  • Welcome to a review of kit number 6644 by Dragon. In this video I cover the finished model kit - post assembly - and explain how well the kit went together, the quality of parts and instructions, and any issues that occurred during assembly. I also cover a few minor improvements I made to the tank as well as which kit-supplied options I went with and why.

    DISCLAIMER: I am not paid to promote any specific products or brands; I just use the products I find work best for me through my experiences. There is no reason for me to promote a bad product, as then I would not enjoy using it, not like the result on my model, and not be proud of publicizing it in a video. There's also no point in me doing this to keep up relations with a company if the only benefit would be getting more of the same products that I didn't like. I have not used every product out there, but from what I have used, I keep using the products I like, and that's why I use them in my videos. You can use whatever other products you would like to and you can feel that they are better - that is your opinion, and is perfectly fine by me, thus I hope that feeling is reciprocated.

    Great kit, I am a huge fan of dragon's kits as i always know they're going to be quality, looks like a really clean build you've got there, and if its going to turn out like your other stug, It should be a showstopper!!!
    Keep up the good work!

    You can make your antennas by yourself. by cutting about an 8 inch long straight part of sprue, and heat it from the middle with a candle and then pull fast from both ends, stay still and let it cool, and boom, you can cut off your very own antenna

      Hahaha! :D
      Nor do mine! I've worked on 15 kits in total since the beginning of June. Far from all of them are StuG's but a few are. I just wish all of those kits were done, which they aren't, so I've made a deal with myself to finish half of them before I begin working on the Dragon StuG - but no promises... ;)

      On the F/8 that vent is located on the roof. The thing I made there is part of the intercom or something...it's where the vent is on a StuG G.

    Thanks for all your amazing content, Panzermeister. You've inspired me to pick up scale modeling again after like... 10 years of 40k? Gotta ask--what's your favorite StuG III kit? I was going to buy Dragon as a matter of course but I'm surprised to hear they're not a watchword for quality anymore.

    • @Panzermeister36

      +Tom Krug Dragon StuG III kits are quite good. Most of these kits were released before Dragon went downhill. Tamiya's StuG III Ausf.B kit is also excellent.

    Returning here… in 2021 Anno Domini… this 6644 kit may only be found on eBay for an obtuse price of $161.xx USD and ships from China (which means it will be poorly packaged and thus likely to be delivered in a damaged state). I know this firsthand for I made such a purchase eight months ago and “China sellers” do not offer refunds when they ship their model kits wrapped in black plastic trash bag (

    beautiful clean build. I see you've added on the weld seam to the recupirator and thinned down the tool clamps! Your welcome! LOL. Thanks for the menchi. On StuG F/8s and Gs, there should only be radios on both sides if it's a command vehicle. If you can get your hands on that other StuG book that I showed you, the Japanese one.....get it. Ask your mom n dad for Xmas! Some of the Japanese or Chinese retailers will have it. Loved the build, loved the video and especially loved the ausf G in the video. Awesome. Only one thing.....and I don't have my references to hand.....I think the f/8 should have the earlier pressed steel rear light, not the tubular one, but I could be wrong. Just a heads up to check it. kutgw. Love it.

    • @Panzermeister36
      @Panzermeister36  7 років тому +1

      Hey Stevie! Yes your advice and the book were super helpful :D What replaced the radios on non-command tanks? more ammo? The radios look super cool so I'm keeping them though haha! I will check to see about that light. They offer both in the kit but I'm pretty sure they tell you to go with this one, but I don't know if it's right either. Hard to tell: www.bpmodels.net/Model/StugIIIF8/DAKStug1.JPG

    • @steviegibson5847
      @steviegibson5847 7 років тому

      Hi Evan.....tthanx for the menchi on youtube The radios are OK in the ausf f/8 as it is a command tank with two ariel's, but just thought I'd let you know for the future. Nothing replaced them.....just an empty space. Maybe some crew stowage and bits n bobs. I think in that timeframe it should have the other rear light.

    • @steviegibson5847

    Modifications read this mate about the re relised 2019 ausf B what spares are in this box this Fa8 is missing!
    F8 sprues are in the re relised 2019 stug ausf B I'm building just now this kit has sprues from every damb kit in the box but an ausf B lol nothing is marked ausf A or ausf B it's crazy! But got loads of fantastic spare sprues the plastic part fornthe periscope gaurd is there and or a solid cover it looks and loads n loads radio's n power block's all them antennas and different Mount's just nothings used think it's just 1 thing used off the sprue it's a nightmare of an instruction book lucky built couple Dragon stugs now to know what's what but if never this kit's suspension would be all back to front n upside-down if you followed instructions lol! All the AMMO racks that are missing are in this kit though o could probably build an accurate F8 from the stug ausf B kit bud! Everything is here if your looking to build another? There is also a driver compartment partial interior it looks like with the driver seat and leavers! I'm trying to find what kit had this sonic can get it set up in the usef B I'm building its on another lovely spare sprue from an ausf E with the driver compa interior and all the AMMO racks stowage your missing here along with a couple other types! Honestly get the re relised ausf B kit you'll absolutely be amazed what's in this box not used that can make some amazing builds!

    What do you think is the best 1/35 ( long barreled) stug kit? Most accurate and detailed?

  • @MasterTRL
    @MasterTRL 7 років тому

    Awesome review! I would actually trust myself with building this model. At this point however, it would be a waste because i would probably mess up the weathering and ruin the whole thing. But once i got at least a moderate level of weathering down with some cheaper and smaller kits, i will do this one for sure. Mostly because i love me some stugs but since you only had good things to say about the quality i don´t see why my first "serious" model after what i consider to be still training shouldn´t be this very model. Thanks!

    • @Panzermeister36
      @Panzermeister36  7 років тому +1

      I would seriously recommend this kit. It is awesome! StuGs are my favourite tank as well, so that makes this kit doubly good :)

    • @MasterTRL
      @MasterTRL 7 років тому

      How much time did you actually spend building this one? Like how many hours? And how long for the paint and finish?

    • @Panzermeister36
      @Panzermeister36  7 років тому +1

      Sorry I don't exactly remember, but it wasn't too long or tedious. an enjoyable build over a few weekends. As for painting and weathering, that was a long time. I had at least 5 hours of raw video for the Standard Weathering Procedure video and that was only ever filming each process over a few locations on the tank. probably 30 hours for painting and weathering at least...which is probably more than it took to build. But it was really fun!

      10 is quite a lot.... but the three that come to memory are this kit, Trumpeter's T-62 ERA, and Dragon's Marder III Ausf.M.
      But Dragon's Panzer IV, Panzer III, and StuG III kits are all quite good in general, and I will always enjoy building any of those.

    Excellent! But why are you using a blade to point? One drop and you might have some unfortunate accident with your model. You worked hard on it, be nice to it. Lol! All jokes aside, great stuff, Evan. You have contributed much to this hobby with your channel. Model on, and do well in school!
