- What if? I always ask that when I listen to Mother Love Bone, Would Andrew Wood have sung “Release" or "Why go"? Would that TEN album have been the next MLB album? I remember sitting in Lonn Friend’s @instadude74 office when he got the Call that Andrew Wood had Died. I couldn’t believe it, WTF?? I thought that band was going to have a long career...well some of them did. What A great album; to this day it's one of my favorites. The Chloe/Crown Of Thorns song is a stand out, it's so perfect. A few years ago I did a version of Chloe Dancer with Mark Osegueda @bonsloth and Mark Menghi @markmenghi at a @metalallegiance show. I think they both capture the feel and emotion on this song . I always thought I never really finished or felt fulfilled and I wanted to do a better cover of it. Since I've been doing these jams this song has always been on my mind. I get goosebumps when I play it, it's weird and emotional. I hope you Dig it! Thanks to @andylagis and @dlevanchuk for their awesome ears and eyes @roland.artists @ikguitarist @headrushfx @officialtamadrums @paistecymbals

Amazing cover of an incredible song. Charlie has won 2020 musically with these collaborations. Hands down.
Yes Sir
Charlie has not raised the bar. He’s created a new bar that’s not going to be reached by others. I’m so far beyond amazed by his skills, abilities, and appreciation of numerous arts!!!
Im blown away. Mark Osgueda is so underrated
Lifelong Seattlite here. This was the last cover I expected to hear from anyone, much less Charlie Benante, but what a pleasant surprise. Salute!
Same here, brother. Born and raised. MLB fan till the day I die and this just fucking WRECKED me.
You made cry. It's beautiful ❤️
The best thing to come out of 2020 is this channel right here and these top notch collaborations . Awesome! Thank you.
Agree 100%
Amen Agree 🙏❤️❤️
Couldn't of said it better....thats why i didnt bother trying 😆
Out of great difficulty, goodness always arises. What a blessing these performances have been for me. I would have never discovered them otherwise...your music is good medicine.
Mr.Benante was always one of my drumming heroes.
Aged 16, I was in awe at seeing him live in Belfast, Ireland, in 1987.
In 2021, aged 50, I am still in awe.
A true, down to earth legend. 👍
Charlie - clearly you're the soul of Anthrax. I'm amazed not only at the quality of these covers, but the selections themselves. And the musician pairings are ideal. You're a super talented musician with a killer ear for great music. Thank you for sharing all of these during these strange times. So good.
yes mate he is smashing it x
Had this Mother Love Bone album on cassette back in the day. Long before anyone had heard of them(where I lived) and before Grunge broke big. GREAT album!!! Rest in Peace Andrew Wood...gone to soon.
Charlie, thank you for honoring Andrew's legacy.
An amazing cover of a one of a kind song!!! This cover is performed exceptionally!!!!
What versatility of Mr. Osegueda!
And not to mention Mr. Benante!
My total respect!
Mother Love Bone RULES
Goosebumps🥰. This is my favorite Mother Love Bone song and you guys nailed it. Fantastic tribute❤️. I’m not crying, you’re crying. Thank you gentlemen.
Yes, Yes I am crying 😢
Damned right! I know it’s corny, but “Fall to Pieces” does that to me almost every time. Like almost every single motherfucking time. My current (2nd) wife is the recipient of that one for me. Not that I was an addict on the verge of death, but came from a divorce that crushed me not because of the simple failure and loss of love, but how it would affect my two daughters for the rest of their lives, and how they would (or wouldn’t) reconcile the disparate traits versus what had been believed as real, maybe forever questioning truth and perception and the force of self needed to face things, however small in some eyes, or insurmountable in others’. That I would forever be part and parcel to a severe strain on two young girls of my own making has and will forever try to break me. But my girl Jane was really, really there for me (fucking shit I fuckng hate that cliche) when I really wasn’t sure how to make myself just deal instead of dwell. You’re crying asshole. Give me that box of tissue pencil dick! Yeah, all good here. Eat shit. Yeah I rant. That shit is real. Great song and impressive newfound respect I have for Mr. Benante. Rusty Cage was awesome and I’m a huge Soundgarden fan. And their new singer, good god, I liked AIC as much as anyone else, some very good songs, obviously iconic, but never would say I thought.....well if you never pull out a band’s music, then you definitely don’t put them at the front of the lineup of favorites, and you might play that Level 42 song, “Something About You” twice a day every day, it doesn’t mean it’s you’re favorite band by any means. But that dude, just re-looked up his name, William Duval, is truly gifted. The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here is easily my favorite Alice in Chains album, no question, makes all of the other ones seem cheap, and I mean ALL of AIC’s previous works, by several times over. Beginning to End, that album reminded me that they should have called it the Cantrell Project with a special guest singer. That shit is heavy as fuck, riffage to be sacrificed by, and so much feel it drips in the air around you. And “Phantom Limb” near the end just when you though all that could be left was filler and wrap ups accepted by everyone involved to really just get it out there, that track is so ominous, so anticipation inducing, so percussively accurate to the feel of the subject of the song, how do these guys keep doing it? Is Jerry Cantrell God? Some say that. Ie thing’s for sure though, that mofo puts so much inflective drama in each very long whole note it makes you wanna go to the Mississippi Delta and declare, “hey guys! THIS is swampy blues!” Turned to twelve. It’s all in the feel/swing/stick/cadence/thickassatmosphere that dude owns, like the devil really did hand Cantrell that touch.
Yeah. No, you’re freaking out! Chill.
@@andrewhigdon8346 A Rambling man. Just like me.
CHEERS!👍
The younger minded ones are terrified, it seems, by anyone writing more than the screen shows, lol.
It's politically incorrect. And, an even better reason to "go for it"!
Reading has become a chore, I guess?
Sounds like you've done a great job, by your concerns for the children foremost. You've been through a lot, and have steered the ship well, it sounds.
I hope there's much more laughter in your life, as that's the best medicine! But we couldn't laugh as hard, if we haven't had sadness in our lives.
Many blessings to you and yours, my friend!👍
Amazing cover, Charlie’s talents are endless and Mark’s vocals are perfect. And I want that murder in the front row poster 🤘❤️🤘
Had the pleasure to Hear Andrew play this in the writing stage at a party on Bainbridge ISLAND...asked him is that yours...THE REST is History...Great Job.
.!!!!
This isn't just good to listen to, this is good for your soul.
It's like malt-o-meal for ya. It's good for ya. It's like soup. It's nothing bad let me tell you that much.
You gotta admit that Charlie and his crew have a great appreciation for music in general, have to tip our collective hats off to these guys. That being said if he covers a Hüsker Dü track I can die in peace. The talent is endless with these cool cats.
Hitting "Like" just doesn't seem enough. I can't describe how happy this amazing cover had made me right now. Thank you gentlemen!
I think the Benante triplets should start a band!
Multiplicity Benate
Every time I hear someone cover a MLB song I always cringe but you guys absolutely nailed it!
Absolutely an amazing cover. Mr Wood would be proud
I live in Oregon and within a span of 2 years I saw MLB at the Satyricon (a block away from where I saw Anthrax for the first time - Starry Night) Mookie Blaylock supporting AIC and then the 10 release party again at the Satyricon. I am a Northwest metalhead and fully embraced the ethos, attitude, and spirit that the dreaded G word represented. While New York and San Francisco had punk and hardcore ingrained in the culture already, we had grunge. Thank you Charlie for posting this and ALL of the videos over the past few months, they have been a true respite for me.
D B the Mookie Blaylock/AIC is history. You knew shit was about to happen. I let Eddie Vedder cut in line to pee. He told me “the singer” from Alice had smashed the toilet backstage. I don’t know how many hundreds of bands I saw at Satyricon but I probably played there a dozen times. Mother Love Bone... *sigh*...
@@CatharticusX what groups were you in? I probably saw you perform a few times. Layne smashing toilets, funny. Was that the melody ballroom? I was at the Nirvana New Year eve show, Cobain was next to me at the troth barely awake. Must be something about bathrooms that bother them.
Side note, was at a show at the Blue Gallery and was sitting up front next to a really tall guy who wanted Taco Bell really bad. Told him the closest one was over the bridge but I would take him if he bought me grub. Ended up being Krist Novoselic and he bought me tacos. Think it was late 89 early 90
@@CatharticusX PS, yes there was something different about that AIC Mookie Blaylock show that just felt like everything was about to blow up. I just remember getting there and thinking wow a line to get in?
Oregon as well. I can't wait to go to a concert again!
I'm in Phoenix now but it brings me great joy and memories to hear of the Starry Night. Saw slayer there for South of Heaven
This is one of the best covers I've ever heard, and I'm not even a big Mother Love Bone fan. Charlie is so talented and Mark is a fucking great singer.
Wow. This song connects me to a very special time and hearing this interpretation brings tears to my eyes. Beautiful stuff.
Rest In Paradise Andrew Wood. His vocals where like No Other... Still listen to this track weekly. Thank you for doing this...
I'm super close with xana. Played this with her today. She cried
@@afterforever71 Xana La Fuente, I personally Thank her for being her. With her this song probably would've never been written nor recorded... Send my love to her please....
Absolutely
Chloe Dancer is one of the most beauty songs ever.
@@Chris-fd9sg man of golden words but yes wood and his vocals
I've always loved this MLB track. Charlie, Mark and Mark hit it out of the park with this cover!
What a GREAT cover!!
I’m a big Landrew fan,... so I’m always critical of anyone singing his songs.
But this was Beautiful ❣️
RIP ANDREW WOOD
🥀
the love child!!!
Update...I kept listening to this song and each time made me tear up a little bit more. I finally broke down in traffic yesterday listening to this in florence kentucky. I dnt know why I did, I just did. The piano at the beginning just connects to me. I just needed a release. Crying is the best medicine. Just cry and heal yourself!!!!
@Charlie Benante - the entire performance is killer. You cover so much ground with drums, keys and multiple guitar parts, but what strikes me the most is Mark Osegueda's capturing the sound of Andrew. I mean he really had the feel and the vibe. Didn't sound strained for forced. Combined with the rest of you all, if felt and sounded awesome. Even though I'm a metal guy, MLB are home town heroes for me and you all MORE than did them justice!
Just came across this...blown away. Best cover I've heard of this song that's haunted me for nearly 30 years.
Back in the day Scott Ian said of Charlie "He's probably a better guitarist than me and Danny (Spitz) both." Don't remember the magazine but always knew Charlie had some guitar chops and contributed major to songwriting and arrangements! These things you're putting together are like manna from heaven sir...keep 'em coming.
He also did the guitar solos for SOD songs
Charlie once made the claim that he for the most part told or showed Dan Spitz what he wanted him to play on the leads for those early Anthrax albums. Dan Spitz fired back calling bs and then throwing out all this guitarist terminology and asking Charlie "so what scales did I usr on" x solo trying to prove his point. Since then I've seen multiple videos of Charlie playing guitar and honestly have to believe Charlie's version, he is a true musician, seems he can play everything and play it well.
I think it was when Sound of White Noise came out.
@@ea9623 Yup. Where Milano goes "Charlie!!"
He writes pretty much everything for Anthrax and has since 84.
Damn Charlie this cover is mega. MLB’s masterpiece.
Best cover of MLB I've ever heard! This band stands the test of time. Andrew Wood was way ahead of his time.
All of these songs are remarkable in there own way. This one just hits kind of different. In a special kind of way.
Great job on a song that has a lot of meaning for a lot of people.
Love the Schenker "V"
The one, the only.. Mr. Schenker!!
A total masterpiece!! Thank you for getting all of us through the lockdown, Charlie & friends!
Here I thought I was the only nerd that wondered if Andrew lived what he would have sound like on some of the music from 10. I would have loved to hear him sing "Deep"... Music is the best because every time I hear this song I cry. Those strange vibrations called sounds, it's amazing what they do to your inner soul!
interesting...
In my opinion the MLB/PJ story can be summarised with the words "When something beautiful dies another beautiful thing is born." If things didn't go the way they did we wouldn't have had Release or Why Go. Or at least not in the form we know them now. Stone and Jeff deserve much respect for managing to keep going and deliver music that found its way in many people's hearts. And you deserve respect for this heartwarming tribute to the great Andy Wood.
Then they let.. Eddie take control...lol
@@22ucespatriotwarrior88 wrote that as if they stopped writing masterpieces afterwards
MLB wow I didn't think anyone remembered them. I have a tear in my eye. Thanks Charlie
So many bitter sweet memories, for me, behind this song..... and it just keeps pulling at my heartstrings........ Thanks for covering this!!!!! Right now, Andy is smiling from the clouds 🌫
That was amazing. Your love for music of all types have made your videos so great during this rough time. Keep 'em coming, Charlie!
Outstanding! Best song from Singles soundtrack! Killer performance leaving everyone teary eyed. Talented superstars here! Mark’s vocals...just wow! 🤘
This is amazing!!!! Charlie, I've been a fan of Anthrax since the 80's and you're one of my favorite drummers - I even use your signature sticks from Vic Firth. I've always known you were talented on multiple instruments, but this one exceeded everything I've even known you were capable of. Incredible job and thank you for this one. I often ask myself "what if" had certain artist still been with us today.
I always get misty eyed and bit choked up when I hear this song. Great cover. Thank you.
My God... The best tribute Andrew Wood could ever had... I'm in tears...
Such powerful song! Thank you Carlie and Co. for playing this otherwordly tune that always "gets me" everytime I hear it!. Respect to all: Charlie, Mark and Mark.
All these songs you are doing are killer. If you released an album of them I would buy all of them in a heartbeat
Didnt think Charlie could surprise me anymore and then he plays masterfully on piano!
Kudos
Never heard this tune before!
Dig it!
MLB had some great songs and influenced a lot of the other bands that came out of the Seattle area. Worth checking them out.
The Insane Shecklador Thank you. I will.
This is great! Not many people know that Charlie can do it all. He even had some great coffee on the MegaCruise!
THIS........JUST FUCKING AMAZING....Mark as a vocalist is EXTREMELY UNDERRATED.... HANDS DOWN the BEST YET... INCREDIBLE.
Mind blowing cover. Mark is channeling Andy Wood's voice perfectly. Simply amazing.
Always loved this Mother Love Bone track. RIP Andrew Wood. This is an amazing cover.
Andrew Wood is living through Osegueda ... I never thought he can be that close to the great original
Hats off to everyone but especially Mark Osegueda for doing a great job on the vocals...outstanding versatility
I am in tears. I just found this. That y'all chose to cover this song specifically, that speaks a lot. It was incredibly moving. I appreciate that you showed the mural as well, as well as played a snippet of the riff from Release. I can only assume that was either y'all playing it, or an early recording of tue riff when it was still a MLB riff. Much respect.
That song made me self reflect. Only good songs played by real musician's can do that. Perfect cover guys.
Charlie your The Man this is awesome, my favorite tune from these guys ....good to know a bonafide thrasher digs it.🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
DAMN!! I loved this, Andrew would be honored. Mark and Death Angel are one of my favorite bands along with Anthrax. Charlie, holy crap what a musician!!!
Release this, and Release, as a single Charlie.
Mark, That was a great show all of the bands put on last february here in Helsinki,
Fkn great old school metal show at the Circus!
This is absolutely flawless.
Amazing cover of one of the most mesmerizing songs ever written
Thank you Charlie. That is my favorite song of all time. Beautifully performed. Couldn't have asked for anything more. Thank you thank you thank you
Wow!! Great band and great song. RIP Andrew Wood, gone but never forgotten 🙏🏼
Amazing performance all of you. Rip Andrew and Chester, Chris, layne, Scott so many others as well. My ex wanted to name one of our twins after this song. I said NO!!! that was almost 26yrs ago. This sounds PERFECT. Awesome job n editing camera angles really cool. Nice collaboration👍💜🎼🎸🥁🎤🔥🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🤘keep rockn n stay safe🤘brings back memmories.....😪
I am blown away at marks voice on this song if Andrew was still alive he would be proud of all of you...And Charlie along multiple instruments awsome...
Amazing. I never knew Charlie could play piano and guitar as well. The singer absolutely nails it as well.
Hairs on the back of my neck stood up as the vocals came in. This is authentic as it comes. Kudos and love to you Charlie x
Fucking amazing! I love the way this song just pulls emotions right out of you and sets them free. Great job guys.
What a cover… I have no words. ❤️
That was Fucking BEAUTIFUL. Truly. Thank you.
Awesome dudes! Love this tune. Thanks Charlie!
great cover , i love mother love bone , good choice
Goddamn it guys, this is not fair. I can't be weeping when I'm trying to work! F*cking brilliant as always, but this is extra special---thank you.
Mother Love Bone is was of the most under appreciated bands in modern rock history. This is a fantastic cover.
I can't articulate how awesome you all are.
I mean, seriously! Holy shit! WTF?
How dare you all be that talented!
Love Bone is one of my favorite bands ever. I’m From the PNW and came up in the “grunge” scene. Have hated every cover of MLB I’ve ever heard, But this is FUCKING AMAZING!!! AMAZEBALLS. Great job
Absolutely amazing Charlie. For me this is worlds colliding. Two of my musical influences covering one of my other musical influences. This is like mega-nostalgic and brings up a lot of emotions. Thank you guys for taking the time to record this and share this with us all.
Charlie delivers again.
Marks vocals fit like a glove.
A beautiful song done incredibly well.
This is so great !! Damn I really thought people had forgotten about Mother Love Bone. I never did and I'm glad you didn't either. Beautiful rendition !!!! Perfect !!!!
You can’t ever forget MLB!!
Charles and company...I kneel before thee...this a moment in life for me song....and you gents knowing and understanding the awesomeness of this tune is mind fucking blowing...great vocals and sync with instruments....just fan fucking static....
It's amazing, metal musicians play a classic grunge song. A great tribute for Andrew Wood
absolutely phenomenal
dont brown your britches.... woman....
just kid'n this is amazing and the 13 yr old me that loves SOD never saw this coming but Im glad it exists today! its inspiring! Charlie has been blowin me away with skills and open minded collabs since Im the man!
Wow I thought I was the only one that loved this song all these years!
such a great track, and an amazing version that's close to the original. That piano intro is hair-on-end stuff, and Mark's vocals are incredible. Definitely the most underrated singer in thrash.
I remember interviewing Frankie Bello at an Anthrax show in Nottingham in the mid 90's - the band didn't sound check but Charlie was sat on the stage playing Kings X riffs. I nearly enjoyed that as much as the gig iteslf
I love the way this song just builds and builds. Epic.
Awesome cover. Andrew Wood would be proud!
Brought a tear to my eye! Such a lovely tribute!
Well done Charlie. This song, Landrew and the Shine EP all equally amazing.
To say I am smitten with MLB is a tragic understatement as from the first time I heard the Wood brothers and Malfunkshun I was hooked.
That 2nd line in the 1st verse, "Chloe is just like me, only beautiful", always resonates deeply with me. Andrew Wood was a talent to powerful for this time and place. I am a bit gobsmacked that you were a MLB fanboy but everyone should be right?
Last thought, a day I don't listen to any MLB is a sad day indeed...
This is just fuc%$n awesome!! Such a great song. Thank you Charlie for sharing this. ❤
Never expected a cover of this song by thrash legends!!!
FUCKING AMAZING!!! Great cover, great song, great vocalist and Mr.Benante just proves how talented he is over and over again
this is pretty much perfect. Charlie has never disappointed
Never knew Charlie was multi-talented. Rock on! 🤘
Good Lord I am getting old, I remember playing the Singles soundtrack so much I drove my friends mad...
Charlie's the Man! Thanks for being in my life since my childhood! Your music brings so much good memories. 🤘
My tears came out when I first saw this one. Thank you for that. Mark and Mother Love Bone... kinda unexpected surprise. Great job guys. Temple Of The Dog - possible?
Bringing the tears 😢 Beautiful. Thank you!!!!
I just discovered this song in 2021!! These guys sound amazing!!! Great tribute to a great band and gone too early singer!! Nice work you guys!! Super talented bunch!!
Another great cover. Mark’s the man.
Ok, this has me in tears! Andrew Wood/MLB is my FAVE and this is giving me all sorts of major feels. ABSOLUTELY PERFECT! Thank you, SO much for this gift. Love Charlie gushing HARD for our man, Andrew, in the blabbermouth article. RIP, Beautiful One!
Killer job Charlie! Mark nailed it!
Nailed it. Dude sounds so much like Andrew. Great job guys.
