You will need to get your child evaluated to determine if they have a learning disability. Thanks for this video series. I have two sons with Dyslexia and struggle with auditory memory. One also has Dysgraphia and Dyscalculia. They are 10 and 12 and the journey has been a learning experience. I have tried many things. I let them use a multiplication cart with their assignments and then still test them without the sheet every so often to see which ones we need to work on. I have started the Diana Craft program with my 10 year old. It’s been very informative. The progress is slow but my kid’s improve each year and I try to focus on that even if they are not were most kids are at their age. I wish you luck this coming year with all your doing.

Hi!! I have a Dyslexic kid too. She has not Dyscalculia. Have you heard of Dianne Craft material? She does have some interesting things to teach right brain learners. ❤

Thank you for sharing. Ive watched all 4 of your videos and I understand your journey. My daughter has been diagnosed with dyslexia with ADD as a compounding factor. She also has struggles with math facts. We also love the math songs from classical conversations. My daughter also needs a mastery approach to math. It has been a journey for sure but I am so thankful that we are able to homeschool. I may have missed it but did you mention what you are using for your sons math curriculum?
The journey can be overwhelming, but yes I am thankful we homeschool.
We use Math U See and it is one of the curriculum suggested by Scottish Rite.

My grandson is a 6th grader with discalculia and he is like you describe your son. He can go in and do the multiple number addition subtraction. He knows when to carry and when to borrow. But he still has to count on his fingers. He will start at 1:00 instead of starting at the highest number and today he knows it and tomorrow he does not so you describe him perfectly. Right now I am using right start math and their whole idea is to subitize but a lot of their idea is mental math which for a child with discalculia mental math is next to impossible. So yes it is a struggle and thank you. I was thinking that hey it's cheating. If I show him the answers I will be getting the addition and subtraction chart because hey if he doesn't know what he doesn't know it and you described it so perfectly that he is using up so much brain energy. I see him trying so hard. He wants to do it so badly. But that little connection in his brain just is not connected. So thank you for this video and I will be incorporating some of the things you mentioned and I will stop feeling like it's cheating right start Matthews is an AL abacus. It's very visual and it is subitizing and he gets that he understands that but I said you can't carry an abacus around with you the rest of your life lol Is there any way you can let us know what other curriculum you use because my grandson struggles with other things also and I find myself concentrating so heavily on math that all the other subjects kind of fall through the cracks because math is the one that really gets us in a bad way

what are the math facts that you copied for your son? i re-read the transcript, but still aren't sure if i should make some for more advanced addition, subtraction, multiplication, & division. do you allow your son access to those during school work & tests?

And yes, he uses them during school work and test.
We are starting multiplication and division this coming year so we will work on learning the facts first. If he needs a chart once we start multi-digit multiplication then I will give him access to a chart just like I do with the addition and subtraction.
