid! Would be helpful if there was chapters for the video
Great information!
Do you need to recalibrate your speedometer when changing the size of tire and can that be done without a service center visit?
I assume rolling resistance affects stopping distance?
Does a 22 inch wheel compared to an 18 inch wheel fitted with the same diameter tires improve the efficiency or do you also need to reduce the diameter of the tire to get the benefit of a smaller wheel?
To prevent air pockets couldn't you cast under a vacuum?
@martianwheels?
Shout out to Ms Bailey Woff-woff❤️
If it’ll hold air it’s good all year round
i like the idea of not having to change tires twice a year, but I find my cheap new all-weather tires produce a lot more road noise. Of course your experience may differ.
Vehicles period I hate this trend of big wheels and big, expensive tires
Has Drew ever met or ran into Ralph Maccio and weird out over seeing his nemesis from the Karete Kid movie?
Come on Dave you’re the OG! Lol
Drew: Everybody buys tires.
Me: I lease every three years and add a wheel and tire deal. I've never bought a tire in 25 years.
how about repairing a nail in a tire..in the tread and in the side wall..
Ev tyres also have foam in them for noise reduction as Ev's are much quieter the other powered cars and trucks
Question: The new Chevy Equinox EV reports a range of 319 miles on the FWD 2LT trim with 19 inch wheels but also 319 miles on the FWD 3LT trim with 21 inch wheels. Is this possible? Doesn't seem to make sense.
If the 21 inch wheel and tire combination is actually lighter, then perhaps it could match or better the 19 inch wheel/tire setup. Of course, this is assuming that the outer circumference of each size tire is equal.
There are different battery options
I like tires
Looks like I posted too soon.
The compressed thing is what Tesla does to its body parts for they cars. So why is he saying they do not do it for their wheels?
1👍
Who the hell is Kyle anyway? 🤔🤣
Just a casual comment. On the East Coast, we use the term "rims," not wheels.
In th dirty south @ th tire store dey wheels
The rim is the edge of the wheel!
Why do dim witted people feel the need to express bs on inconsequential slang terminology? Such as rims/ wheels and evse/ charger. It is all understood without having to make a derogatory comment. Such as this one🌝
@pasoroblesbruce7370 apparently you didn't see my first sentence. I didn't ask for your dim-witted comment.
I thought "rims" referred to licking a butt hole in a circular motion. 🤔
The words "Drew and Interesting" do not go together in any way shape or form. Your content is really lacking lately very repetitive and or boring videos.
Dave ought to block your attendance.
