Hi from another American living on the Donau but further west! I came here over 20 years ago. Back then I was not required to take either a language or an integration course. Actually, I would have liked too! I think it is a great thing! My German husband and I were also married in the US but it was accepted here once we had the document apostilled in the US state that issued the marriage license. In any case I am eager to see more vlogs. I wish you well.
Hi there. I had also heard that people previously did not have language and integration courses either...so I"m not sure how new it is, but I really did appreciate it and I think its a really good idea. If you go to another country its much the same as if you go to someone else's house---you're a guest. You have rights, you're still you're own person, but you need to respect their home and how they operate, just the same as you would like them to respect your country and values, etc. I thought it was great. I think the USA could definitely benefit from this... Thanks for watching!
YT is always suggesting me videos of other Americans in Germany....really surprised to find a Yooper!!! I am from Wisconsin and lived for about 10 years near the UP border (I even lived in Ironwood for a year. Lost a lot of money to the Natives in Watersmeet too LOL) Grüße aus Hannover!
Hey that's awesome! I am from Iron River--so 90 miles east of Ironwood. I went one year to Gogebic and yes we know Watersmeet well. The Mystery Light and all that as well. Whenever I'm home we usually make a day to go to Eagle River, WI. Thanks for commenting. The world is a small place!
@@truenorth9031 hahahaha....I was not going to say exactly, but let's make the World smaller....I lived in Phelps in the 90s then a few years in Eagle River. I still have family in Eagle River.
@@truenorth9031 I remember going to a sportscard store in Iron River. I had a friend who was a dj at WIKB, she hosted Saturday Night Rocks for a handful of years. I had some friends that lived near Phelps but just into MI so they had to go to school in Iron River instead of Phelps.
@@truenorth9031 my family went to a church in Iron River for a couple years and I dated a girl from there for a short time. Her dad was the football Coach if I remember right.
@Eric der Ami Hey Sorry I didn't see the part about Phelps. Sometimes I get the feeling that it updates messages and doesn't notify. I think the last time I drove through Phelps was like 2010 or so but its always fun to drive Forest Hwy 16 (not sure what it turns into in WI, I forget) but its always a nice road with the thick tree canopies. Eagle River is still a favorite---love the little shops. That never gets old! By chance what was the woman's name who worked at WIKB? I think she's down in the LP now if its the same one we're talking about.
Thank you! Usually UA-cam is everything quick and flashy to get as many likes as possible. I get it and understand it--but I think you can tell a story as well and people love hearing stories...doesn't matter who you are, so I'm gonna try to do that a bit. I guess we'll see how successful it is. I appreciate your comment and thanks for watching!
i'm so friendly and use a translator to make it easier for your "non-german viewers" what i'm saying now. the forest in which you are sitting and cycling is a "cultural forest, specially created to reduce the war on wood in the 17th to 19th centuries We have completely destroyed nature, animals, plants, everything! Have you ever wondered why there are so many zoos in Germany? maybe it's a kind of collective guilt awareness ?! if that were a "real forest" you would understand the darkness that is in Grimm's fairy tale! The forest looks "great" but it has lost its "natural beauty, because we as humans only think about our own increase in value and earn money. There is a bit of truth in every fairy tale, but we as Germans have taken on the duty to do so to prevent animals and plants from becoming extinct. You wouldn't "just sit there and make a video about Germany if you knew that a bear or a pack of wolves would attack you at any moment to chase you. We try to save the world even if it is only for us in this small part of the world or with zoos where a sign on a cage indicates that this or that animal was once to be found in a certain place. please don't get me wrong but what you see as nature is not because we have tried to restore it, unfortunately we have done TOO MUCH wrong in our documented over 2000 year history and try to make it up somehow, and that may be a way that someone should follow ups, that was a bit too long and too "dark" nice day so far ..... Sehe das Problem, verstehe es, und dann arbeite daran, es zu Lösung oder wieder in Orndung zu bringen. Ich denke das passiert. Man sollte aber auch nicht zu stark in die andere Richtung gehen und z.B. sagen dass man an alles Schuld ist. Es sollte keinen "Selbsthass" geben. Vielen Dank fürs Kommentar! Ich bedanke mich! Hello, I'll write in German. I'm aware of what kind of a forest that was where I was. The forests are nevertheless pretty and they have a different "feeling" about them--especially the Beech trees. That's why I say "Brothers-Grimm-feeling". We also have bear and wolves in Michigan. The wolves are actually slowly becoming a problem as dogs and pets end up going "missing" more often. So this is not so foreign to me as you/as one would think (being in real woods). But I know what you mean/ are trying to say. Some things perhaps man has destroyed or effected but he should learn something out of it and try to repair or fix it. So I don't see that so "bad." See the problem, understand it, and then work at trying to find a solution to it or fix it. I think thats happening now. You (a person) shouldn't go too far in the other direction though and say that everything is man's fault. There shouldn't be any self-hate. Thank you for the comment. I appreciate it!
I like the calmness and unexcitedness with which you tell your stories. A calm look at us (Natives) does us good.
The "unexcitedness" lol...i like that. I'm not very animated on camera. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching, I appreciate it!
Germany my favorite country.
It ranks up there!
