Went on keto and IF in January 2023 and stopped all alcohol. I was pre-diabetic for 20+ years, and had high blood pressure. The weight started to fall off of me. By September I had lost 60 pounds-a quarter of my body weight-went down 4 inches in the waist, and dropped two shirt sizes. My HDL and triglycerides are both 52. Total cholesterol is 266 and my doctor vapor locked about that. Wants me on Lipitor and I said no way. I’ve never felt better or slept better. Plenty of energy, greatly increased cognition. I’m 67.
In my experience, Statins are Poison.
Good job, Mark 💪 Be happy 😊
Congratulations! I love hearing success stories like yours.
Time to leave that doctor in the dust. All your markers are great.
Well done I have a similar experience 4 years start Keto and I am 61 - only last Sunday completed a bicycle race of 110km in a time of 3h12min - I cannot be more healthier then I am at the moment
This information is invaluable. Watching stories of those who lost many pounds and have better labs are on these videos tell the whole story. I enjoy every one.
It's very refreshing to see doctors research and change their mind when it comes to metabolic health. Usually takes a health crisis for some of us.
MY A1C is 5.2, down from 5.5 a year ago. Likewise my HDL is 109, was 98.
It's nice to get a blood draw and look forward to the results.
🙏Low carb paleo diet and activity. 🙏
I firmly believe that this series of videos are some of the most important presentations that exist in the ketogenic space. Pure gold.
Thank you. Humbled
A lot of people commenting that they are both still visibly overweight. Missing the point. We’re all at various stages of the same journey. Besides that, I find it difficult to relate to skinny people who never seriously struggled with obesity giving me weight loss advice.
Exactly. Combined we're down over 185lbs!!!
I agree with your discernment of providers. Words come out but they can be as wrong as the words that have flooded our medical schools and hospitals, etc---the pyramid. These people have lost tons and did it with great labs! I guess the healthy losses and labs should cause at least a second glance.
Cywes asks the doctor some personal questions and the poor guy has a 'panic attack' Lol... But seriously, great video! You are helping many.
Thank you once again. Rob Cywes and Eric Westman quite possibly saved my life. If only more Drs were at least curious, and open to change how many more could change their march toward I'll health. Your info is science based,, as Eric says "if you do it, it works ".😊
Good to be a “fly on the wall” for this fascinating, friendly conversation.
Inspiring
Nina Teicholtz !!!!! :-))
A warrior of medical truths!!!
Nina Teicholtz is FANTASTIC! 🙏
I wish she was single
Statins just about killed me! My former dr played stupid as in I don’t know what’s causing muscle spasms throughout my entire body! Dr 💀. Got rid of him and now have a Dr who is amazed at my progress! He’s actually learning from me! Now my cardiologist is iffy now, stated he does keto, but a supporter of issuing statins and keeps on insisting to upgrade my my mechanical heart valve (/Aorta):told him that’s not happening anytime soon! Had it done 2012. Started carnivore August 1/22. At 285, Now I’m down 130lbs! Time to look for another cardiologist!!
Wow! Love that you created your own handout. God bless you and your journey in life.
Thank you for sharing this doctor to doctor conversation.
Great interview Doc C Thank You Doc for What You Do 🥩👍🏻
A young 61 years old here. It's taken me since labor day--a bit over 6 months, to go from 265 to 196. Still 20 pounds to lose to army retirement weight 18 years ago. I generally have cut carbs to around 100g a day, and calories to around 2,000. I also run between 5 and 10 miles 5 to 6 days a week...predominantly 6 miles at a time. And on many of those days I will double up with 20 miles on the bike trainer. And of those 180 days probably 20 or more have been over indulgant days at 3000 to 5000 cal a day. It is not hard to believe I used to EASILY eat 6,000 or more calories a day as an emotional crutch. Like when I quit alcohol at about 24 years old because I could see where it was taking me--nowhere good...I quit cold....I have done much the same with over indulgence of food. I simply got tired of swollen feet and a belly so damn big I had trouble getting my cycling shoes on! I now am no longer 61 feeling like 88!!
Its a fun Lifetime March soldier
I think there needs to be more emphasis on Lipid Panel Quality rather than Quantity, which as discussed here means Triglycerides and HDL at the very least; also LDL fractionation pattern (probably good if Trigs + HDL are good); Lp(a) (while mostly genetically determined, I've seen research that says it goes down with increased dietary saturated fat), etc. Like this cardiologist, my lipid quality was worse 15 years ago than now.
Thank you Docs, nice behind the scene information.
Carnivore diet and Methylene Blue dosing saved my life! Im 62 years young and feel better now than I did in my 20’s and 30’s!!!
Methylene Blue has some negative coronary effects.
wow you must have been fat and lazy in your 20's and 30's or your lying.
Methylene blue????
What is Methylene Blue?
@@jimdandy8996 Please provide me with the cause and effect documentation from the controlled randomized study that proves the relationship between methylene blue and negative coronary outcomes.
Thanks so much for this discussion! Very interesting and informative!
This is a nice, relaxing talk. Great interview!!!
Thank you. That was great...as usual!!
Thank you! :)
I got down from 105 Kg to 75 on ketovore... Almost everybody who hasn't seen me for a few months is asking me if I have cancer ... I can relate :D
Awesome interview ❤
More! Thank You Doc and Doc
Thanks Docs
Awesome!
Wish I could find a doctor like him!
He does online visits
Please provide a link to the handout mentioned. Excellent information and thank you for sharing!
Dollar Tree has Himalayan pink salt, both in very fine grains and (sold as bath salt) in quite coarse ones. They seem to be genuine and much less expensive than at most other retailers.
I still use a little iodized salt for iodine.
I have been doing full carnivore off and on for over a year.
I have chosen to re add, 1/3 cup of organic, glyphosate free oatmeal into my diet. I miss the texture of other foods, and also the satiety that comes from a healthy grain. Also, it helps with fullness and gut biome. I am lean and don't want to have the lean-mass hyper responder syndrome contribute to the over- trafficking of fats in my arteries.
@joen.8364 there is no such thing as a healthy grain, neither is there over trafficking fats in the arteries. Fats are transported on lipoproteins because they are not water (blood) soluble.
Is the dosing organic oatmeal 1/3 cup cooked or uncooked? Thanks.
Not so sure about oatmeal. Ask ur gut
Get off the oats and eat more fat.
I'm recently back on the Keto/Carnivore diet after 3 years. Had a heart attack 8 months ago. Surgeon stated that I had a collapsed artery. And yes, I am diabetic with high blood pressure and taking a blood thinner med and insulin injection.
My question is, With a good diet, supplements and exercise, is my body able to open up and renew that artery and the other arteries???
Stop interrupting. Let him finish.
Do we have to be a patient to get his handout?
Probably not. Will ask him
What is your opinion of stopping plavix one year after triple stints?
In one of Dr. Cywes videos he says that low dose baby aspirin is equivocal to Plavix. It's a video about fatty liver.
Depends on why u were on it. Suggest a consult
I've been looking for a keto friendly cardiologist. My kid is going to Georgia Southern. Maybe I have a lead
I'm in Statesboro
My blood pressure went from stage two hypertension back to normal after six months or so of keto. And eating much more salt.
At first I was testing it regularly worried it would explode higher 😂
Same here. My blood pressure lowered to 70/110 with higher salt intake with low carbs.
Great interview. But I hate to miss out on a joke. what's a farsee? (to go with the donut)
Farzega is a diabetes medicine that makes you piss out the sugar and the calories and let's you still eat donuts. But it has a metaphorical and actual cost D Nabert MD
👍👏💯🇷🇺🖐
#11:39 the book your referring to THE BIG FAT LIE who's it written by, much appreciated
William B. Fears wrote The Big Fat Lie and Nina Teicholz wrote The Big Fat Surprise
@lourenspelser243 hi that's great thanks just bought it 🥰
Great book lots of good information.
Nina Teicholz
Does Amazon sell The Big Fat Surprise
Why is the cardiologist holding his hands with that symbol?
Who is he? I didn't hear an introduction or see anything in your show notes.
Is the book big fat lies/ or big fat surprise/ tha latter is all I found
Big Fat Suprise
The Big Fat Surprise is a book by journalist and author Nina Teicholz
Google Nina Teicholz
I don’t understand why you both have a very large waistline. Something isn’t right here. Could you please explain.
IF YOU actually LISTEN.... they both have turned around obesity. Too many ignorant dudes shoot their mouths off with zero intelligience, substance or respect. Sit down.
Quite an unfortunate camera angle revealing a substantial amount of visceral fat on the carb-addiction-doc's belly.
It is, but he makes no bones about being susceptible to being overweight, he even said so in this video, iirc he was obese at one time? If that's correct he has improved considerably.
That correct we will have to do it again next year😊
He looks great to me😃
Doctors are on a journey, too.
As long as he hasn’t got metabolic syndrome then it’s no problem.
Getting way too personal on his medical history. He was uncomfortable.
Robert told me the type of personal questions he was going to ask. I thought it was important and appropriate to give honest complete answers
this guy went to med school?????Geez!
Yeah I did , call my office my credentials are online
Nothin changes , more money for ur prescreeption , NOPE
He lost seventy pounds, man he needs to have his scale recalibrated, he does not show it.
you know what he weighed before he lost that weight? I would guess, probably not.
Great personal physician story. My physician story after three years keto is similar! As an FP my nutrition education and has saved my life and that of my wife, also a physician!
