- Learn how to crochet a cute hanging basket with T-shirt yarn. This nice interior element will definitely make your home cozier.
To crochet this basket I used 7-9 mm T-shirt yarn and a 6mm hook. You will also need several stitch markers, scissors and a needle with a big eye.

I made this basket with the exact same number of stitches as you, but I made some revisions.
To wrap the handle at the end, I didn’t want to have to thread the yarn back under the last few stitches, so I offset the placement of the 3-in-1 increase. This way, the handle is made at the beginning of the row, and the last row is finished with slip stitches all the way around. Then just cut the yarn, and wrap the base of the handle.
Row 9: KS (“knit stitch”) 3, 3-in-1 increase, KS to end. Join.
Row 10: KS 3, 3-in-1 increase, KS 13, dec 6, KS 9. Join.
…
Row 13: Sl St 1, make handle, Sl St around edge.

I just made a basket like this without a pattern, which is actually very similar. However, I was not joining each round, and just stitching in the round, in a spiral, which is how I've always done circles. It was making my finished bag twist. I will definitely be trying out your method of joining to help with this! It looks so nice and straight. Thanks!

You can regulate the size of the basket by making a bigger or a smaller circle base in the beginning. You can also add rows in the walls of the basket.

Unfortunately I don't know the exact amount. But the bigger one (pink one) took less than 1 bobbin and 1 bobbin I use is around 100 meters. So maybe the pink basket took around 70-80 meters

I’m enjoying your videos! Question: how do you keep the tee shirt yarn from twisting? I am a beginner and am using “hooked” brand tee shirt yarn. But it twists so much that I am not enjoying my project. I just started a new spool and this time I pulled out from the center in a chunk, unknotted it and beginning again. Any tips are appreciated! Looking forward to more of your videos.

@@CrochetwithJulia yes. I just took a few minutes to straighten out 3 yards, took a dc stitch and it’s twisted again! I’m wondering if I’m holding yarn wrong or wrapping my hook wrong.
@@donnababylon well, I actually don't pay much attention to it, I don't usually straighten it. Just crochet they way it is. But yeah, if to straighten the yarn, the result will be even more perfect. And also for some certain patterns it's necessary to straighten the yarn. But it will twist anyway, you can't do anything about it. You have to straighten it every time before making every next stitch. You don't have to do it along all the yarn at once, just when you crochet each next stitch, be sure to keep the yarn straight at that place. You will have to adjust it with your hands every time.

I used “Bernat Maker Home Dec (Bulky 5)” , double stranded with J-hook (6.0mm)

Depends of course on the size of the basket you wanna get and what the towels you wanna put in it. But I think 2 will be enough

Is it just me or is tshirt yarn so annoying and difficult to crochet with. End up with RSI soon 😅😭
It depends on the quality of T-shirt yarn too. One day I bought some yarn, it was cheaper than the one I usually use, and it had so bad quality, it was really hard to crochet with it. That was the first and the last time I used it.
Or maybe your hands are just not used to it. When first I started to crochet a lot, I even had some problems with my hand so I took medicine and couldn't crochet for 1 month. It's important to give a rest to your hands
