Mike, my man, you handle the haters so well. I don't know how you do it. Telling them to leave their "helpful" comments is a gracious way of putting it. That was 1-800-SUPERPRO
When doing the trim, it's much easier to do one of the sidetrims first, then the top trim and the last sidetrim. Reason being that starting with both sidetrims results in having to match 2 opposite 45 degree angles. Finishing of with one of the sidetrims instead let you match the 45 degree cut in one end and the easily finecut the length at the 90 degree cut :)
👏 proud that you are trying all this stuff yourself! Tip for the doors. Be sure to caulk around the edges of the door as well as any area with gaps with caulk. Don’t use spackle! it will crack over the years and door caulk will last much longer.
It’s nice to see different ways to do things. It’s not exactly the way I do it but I have a few doors to hand soon and I’ll give some of your methods a try. You never know when you might like another way better. Thanks for the video!
You are awesome ! I wish my daughter and I had watched this before trying to prepare and completely install a door. Oh well, at least now we can do a better job from here on! Love love your instruction talent. Thank You!!😊
It's also a recommended when doing casing to glue your miters. They will be less likely to open as the materials expand and contract with temperature changes. Miter springs clamps are great to clamping the miter while the glue dries.
Great video, you really simplified the process. I've watched several videos, and yours was straight forward, and simple to follow, now to give it as try. Thank you
Bro i am so happy to see someone do a 45 degree cut for the corners it’s like it’s a lost art everyone does straight with a over hang at the top it seems like now
Love the videos I myself and the wife we flip homes are into investment properties I flipped about 10 so far and I’m still learning on how to even do the basics stuff myself and your videos make that possible . I’m a Scared DIYer 😂😂 but I’m learning. But I want to say thank you for making the videos that you do with such great attitude. Keep up the good work
Maybe this tip will help you, or someone reading this comment. I used to put my level on the floor and shim it up like you did, but instead now I just hold my level up across the opening horizontally infront of me and mark a line at each side of the opening. You can then measure from the floor to your lines and itll tell you how out of level the floor is.
Great video, it will be very helpful when we hang some doors next week! May I suggest you get a microphone attached to your collar, as I find it difficult to listen to your videos when I feel like I am being yelled at the whole time lol.
Have you tried the quick hanging door kit? Its only $5 and i had a full door installed and door knob installed within 10 to 15 mins. It was also my first time hanging a door by myself and the doors close like a dream.
I followed this tutorial and the only thing I would change is to install the knobs before you fasten the door knob side. I installed 3 doors and 2 of them were just off enough for the door not to latch.
dont miter the door trim. take a 1/2x6 and do a larger header with a 1/2" overhang of the side trims on each side. this will be more modern and easier to install.
Poor Mike man, his workmanship sucks. If you need a good laugh please watch his load bearing wall removal videos, literally a disaster waiting to happen. 😂
Pro tip. Don’t follow Mikes instructions. Being a Finish Carpenter for over 30 years. It was very painful watching his horrible technique installing the pre hung door. Measure twice cut once. You would not have the big gaps to fill in. Which will crack over time.
I feel your pain. I've been a finish carpenter for over a decade. I just didn't wana say anything because the end result wasn't bad for a DIYer... except no glue on the miters = recipe for disaster later on.

Someone has to take the high road. You will find me on the low road.

I came to this video looking for this answer lol, do you mean caulk behind the trim?
I'm planning to install a skaker door within the next several weeks. I found your video very informative and you showed great enthusiasm. Thanks.
That turned out really good. You explained everything that you were doing perfectly like you are teaching your child .

Very nice and simple demonstration
Nice job! I'll point to this video as the gold standard of how to do this job.

Great timing! I have two doors to replace, and this tutorial will certainly help!

Good to see back so quickly. Great job
Thank you! (I've watched about four other videos and your presentation I found the best and I'm stopping here!)
Thanks! This takes a lot of the guess work out before tackling this for the first time.
One of my favorite series on YT right now. Love the editing and real world building.
Excellent video. Thanks! Keep providing great content like this!
I like this method of door hanging. Will definitely impliment this on my next project.
You’re doing a great job especially for your first flip better than I could that’s for sure

Great job. Vid is short and on point.

Good job and easy to follow!!
When I'm using a level, I'll flip it side for side as the vials may shift over time. If it does, then you split the difference between the flips.
Good job my man 🎉
Thank you so much for this video! I'm going to need it soon!
suggestion... when you paint the rooms make the doors and trim a different color. Say leave them white for contrast to whatever the rooms color is
i love the jingle so much

Yeah, those quick hanging door kits are where it’s at!
Great tips, will be hanging doors soon 👍👍 thanks
good stuff mike
Terrific work on that door Mike! However, there is a much easier way to install the door trim as others have noted below. Keep up the great work! 👍👍
You need the Quick Door Hanger Kit! 5 dollar and 15 mins later the door is good to go!
I need a door like this leading to my upstairs is that a left-handed or right-handed door
3" wider rough opening is meant for 5/4 thick jambs
excellent video. Thanks man

thank you learned a lot
I tired but my wages are to much? Too above hinges are right and bottom. Any tips ?
Great video . Thanks
Great job. Thanks.
Ryobi lovers give a haaaaaaw yeeeeeeeaaaabhh
the bottom gap on the floor is wayyyy to big. Plus, I love to put spray foam behind the casing, provide more isolation and less noise when closing.
Filler, nails etc? Please check how its done in the EU. This is paper stuff fron the US.
Caulk the casing and trim before paint
Nice 👍🏼
Thanks!
This was the most simply complicated Reno video I have seen lol
I don't know if I could use Squarespace.... Dropping Dragons seems pretty mean....
Cue the hung jokes. :)
Same thing she said
Nice Video. Thanks for the SUPER PRO TIPS. JUST LIKE A SUPER PRO.

Why does he sound like Mandark from Dexter's Laboratory when he's narrating... I can't unhear it, send help!
It would be nice if landlords could watch these videos

Just going to be a lot more noise coming through the door now

150 grit? Gees! Rough as a cob.
Um thats not an 18 gauge nail gun though? It's a 16 gauge.
Oh boy, I look like I'm walking into a haunted house, a stark white house.
Awful
This is not good at all🤯☠️
