Thank you so much for making this! I am really super new to midi but I need to wrap my head around midi programming for the H90. This answered all of my questions and was explained on a level that I could easily understand. Thanks again!!
Thanks for the great H-90 tutorials! I look forward to more videos... Questions regarding Midi: - Can I also switch individual presets (A or B) on and off? - Is the Load-CC (your #1) a toogle switch? Or do I have to give an on and off command at a time? - Does the H-90 also accept program commands?
Yes, you can switch A and B individually. Yes, the 'load' CC is a toggle.Yes, you can send PC number messages which will correspond to the number in the current playlist.
Great videos on H90! I'm getting it down pretty quick with the aid of your videos and the time you spend putting them online. Question: Let's say you setup an expression pedal per your last video, not on a preset. You set it to adjust MIX parameter. However, you would like to program a hotswitch to turn off the MIX assignment and make it a volume pedal, instead of MIX adj pedal. Or if you will, assign it to INPUT gain. To me, the quickest way to do this on 'the same preset' is to make a hotswitch. Thanks for any help! I would make a seperate video on this method (if it's possible) as with a push of the performance button, you could have say, 3 hotswitches for changing action of one expression pedal!
Thanks. Glad you found them useful. I can't think of a way of doing what you want. A workaround might be to have 2 duplicated presets with different expression assignments and switch between them.
@GuitarStuffChannel thank you for this video. Is there any noticeable latency when switching programs on the H90 from the morningstar? My use case is having several H90 programs as "snapshots" for the different parts of a song. Currently, I am sending PC messages to the H90 from my Helix when I change snapshots. The changes are not super smooth...
I haven't tested the delay when switching programmes, but it certainly won't change if you send the pc message from a different controller. If the algorithms are the same you could maybe send CC messages to change settings with no delay. For example, increase the mix or change the delay time.
@@GuitarStuffChannel "but it certainly won't change if you send the pc message from a different controller", good to know, thank you! The algos are usually different in my case, but that's also good to know.
@@GuitarStuffChannel at 9:43 you said you were going to leave the more advanced things to another video! I am about to start programming my h90 with the mc6 and i'm intimidated !
@@GuitarStuffChannel I think that is what I am looking for. Going along with my question above, how can I tell what the pc numbers are assigned or listed in the h90? Hope that question makes sense, I am new to midi.
I have a GIGRIG G3, and I am trying to set up my expression pedal from my G3 to operate the Global mix for whatever preset have chosen. On my G3, the options I can program are as follows:, Channel, Heel, Toe, and control. Not sure what I would set the H90 to do?. I tried picking CC#2 for the channel # but my H90 is actually on Channel 1, Not sure if you have any pointers for me lol. This G3 works seamlessly with Strymon but Eventide is really fighting me. (Not sure if this even makes sense lol, I am confused)
I can't really troubleshoot from here, but at least you need to transmit midi on the correct channel (to match the H90 channel). I think when you say 'control' you mean which CC number the H90 is expecting. Heel and Toe set the range - say from 0 to 100.
@@GuitarStuffChannel Hey!!! I got it this morning So psyched hahaha It was what you said for some reason i had to name mix cc#10, cc#2 it didnt like go figure) So its “ ON/ch1/heel/toe/10( for cc#10 which i named mix cc#10 on H90 mix global)
This is a great tutorial! I have a question about setting specific programs from the h90 to a preset or scene on my midi controller, How can you tell what the midi program number is?
Glad you like it. It's just the programme number in the current playlist. So if it says '27' on the screen then it's PC27. Couldn't be any simpler I think.
Can you program (via multiple messages) the ability to jump presets and have their bypass/engage status set? So, in essence just jump from one preset to another that has only one algorithm engaged?
CC = Control Change, not Continuous Controller. PC = Program Change. I realize the difference might seem to be semantic, but Control Changes at least as likely to be a static value than a continuous value, so the word Control is important.

Not sure if you're joking. I might do another video about using pc messages.

Are you able to run effects from different banks at the same time?
Ex: running delay in bank 1, but want to also run a chorus with it from bank 4.
Start with this video on the basics. ua-cam.com/video/nHPjbvIQznc/v-deo.html

It depends on your midi controller. The Morningstar controller that I use can send more than one message with each button press so you can do it.
