One suggestion would be to save the amounts over $5k per month to another account- maybe a HYSA- and see how much you have over your budgeted side hustle amount at year end. You were surprised that you were $5k over at Q1 - so maybe those extra dollars need a job for later in the year. Congratulations on your determination in getting out of debt in 2024!

I did my qtr 1 update on Saturday morning with my morning cup of coffee and it felt good and put things into perspective. I too felt like I was going nowhere with my sinking funds, so I’m doing the same thing you are going to do. Thank you for that new idea and perspective. Keep up the great work you are awesome🎉🎉🎉!

I love this quarterly check-in. I typically set goals for the year but this is a great way to recognize wins instead of trying to recap the whole year at the end; starting Q2 now.

One observation, Money is being diverted to future expenses when you have past expenses that need attention. That’s why I think you feel like no progress is being made even though money is coming in. Don’t get distracted. Focus on your debt free goal! You can do it and have even more funds to allocate to future projects. In my opinion.

I love how you break down your yearly payments each paycheck based upon set determined goal date / 12, 24, or 52. Even if it’s only $3 per paycheck to equal the yearly amount due.

But I will start with the idea you mentioned about having one sinking fund envelope. That sounds better; more focused. I am not so good on my monthly analysis; haven't even done February yet; ugh. My budget sheets are ever evolving as well, and i haven't seen any sheets for sale that match the way my ADHD brain works

@@stephanielcowart6867 You are so right there are several ways to handle taxes. She is making enough now she needs to talk to a cpa and set up quarterly payments. She is doing wonderful on so many areas. She has a history of getting caught short on taxes. I just want the best for her.
