I started coming to specialists at UCSD in LaJolla a year & a half ago beginning with hematology, then neurology, then neurosurgery. Then I had the most disturbing experience at your new weapons screening entrance to Jacobs Hospital. I had left my neurosurgeons office in the nextdoor Perlman Bldg, walked down a hallway to the cafeteria in Jacobs Hospital, and was surrounded by 6-8 security staff for having a lighter in my bag. The new screening staff are what you might expect at a prison, not a hospital. They began to question me about nearly ever item in my backpack. Mind you Ive undergone 12 brain surgeries for hydrocephalus, am battling leukemia, an antibody deficiency, neuro sarcoidosis, and am 60lbs underweight. I left there Friday 1.31.25 feeling I would never return to Jacobs Hospital! I can't imagine what administration was thinking when they put in that new weapons screening, and hired ex-prison staff. Some reporter needscto do an undercover expose'.
