Great review!!! I am heading there in October!
Thx so much
Lovely things to do in our beloved city. The Halifax Citadel is also a great place to check out. The garrison that dates back to the 1700s. You also get a fabulous view of the city. They have regular tours, I think for $11. It is a national historic park, worth the trip up the hill. Most of your top 10 here are within a 10-15 min walk, so that is very good.
The Maritime Museum is far more than just the Titanic exhibit!
We have been to halifax 3 times. We ate there and shop right on the broadwalk everytime we love it.
It’s so cute
Pier 21 (Museum of Immigration) - 20 mins barely gets you up the stairs. There are two sections - one dedicated to the immigrant experience coming through Pier 21; another that documents the history of Canada through an immigration viewpoint. Allow upwards of 2 hours to not feel rushed.
Maritime Museum of the Atlantic - the Titanic exhibit is only a piece of the museum. Much more to see in the museum.
Poutine - this is a great Quebec food that gets bastardized in other parts of the country. Smoke's is well down the list for a good introduction to poutine (although it is pretty decent after a few pints)
We spent part of our honeymoon in Halifax. 😊
Aw. That’s so nice!!
I enjoyed walking around the Halifax waterfront. Beaver tails were yummy. I didn't try the poutine because I prefer my fries crispy and not smothered in gravy or any sauce.
I prefer my fries crispy too but when in Rome.
Curious….is there anything commemorating that awful explosion of the WW1 munitions ship that basically flattened the entire city?
Hey Ed. Not that I know of but I’ll research it
If I'm not mistaken, the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic also has an exhibit about the Halifax explosion in addition to the Titanic exhibit.
@@ellenday5427 Yes it does.
