Hi Dansky. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us. I use this as a starting point to recreate it from scratch, trying to get used to the techniques you are showing in your videos. Very helpful content for beginners. Have a good time and be well! 🍀
Why not make one peace and turn and copy this one twice? (120° of course! This goes as well for your gradients. Trial and error is not necessary) Or the shape-builder.
Nice work. Took me a while to find a tutorial that was easy to follow and very informative. Using this to build a logo for a client and it's coming along nicely. Thank you so much for this.
Hey Luka. It depends on the logo design and where it's going to be used. Ideally it's always a good idea to create or at least consider mono concepts when creating a logo. A good example would be the previous Instagram logo (before they redesigned it in 2016), lot's of shading and detail yet still hugely successful as the brand's highly recognisable logomark.
Great stuff mate, i just wanted to ask what unit do i need to select to create a new document if i'm going to create simple logos for clans (as i've been using pixels in PS)? and what color format? CYMK or RGB? New to illustrator.
Hey there! If the logos will be for websites and be displayed on-screen specifically, when creating a new document select Pixels as the 'Units', 72 dpi as the 'Raster Effects' and RGB as the 'Color Mode' - hope this helps :)
Hello Can I ask what command to press to select the moon shape and to put it on the other side of the circle because when i do it,the circle keep moving on the other part. not the moon :(
Hi, am currently watching this video, but I can't seem to get how you cut out the crescents individually from the entire group. Also, how you use the align tool to bring the blue crescent down to the right side.
Hey +Dansky thanks for sharing your skills with us, you're helping me a lot! How to use that Shape Builder tool some people commented here in substitution of Pathfinder? I'm a little bit new in Illustrator (I came from Corel) and I didn't get that command yet. I have the CC version as well.
LockDoesGaming & More Yea you can use the Direct Selection Tool to drag over it click each anchor point individually. Then hit delete/backspace to remove. Hope this helps :)
It is because when you trim shapes with the Pathfinder all the pieces are grouped. The best way to "clean" those left overs is to ungroup the shapes (select, Right Click and Ungroup), select your shape, cut it with Ctrl + X, erase all the left over points and lines, go to Edit and paste in place, and your clean shape will be right back at it!
3:33 you lost me here, I'm doing the exact same steps and it doesn't come out like that. How do I get rid of those anchor points after subtracting the yellow shape?
The best way to remove those anchor points residue is to select the shape, go to Object, Ungroup (or Right Click and Ungroup) then select your shape again (only the shape), cut it with Ctrl + X, erase the anchor points, then go to Edit, Paste in Place and you get your clean shape right back!
i found the answer by googling, select shape and use short cuts as cmd+] or cmd+[ if you have mac) on windows instead of cmnd i guess contr should be used)
why do not you put in the screen how you use the shortcuts, I really can not follow especially that I speak not too good English this tutorial could have been sincerely better next time written on the screen the different shortcuts
God bless all your works!!

I'm not joking... these tutorials are brilliant and really helping me with my skills. Please keep it up.
Awesome thanks Luke, will do :)
Another useful tutorial. I'd recommend using the divide pathfinder, though, instead of copying the shape and using minus front.

THX. lot of help for me :)
In my school they would say that this isn't a good logo because It'll not look good in B&W form. What are your thoughts on that?
Hey Luka. It depends on the logo design and where it's going to be used. Ideally it's always a good idea to create or at least consider mono concepts when creating a logo. I can never seem to get them aligned perfectly :(
Copy paste the shapes and hide it(Alt + 3) while you edit each section instead of deleting the others.
Hi, what was the point of uniting it after subtracting (example at 5:05)? As in what did you unite the blue shape with?
Which software do you use for screen recording.. ?
It's called "ScreenFlow" for Mac.
@@ForeverDansky Thank you Sir, this will also work for Windows ?
Great stuff mate, i just wanted to ask what unit do i need to select to create a new document if i'm going to create simple logos for clans (as i've been using pixels in PS)? and what color format? CYMK or RGB? New to illustrator.

+Dansky Thanks a bunch mate! Thanks alot :)

What's the shortcut to bring blue under red and yellow?
How do I get rid of extra anchors and all that?? Is there a keyboard shortcut??
LockDoesGaming & More Yea you can use the Direct Selection Tool to drag over it click each anchor point individually. Then hit delete/backspace to remove. Hope this helps :)
thanks
What are the keyboard shortcuts to copy and paste in place (Windows)?
+Callisto000 Ctrl + C to copy, and Ctrl + V to paste :)
I figured it out already, thank you! ;)
+Callisto000 Ctrl + F to paste in front
how you bring to the front the of the red one but still the head of it still in side of color yellow how you do that ? in 3:27
شكرا لك 😊
If I use this logo for something will it be copyright?
when I go to cut the red tail by selecting red and yellow & substract, both part became vanished, what can i do?
plz ans which is better cs6 or cc???
CC is newer and has more features than CS6.
2:11 Thank you.
Every time I minus the front I can't trim the left over lines without deleting the whole shape, after I click Unite. Any ideas why?
It is because when you trim shapes with the Pathfinder all the pieces are grouped. The best way to "clean" those left overs is to ungroup the shapes (select, Right Click and Ungroup), select your shape, cut it with Ctrl + X, erase all the left over points and lines, go to Edit and paste in place, and your clean shape will be right back at it!
Y don't you use shape builder tool ?
i think all three parts are not equal i used a ruler for that on my pc .... can you replay for me please !
i love you Dan
What is app name that displays temperature and fan speed at the top bar?
+Kowal smcFanControl ;)
Thank you!
+Dansky What did you press 3:26 (to delete blue part)?
Why don't you use the rotary tool to do?
Without copying those shapes so many time you could have use the trim option i guess
Coool :)
3:33 you lost me here, I'm doing the exact same steps and it doesn't come out like that. How do I get rid of those anchor points after subtracting the yellow shape?

It takes half the time if you use shapebuilder tool to make this
It certainly does, unless someone's using an older version of Illustrator that doesn't have the Shape Builder tool.
3:18? how?
i found the answer by googling, select shape and use short cuts as cmd+] or cmd+[ if you have mac) on windows instead of cmnd i guess contr should be used)
We would have directly use shape builder why so much head scratching
minimum price for the software is $100, but i tNice tutorialnk the best edition for ho producers is the $200 version. TNice tutorials is not cheap.
