Hi Logan, Great video. I haven't seen much activity from Southern Hemisphere observers regarding SN 2023rve in the galaxy NGC 1097. It is very bright, around mag 14.5 - 14.8 right now. I wish you could do a video with this targed. A big hug
Thanks Jesus. If it's clear tonight I might try and have a look at it with the Meade 10" and, if it's bright enough and I remember how to, I might try a brief livestream.
What a beautiful image Logan!! And beautifully processed too! I'm just doing LMC in 2 panels, but the weather is still very bad. Tomorrow I will receive the samyang 135mm, I have seen very good images with it. Greetings from Argentina
Thank you very much Adriana. The LMC in 2 panels should make for a beautiful image. Congrats on getting the Samyang - it's a great little lens for astro. I have mine paired with an ASI533 and funnily enough, it is imaging the LMC also. Clear skies.
@@LogansAstro Ohh! The camera I have is just the 533MC. I am making the 2 panels with it together with the WO FLT91mm, and it covers a small area around NGC 2014 and includes the circular SNR that you showed Henize 70. It looks like a nice area to photograph! Greetings!!
Thanks Stewart. When we bought this house 22 years ago, it looked very unassuming from the road and had not been touched since it was built in 1959 so we didn't have much competition..... luckily. And when we saw the views out to the harbour, it was an easy decision. Clear skies.
Stunning image Logan the colours here really stand out. It's an area that is starting to show up here as well and there are some good skies coming up in the next week so looking forward to trying it out.
Fantastic results Logan!👍 Your imaging & processing skills are impressive.👍 (I still haven't recovered from having my mind totally blown by your Ara Fighting Dragons image!).😁Were you shooting at F/7 with the Esprit 120? 🤔
Thanks Steven. Yes, I think the poor old SMC doesn't get as much attention as it probably should due to it's big brother stealing all the limelight (and just because it has a pet tarantula). The first time I ran three rigs, I was wondering 'what have I done', but I have pretty well sorted (famous last worst). Clear skies.
Thanks Ollie. Yes, the SMC and LMC and ripe for the picking now for us (and perfect for the Samyang). I've been watching our WeatherWatchTV channel and they cover Australia as well quite often so I can see what crap weather you guys are sending us 🤣. In fact they did a special video today about the storm hitting your areas and the next 7 day outlook so I think we get it from you guys next ua-cam.com/video/JFRr9Y_qY0c/v-deo.htmlsi=y79LUC-XzuVYIezL
That's a great image! Would love to be able to explore the LMC and SMC, but being here in the northern hemisphere, it is something I can only wish for! Good to see that you got some clear skies!
Thanks Dave. We are very lucky down here to be able to image pockets of nebulosity in detail in a couple of galaxies outside of our own. Yes the weather has started to turn around and more clear nights are starting to appear (although the dew last night was horrendous). Clear skies.
Great video Logan! How good is it to have 3 rigs running! technically though, it’s 4😀 two on one mount!! Some great areas of sky there! 20 min subs! Wow, you must have some great guiding, I only dare to push 10 mins! Super image mate, clear skies!
Thanks Simon. The CEM120 is doing a pretty good job with the guiding so 20min subs are working well. But I don't go that long when it's a bit windy and tend to drop back to 10mins. 4 telescopes haha yes indeed you are technically correct 🤣 but three actually running is where I hit the limit of my brain I think 😂. Clear skies
Great & interesting images Logan although running 3 rigs would be to much of a headache for me lol I have enough agro with just the one. Clear skies mate
Thanks Tich. Running three was a bit of a headache at first but I think I have it sorted now. Just wish the wifi on the ASIAIRpro wasn't so crap, then I could be anywhere in the property and check how they are going instead of having to keep the iPad almost out the window to get a connection (the ASIAIRPlus wifi is good though). Clear skies.
Beautiful image Logan, thanks for sharing. I have a quick question if you don't mind, I'm NZ based too and I'm just wondering where you source your ASIAir's from? Is there an NZ supplier? I've had no luck finding one.
Thanks John. I'm not aware of a supplier of any ZWO gear here in NZ which is pretty frustrating. The ASIAIR pro (which I would NOT recommend buying due to the crappy wifi) I think I just purchased from Australia. The ASIAirPlus (which has good wifi) I was fortunate enough to win from ZWO for the ASIWEEK competition they run every quarter. I spoke to ASTRONZ and they are trying to see if they can start bringing in ZWO stuff but I think they haven't had a positive response from ZWO....yet.
@@LogansAstro thanks Logan, look like Testar is an Aussie option, but I hope Astronz are able to get an agreement with ZWO and congrats on winning the competition!
Interesting video. Can you please tell me which one I should buy for visual observations (not astrophotography): a Bresser 102/1000 mm for 300 $ or a TS Optics 70/420 mm ED FLP-51 for 430$ ? I don't know which of the two would have a better performance / resolution. Bigger APOs are simple too expensive for me. Other types of telescopes are not an option for me since I don't want to bother with collimation. Thank you!
I've just finished a 9 hr SMC mosaic. It definitely deserves more recognition.
That'll be a damn nice image. The LMC and SMC are certainly gems for us down below the equator. Clear skies
Beautiful work Logan, particularly liked the sequence for combining the final image.
Cheers
Si
Thanks very much. Took me a while to work out how to do the 'mono combining into colour' but I think I have it sorted for next time.
@@LogansAstro I really loved it 👍🏻

Thanks, much appreciated. Clear skies.
Another interesting one Logan, and a superb final image…and can I say what a lovely location you live in, with incredible views from your deck….👍🏻

Thanks Nik. We are lucky to have two naked eye visible galaxies to image in our night sky with lots of interesting swirls of nebulosity. Clear skies.
Great intro Logan. Love seeing 3 rigs :) Fantastic images as usual!
Thanks James. I need three going to keep up with the DSO Imager 😉🤣
Nice work Logan, as always 👍🏻😀
Thanks Olly. Clear skies.
@@LogansAstro Still waiting, believe it or not 🤪
Wow! Nice Shots logan! Thats A really Bright And splendid Target Logan! 😮. That nebula at 10:00, Love the colors!
Thanks Avanteesh. I'm actually adding more Ha as we speak. I think it could really do with about 40hrs of Ha alone to do it justice. Clear skies

Thanks very much Derek. To be honest I'm not entirely happy with the result so might add some more Ha and reprocess. Yes this was F/7 with the Esprit.
Nicely done paying tribute to the little SMC. You have a few rigs going on there now, love it!

Hey Logan that's a nice area you've pulled out. I've been on this target lately too with the Samyang. Weather is rubbish here again.
