9:33 nice 11:05 ahh yeah you had just mentioned morphing "through" the guard point, it looks like here the GP itself didn't put you in an actionable state where you can pick an option, but it just follows the morph animation through with a block window. I guess it's even more of a "guard point" this way, because your morph attack isn't interrupted. I didn't realize it was quite like that, wow
It (the guard point morph) is definitely weird. Probably could be put to good use for quick post-attack axe mode followups with enough time, but a totally different positioning thing to think about than normal with CB.
Love your vids man! You really take your time with your play through and play the game the way it’s supposed to be played and it really brings me back to my first play throughs of my first MH’s. Speed running culture has really ruined people’s perceptions of what these games are and it’s really refreshing to see vids like this 👍
Thanks so much! I tend to agree that folks have a tendency to hyper-fixate on rushing to reach the“meta” playstyle (in many games, not only MH) - often to the detriment of enjoying the whole game or the “journey” through the game. I’m really glad I get to share some MH-enjoying like this, and that it seems to resonate with folks like you! More hunts to come :)
I really like what they did in 4th gen, giving Insect Glaives and Charge Blades to old monsters that don't belong to the returning roster. Some great ones even, like the Cedeus Charge Blade in 4U. Well, i know Agnaktor is in GU, but he's coupled with Barroth in that list of monsters that are there kinda just for the sake of being there, if you get what i mean. Barioth and Shogun Cenataur got way more attention, for instance. Edit: oh, it's a Gypceros charge blade 🤦♂ But i guess what i said still makes sense, as Gypceros' Charge Blade was introduced in Generations, despite him being in MH4.
Agreed! Some of those "retroactive" designs are super cool. They did it in both 4U and GU, and the "trader" in 4U for getting parts from older monsters was so cool - I hope they bring this back someday. :)
you are failing the guard point on the roar because the source of the attack is behind you from his mouth, this happens with all block parrys, and this is a common feature of the elongated big leviatans bodies
Hot take: I think Gengiacrus is pretty good. I still wish that if it was to return in a modern game its gets a revamp using Jyuratodus/Somnacanth swimming mechanics, because while the fight is pretty good, it lost soooooo much or the atmosphere the original had. A monster called "king of sea" shouldn't be fighting on land flopping like a seal imo, it’s like a fish out of water.
Totally! I don't know if "old Plesioth swimming" would be a good direct solution, but those sorts of ideas are what comes to my mind. Let Lagi jump in and out of the nearby river quickly, or hide in a few pools he could suddenly appear from, or let him electrify the actual terrain a-la Namielle. There's lots of room for them to experiment & bring him back again. :)
I still hold the opinion that Gen's Lagi would make for a great Ivory, it just feels odd as normal Lagi. As for charge blade... idk, feels like they were trying to emphasize the regular block and knowing which moves you can counter before choosing a guard point? I usually just use adept, it's too fun XD
Adept CB is a really cool style, to be sure (I played a lot of it and aerial in the past). At some point I'll *probably* let myself experiment with arts&styles again, but I don't know when >_
I agree in a lot of ways. I think CB's "Guard point > AED" is as integral to the weapon as hammer's golf swing is to that weapon. So, a lot of CB's moves still feel and play like CB, but especially in guild it feels like a core piece of the weapon got yanked out without much to replace it.
@@RistrettoMH yeah, i'm with you there. the other styles don't really bring back the old feeling of "GP -> AED" playstyle, but they do at the very least do a nice work to not make it feel like it's missing something lol
@@RistrettoMH huge part of why i prefer to unga bunga aerial charge blade! the shield makes up for aerials awkward positioning, while the mounts and jumping aed's let you keep up the satisfying headsnipes. however i recommend unlocking ripper hunter art, solving the problem of a very slow sword charge.
I'm actually playing this on a MacBook Pro >_< I'm running MHGU with one of the latest "Ryujinx Canary" emulator builds & a 60fps mod. I was pretty surprised how well it runs!
It is, yeah! I'm playing MHGU on one of the latest "Ryujinx canary" emulator builds, and I have both a 60fps mod and Playstation buttons mod installed. Believe it or not, the game is actually running on a MacBook >_< !
I really like playing Chargeblade in GU. Aerial style is always good, but I think Adept is my favorite for Chargeblade because it gets a block and an evade. Lots o' fun for sure 😁 Even if Lagiacrus isn't in his full glory with underwater combat, I still like fighting him. I just wish Ivory and Abbysal's gear was available in every game
That "adept evade & adept block" combo on CB is super cool. I played a bunch of it back when I first played through Gen. I'm still forming my opinion on Lagi - gotta run back his hunt using something without a shield and see how I cope with all his moves that way, I think.
5:21 that microsecond when you wanted to AED from sword mode... I saw that
(or maybe it was X->R for the GP morph, but still lol)
9:33 nice

No you totally caught me. That was a tiny bit of MH4U muscle memory for "quick, get an AED out from this position" showing up, hahaha
It (the guard point morph) is definitely weird. Probably could be put to good use for quick post-attack axe mode followups with enough time, but a totally different positioning thing to think about than normal with CB.
Top ten anime betrayal moment at 11:40ish! Ludroth 'helps' Lagi only to get cooked along side the hunter
Truly. I had no idea how that was going to play out 😂
I needed some new casual mh content❤️
Hope you'll enjoy - I have fun recording these. :)

Hyper Lagiacrus in G rank has a reputation for being an absolute monster, if/when you ever reach that point!
I'll look forward-to & fear it. :) I'll get there eventually!

@@RistrettoMH Well, Rise gave normal Bazel a Master Rank armor set, and it also gave Espinas an IG and a CB
Another mon hun tuber, I'm subbed up!
Cheers! I hope you'll like the MH-enjoying here. :)

Aha! That makes sense. I'll have to try and position where I can face the head more easily in the future.

i really don't like how they made CB in gen, they robbed it of the punch it had in 4U and it feels kind of lackluster 🙄

@ where can I get one or did you make it?
I don’t host any files myself, but searching for the “Ryujinx” emulator and how it works would be what you’d want to look for!
@ thanks for the help
Is this glorious 60fps? How?
