When I bought the 390 ADV, I never knew it looked big without accessories. Only after riding it and seeing the heads turn did I realize I bought a baby beast. For me, the 400 to 600 cc segment hits a sweet spot in India. It gives the best of both worlds: commuting and touring. Adventure doesn't just mean off-roading. One reason I might probably even consider buying the 2024 KTM 390 ADV is if they manage to port all the electronics from the 890 platform.
Keerthi Triumph screwed it completely for me in Bangalore, and I ended up buying KTM 390ADV. I do not regret it a bit, though it came at a cost. I would have waited for 400X but thought that the dealership was a problem and it would continue to haunt me post-buying. Trust me, Triumph India is not really concerned about us "customers". I cancelled my booking on 4th Sep (Speed 400) and am still waiting for the refund money. They just don't pick up calls nor revert to emails. Nice review.

It is not about being older to you sir, it is more about personal taste and preferences. If you into retro classics or modern classics you might end up going for the scrambler 400x
I feel that, in future the bike manufacturers should go the Ducati Hypermotard way where the bike is light weight, aggressive power delivery, long travel soft suspension setup and combination of dirt bike and a naked bike cycle parts. That's the one which will be a winner here in India.
This is the first video I have watched that pointed out the Triumph coolant bottle was under the sump! How stupid, unless that sump guard is titanium. Well done for pointing out the obvious.
I was looking at the Speed 400 but I will be buying the Duke 390 instead. For 2024 it’s a really great bike. I have a 15 mile transit to work. With lots of mountain twisties. For off-road I will get a Honda CRF300L.
I predict that if the Speed 400 and 400x are even moderately successful, Triumph will add more models that use this engine. A cruiser to the street side of the equation and an Adv model on the dirt side. Anyone interested in a Tiger Cub 400?

Great review. As both bikes are made by Bajaj and both have 19/17 wheels, can the KTM wire spoked wheels be put on the Triumph Scrambler 400x? The rear chain drives are on different sides of the bikes but this shouldn't matter. Thanks
Don’t play with the stock setup of the wheel size and the break modification, u will never end up with the result and comfort which u r looking out of that mod. Regarding the fuel optimisation , exhaust , air-filter, u can play and settle down but not with the wheels.
Very good comparison but ... wow, you can talk fast, my friend. 🙂. India seems a really great place to ride with those bikes and - for me watching al lot of reviews from India in the last time - a little bit scary too. 🙂 But here we are quite "safety-conscious" (some might say boring) - at least here in Germany. However, I think these "smaller" engines will play a bigger role in the future and seriously, how many riders can really push a 1200cc to its limits? Less power = more fun.
