Agreed. I just wish Samsung would have spent time focusing on building their own OS. I had numerous Samsung (with Android OS) phones from 2011 to 2014 and they kept slowing down, apps would stop running and glitching out badly. Even fried several SD cards with pictures. The news story with Apple and their intended obsolescence through dispatched updates was bad, however I’ve had 4 iPhone models since 2014 and it totally keeps its speed/operability (for me at least). Not taking sides in the phone war, just sharing my own personal experience. Maybe Android OS is better now too, but I couldn’t stand being forced to switch phones every year due to all the technical issues (not to mention needing to clear system RAM just to really use it). I have an iPhone 12 now (last model worth upgrading to - also my opinion), I’ve had it since Summer 2021 and it’s still going very strong, like new almost. I would consider myself a phone “power user”. If the reliability of iPhone changes, I have no qualms about switching back.
@@cavedweller2000 That was a strange one. I assumed that the handset numbers went down when they were no longer used; ie when you dial the number for that handset, you get a "Number is no longer in use" message.
The author is likely using per year data, so say August 26, 2006 data is charted here then when it’s August 26, 2007, it removes all the prior data from the 2006 date. So it would roll back in that case because the sales are from a year ago.. There’s more phones in existence than what is obviously on the last slide, so that must be the case.
Fun fact I learned from this video: Sony Ericsson existed in 1994. In 1997, Ericsson broke free from their Sony overlords and were able to sell a buttload of phones as a result. In 2005, they once again merged with Sony. Yeah so this video is sloppy and full of nonsense.
Okey, somethings wrong here... Sony Ericsson is showed here allready in 1994, wich is impossible, when that company didn't exist until 2001. It should have said Ericsson allready at 1994. Sony did sell mobilephone themselves though not until 1997. In this video Ericsson shows up in 1997, and Sony Ericsson vanishes, until it shows up again in 2005. 4 years after it was founded. ANd then Sony Ericsson is according to this video around until end of days here 2020. If I dont remember it wrong, SONY ERICSSON became SONY in 2012 and should therefor be renamed till SONY. But maybe this channel was a litle lazy, and though Sony Ericsson as SONY... in a sense I guess thats still the same company. It was Called from the beginning Ericsson Mobile communications AB, during the joint venture it was called SONY ERICSSON Mobile Communications AB and when SONY took over the company, it was changed to SONY Mobile COmmunications AB. So I guess they dont see SONY ERICSSON and SONY as different companies? And if SONY ERICSSON is SONY, then this means SONY is still number 10 in the world and at least on the markets 10 biggest phonemanufacturies.

They were very niche. Very. There was a lot said about them but they never had the chance to take off. I knew one person, maybe two who had a BlackBerry. I did not get the honor of trying one at the time, unfortunately.

blackberry didn't get enough sales to get on the list at all???
