What I 💓 about CV that we finally get to know about Dracula's relationship with his wife something that the game's Never elaborated on
The only thing that it did elaborate on was that he loved her, other than that, not much else
Tbh I was shocked.
Like yeah, the idea she was involved with the Devil I could see that being something they'd understand, logically as men of God.
But not believing in Dracula when surely, there's been sightings of Supernatural species in their world was odd.
Unless, after the work of the Belmonts and their dispensing, there was so little left that maybe Dracula being a myth actually would've been logical sense
@@thalmoragent9344 Well given what happened to the Belmonts that's most likely what happened. The Belmonts killed so many threats to humanity to the point where people stopped wanting/needing them and turned on them, if my memory serves anyway. So these things fading into myth seems quite logical.

Yeah, Belmonts cleansed so much of Europe, the creatures of the night, Vampires and the like, all suddenly went into deep hiding and, well, became obscure... till Dracula returned

In a way, it's almost poetic. She doesn't plead for her life, but for the lives around her. Even when they mean to burn her for her kindness she still wishes for their safety. She was scared that after all the progress she had with Dracula, to make him see the kindness in humanity, that it would be ripped away by one lone corrupt man.

In my opinion Dracula’s story is a Shakespearean tragedy. An introvert that only wanted to live his life in peace with his family, but the actions of the outside world looking for trouble decided to shatter what life he had and take everything away from him. His wife, burnt without being able to say goodbye a final time, and his son having to proclaim to kill him due conflicting ideologies. I swear, when a show creates a villain as amazing and sympathetic as Dracula, it becomes a masterpiece, and this AMV captures this perfectly.
You forget is the second time it happens to him, remember when he was named mathias he suffered something very similar

Does this also count for Narcissists?
Because there are Villains like Ganondorf for Who Love doesn't seem to have any Value.
Ganondorf sacrifices everything, even himself sometimes, just for the sake of gaining power and plunging all of creation into Chaos and Darkness.
Everything he does is just for himself and his own desires.
And only gets stimulation through blood and combat and showing his dominance.
He cares about no one but himself and about nothing but to bring the World into Darkness.
I don't know if he has a lot of self-love but I am sure he never had a lover
@@Chris-gx1ei Thats because Ganondorf is a terrible villain.
It is more akin to a force of nature with agency, and a personification than an actual person.
If a villain steals candy from a child, for no other reason than because he can. Then he is more a comedic plot device than an actual character.
If a villain steals candy from a child with a purpose, even if a stupid and selfish one. Such as doing it for his own kid. Then he has character, and some semblance of depth to his motivation.
It would be more apt to call Ganondorf a plot device than a character.
A man with nothing to lose is truly dangerous. The voice acting is incredible. "I was traveling, like men do. No more." You can hear the true despair and regret in his voice. I wish they would have made another season.
We're technically getting one. The trailer just came out like a month ago, at most. I think its supposed to follow Trevor and Sypha's grandkids. Not sure. The character teased looks a lot like Sypha but is a guy.
@@williamthomas4769 It's a few generations after that, but Richter Belmont is a true blue badass. Trevor Belmont had the soul but Richter was a combat/magic wielding machine of death.

I also wish we had another season with Trevor and this cast, but I’d rather they end it when they did instead of trying to continue their story. You can’t, as they’re story is completed
“Slowly.” Real seals the fate of his true intentions, no more human experience for him. Only flesh and blood.
*An undead monster... claiming that he must already be dead after almost killing his son. That is really deep.*

Facts. Dracula better than most living people today.
I’m so glad he got one more chance to live with Lisa again.
It's the duality of Dracula that makes him such a likable character. He's an absolute monster but he also has so much humanity in him too.

Netflix Castlevania is a masterpiece. One of the best animated shows there it. Truly a work of art and passion, through and through. And this amv, my friend...was the icing on the cake.
Thanks for telling me where to watch it😁
I could agree with that take but there are some intrigues during the season 3-4 with Trevor Belmont and his girlfriend that were underwhelming for me. But the rest was just gold !
Maybe for the first couple of seasons, definitely not the last 2
Indeed 🙏👏
for me personally the show should have ended after Dracula's death
This version of dracula is fucking badass while being sad too, truly one of the best vampire king we’ve had in cinema
the best dracula in all movies!
Alucard really told him in the end that he was writing the world's longest suicide letter. That resonated with me with how much grief and rage blinded him and then he realized in the end it all lead to him killing the one thing, the one gift, the greatest piece of love she could ever give him. Then that one thing killed him. There's true tragedy in that.
Well Alucard proved him his mother's love for him and to her family. He claims to be a "slave" of his mother's wishes but Alucard is truly a kind person that Vlad could've been should he not resorted to genocide. He is their child and he embodied their hopes. He helped humanity and by allowing a new generation of Belmonts and new scholars to rise up again, he helped the world become better, at least in the context of the castlevania verse.

Honestly this depiction (although it's played at loosely in the games) breaks my fucking heart. Most vampire fiction depicts them as just not giving a shit, we are cattle for their ranch. Dracula tried, not only that he genuinely LOVED her. Not in a sappy rom-com sense, he adored Lisa. She wasn't just some witch/wannabe snake-oil type, she honestly wanted knowledge for the sake of furthering Mankind. She wanted to help people and her convictions not only would have brought about a revolution in human history, It would have given vampires a reason to pause and reconsider human life.
I'm reminded of a 'villain' group I made for a D&D group (I world-build here and there) That on the surface were depicted as feasting on their servants and enthralling villages.
The party descended on the vampire family and were about to raze their estate to the ground when they were faced with a moral quandry:
The villagers showed up not with pitchforks and torches but with basically whatever trophies and trinkets they could spare, begging and pleading for their master's lives if they would take them, leave and never return.
Yes, they are vampires, and they did indeed feed on the villagers. Unfortunately (but very *very* rarely) sometimes people died when their masters fed. However these weren't creatures of the night that preyed on the weak. They were nobles, in fact under their careful eye the lands these villagers worked had seen a golden age of peace.
Bandits were practically non-existent, because the few fools that DID show up and harassed their subjects were torn apart, the subject of the family letting loose and venting their deepest needs to feed on those who would dare harm their subjects.
Monsters of the worst sort were compelled to leave their land via either direct mind magic or unnatural auras the family gave off scaring them away.
When their masters *did* feed on the working class, those that were drained were given time away from their labors and extra rations to recover and rest, they had paid their tithe with their literal blood. In return, the villagers were expected to give enough to pay the lord's taxes and little else. They had no need for gold, in fact many of the noble family took great delight in hunts (akin to medieval European nobility) not just for entertainment but to ensure their villagers had plenty to eat to recover when their own needs came.
That's fookin cool m8
I love grey morality. It shows the world isn't always as simple as black and white.
Sometimes difficult choices must be made, even without certainty.
Especially in the upper echelons of power that determine the fate of so many.
What happened?
The point here is that anything can be a monster and even monsters can have a shred of humanity.
@@loganchase4371Sorry for not responding sooner, the party left them in peace aside from a few tokens (Rings/emblems of the family) as proof of their demise. They continued to reign and near the end of the campaign said family actually helped the party via acts of necromancy to stop the BBEG and taking part in the final battle themselves. Most died protecting their domain and one of the party members actually retired to continue the family domain with the remaining vampire as her consort.
The best version of Dracula.
They perfected the balance of monstrosity and humanity. They explored his philosophical traits and intellect. They gave him a heart without taking away his power. They kept his traditional Dracula-esque design while implementing practicality so he could fight. They cast a brilliant voice actor to make him sound like a king, a husband, a father, and a broken monster.
This version of Dracula is my absolute favorite. Best one I’ve seen yet.
I couldn't agree more.
Graham Mactavish absolutely took the character of Vlad Dracula Tepes to another plane of existence. Beyond this world. It is by far and wide my absolute favorite casting and performance in any animation. Anima or otherwise. I am so upset there won't be more..
He’s an exceptional voice actor, his ability to really draw out raw emotions in his voice alone is pure talent.
Tbh, this is arguably the best rendition of the Dracula story ever told.
Certainly the most sympathetic. You may or may not agree with his actions, but you can certainly understand the emotions that caused the decision.
I absolutely love how you captured his character it was brilliantly done. His story is my favourite part of this series and really loved how you combined her pleas for him to spare them as you have scenes of him killing eveything that was genius also like the music worked very nicely with the show. This was definitely unexpected I'm glad you enjoyed that show definitely up there as one of my favourites so this masterpiece was incredible.💙
I got him into the show. You're welcome. Lol.
Even in the end Dracula was attached to some of the humans... He truly thought of Isaac as his friend, that's wholesome..
"Castlevania" is the best dracula story i have ever seen.
Which involves all factors a story should have magic, love, tragedy, hate, action, thriller, etc. anime lover should watch this... ❤️
This series is amazing. I was wary at first because I grew up with Castlevania but man...this series won me over with the dialogue alone. The creators of this show knocked it out of the park.
The way they did Dracula was glorious, you both fear him yet sympathize with him. And yes he hated all of humanity at that time but; he also spared a few who he saw the good in. Issac, and Hector as examples, along with the old lady at the beginning. I mean he could have let Issac get killed cuz you KNOW he'd go down fighting to protect Draula, hence why he got him out of there, he didnt want another who he considered good to die because of being affiliated with him.
Same, I was sooo worried, but ultimately, I love it, I'm not caught up at the moment, but damn, my heart hurt watching it and I loved every second of that. It's a series done right in my opinion, I could also see some nice spin-offs coming from it.

The VAs for this show did such an amazing job making this an immersive, emotional, badass experience.
Best tribute to dracula
I have many problems with Castlevania, especially season three and four. But there are some things I have to praise or give credit to. The voice acting is one of them and Dracula is the stand out, he has a truly intimidating and commanding tone, while he's not my favorite Dracula voice (that goes to the English dub of Hellsing) he nails it with the emotion. The rage, the despair, the emptiness, the tiredness which comes from depression but when he needs to be intimidating he can do it very well.
Second is Dracula as a character, while Trevor, sypha and Alucard may be cool, it's Dracula who is the true main character and who gets some of the best scenes in the series, he has the most depth. He's a fantastic dracula. There are some really great details with him, a personal favorite is his eyes, the animators really nailed the emptiness that comes from just giving up on everything and sinking into depression, the way he looks past people even while talking to them, the way he flares to life during stuff like threatening Godbrand or meeting Trevor. The series made a fantastic Dracula and killed him far to early.
"killed him"
i felt really dissapointed with the season 3 and especially with season 4 but the first two seasons makes the show. I really wanted a series just for him.
I found Dracula as a character rather weak. Every scene he blames others for his emotions, or others are blamed for his actions, never himself. He has no growth or realisation, unlike the other characters and their arcs.
@@OdysseyHome-Gaming well, he is the antagonist. They’re supposed to not be able to finish their character arc. It’s what makes their ideals unworthy of being the victor

He literally acknowledges how much he fucked up in his last few seconds of life in S2. It's IN THIS video no less, so you have no excuse for that ridiculously ignorant take.
What you just said could basically be said about Darth Vader. If we pretend like his last act didn't happen then Vader looks like an irredeemable monster.
Dracula willingly allows Alucard to impale him, and end the conflict. He had the choice to kill Alucard and he broke down after realizing what he was about to do.
Literally fuck off with that "he has no realization," when that's literally *THE DEFINITION* of what his last moments are before Alucard stabs him.
If THAT isn't "realization," then what the fuck would *you* call it?
This version of Dracula is one of the best ever

.How much time do you reckon that it take him?.
"there are no innocent not anymore!" so sad
I love the sound of his voice when he said "there are no innocents, not anymore" and also when he said "no, we will not act like animals"
chills at 3:18 , every time. syncing up alucard's statement, along with the swelling instrumental.... so, so good.
I think adding the scene where he talks about Alucard as his wife's greatest gift to him would've been an excellent addition to this. It showed that he finally acknowledged how far he had fallen, there he was killing his only son the only thing left of her. All around though this was difficult to get through without getting emotional, great work.
Still watch these now and then. You did an incredible job

People assume this anime as a revenge story.... But from its bottom it is purely a love story....
Man... If anyone is thinking of starting it... Man, don't wait and don't stop until it ends....
It is one of the best anime which was able to persuaded me to believe that even Dracula can be beautiful and loving...🥺🥺🥺
Love it man... ❤❤❤❤
Is it an anime? What constitutes an anime I don’t god damn understand? “Anime” by definition is an animation made in Japan but I’ve heard animated works made in America be described as an “Anime”.
So if “Anime” instead describes a particular way of storytelling then what way is that? I’m not an all knower of films and animation but from the “anime” (Japanese and American) stuff I’ve seen and traditional American animation this does not seem like an “Anime” in terms of storytelling.
The way you overlapped the quotes and scenes and combined them with the music beats really made this video a work of art. Glad my algorithm stumbled upon it, he was my favorite characterization of Dracula and the best part of the series as far as antagonists go, thank you for posting it!
So many people forget that Dracula is at its core a love story and its breaks my heart
"This entire catastrophe has been nothing but history's longest suicide note" - this is soo sad and painful . You created an amazing video that describe Castelvia soo well ❤️❤️❤️
The characters in this show who say Dracula's gone mad, chiefly Isaac and Carmilla, are the ones who've never known true love in their lives. Dracula was never insane, only a man who'd lost everything. To some there's no difference, but those who think that are those who will never understand what it means to care about someone more than you do yourself, and the depths of despair that even the greatest among us can sink to when that someone is taken from them. The one exception among them is Alucard, but even then he couldn't have known the full story or understood the full extent of what his mother meant to his father.
I must already be dead... That line made me cry after 7 years.

Something I noticed. Most of Dracula's scenes are drawn in an angle that make him as if he looks down, either he is joyouss, angry or depressed/ sad. Nice little detail if that's what they wanted to accomplice

I just found this and holy shit this is incredible. I’ve watched it twice already and you really… just show the sheer tragedy of him snapping after she died. I love how he goes from being angry and murderous to sad, but still angry, to everyone around him realizing he died when Lisa did. I feel like I’m not doing a good enough description but seriously… You show how they first met, and how he could have been if she hadn’t died. You blended everything together seamlessly. The voiceovers and music fit perfectly, and this feels like a trailer while it’s also a video of his tragedy. Gosh, Lisa pleading with him to better than them when he’s beating his son to an inch of his life. And it ending with him saying that he wasn’t going to get better without her. 😭😭😭 I love this so much.
I’m hyped for the new stuff with Richter, but I wonder how they’re gonna tie Dracula in. Castlevania without Dracula is…hard to accept, and yet they ended his story in the perfect way.
I’m cautiously optimistic for the future of this series, but Dracula in particular worries me. Like, I want more of him, but unless it’s a prequel I don’t see how they can justify making him the antagonist again.
Great video though, he was absolutely the best character in the first series and seeing him was always a treat, this was a brilliant little summary of his arc.
Great job, it turned out to be a perfect video, very emotional and dramatic. Bravo!
