Have not watched your site in a long time. What luck. I just (today) installed a Aluminess spare tire carrier on our 2.2 Ontour (dual rear wheels). My tire store can't supply a rim. A 'special' Ford only rim!! $468 plus sales tax. ugggg. On our way next week to Kearney Nebraska to watch the bird migration. We have had our Ontour for over a year now and I just couldn't put off getting a spare any longer. Your tire failure reinforces the need. Safe travels.

Great video! It really surprised and annoys me that the Pleasure Way doesn’t come with the full size spare that the Transit normally comes with. The Coachman Beyond, which has the same chassis as the OnTour 2.2 has one, but the 2.2 doesn’t come with it, necessitating this mod. I put a deposit and factory order for a 2.2 at the Hershey show and didn’t notice that there wasn’t one underneath. I discovered a couple of days later on a FB forum.

Speaking for myself, I really appreciated that after the representative explained things to you, you separately demonstrated how to do everything. I know in a short span of time you have had two unfortunate flat tires; my thought with a 2.2 dully, the risk of getting a flat tire only increases and therefore it may be a prudent investment. Considering your experience with the company and the length of time you’ve had it, can you share your intentions with your new 2024 2.0? Do you plan to use the same company? And if so, will you get the same option as you did previously? Finally, did the company mention the durability of the Ford door in carrying that extra weight over the years? The Aluminess attaches to the frame at the hinge points, using the same bolts that attach the hinges. We are having our carrier moved to our new 2024 OnTour 2.0. We will need to purchase a new rim for our spare tire, as our current rim has 5 lugs, and the rim for the AWD 2024 has 6 lugs. We will probably go to Discount Tire for an after-market rim, as we did last time.

How do you like your Recpro Houghton AC? Are you okay with it not being controlled from your touch panels? Also what made you decide on the Aluminess carrier. Seems a bit pricey but definitely like the quality and ability to have a ladder and spare tire together.
We LOVE LOVE our Recpro Houghton AC. We actually prefer that it is not controlled from the touch panels because we are able to control the AC while we are laying down on the bed with the remote control. We make sure we always keep the control in the same spot. We went with Aluminess carrier because we like that you can step on the very top of the ladder. The top of the ladder for some other brands are round / curvy and you can't safely step on them. @@tdadventures Awesome thank you! Was picking up my 2021 OT 2.2 yesterday and during the walkthrough the Dometic stopped working. I had turned it on twice before when we initially saw the van but super happy it happened before purchasing. They are going to replace it with the Houghton or Truma. The Truma does communicate with the panels but the Houghton is a bit more economical so they will prob opt for that.
@@Studiovette Oh wow. Talk about lucky that it happened before purchasing. That will save you the time and stress of having to replace the AC yourself. All we know is that Truman AC just came out and it is too big for OnTour 2.0's roof. Houghton has been around longer and we know that we have been very happy with it. It is so nice to be able to run Houghton off of 15 amps shore power.
Having the spare tire will add some piece of mind. Was impressed with David's agility scamper up the ladder. Was the install during last year's western trip or during the last couple of weeks?
Hi Jeff. Hi Karen. The install was done this year on 2/14/2023. Our RV related videos are more current than our travel videos. We have one more or maybe videos of Florida where will we will be kayaking with the adorable manatees. After that, it will be Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California. We are in CA now.
In regards to the two flat tires that you had previously, is there a reason why you did not use the 24 hour a day seven day a week, Ford motor company roadside assistance? According to the quick reference guide, it is complementary roadside assistance and includes towing, battery boosting, fuel delivery, lockout assistance, flat tire, service, winch out, and other roadside services. We have been AAA member all our lives, it made sense for us to just add AAA RV roadside assistance when we got our RV. We heard others mention Progressive, Good Sam, and more.

David we now have our 2023 Ontour 2.2 on the Transit 2022. There is a jack located behind a panel in the passenger side door well. Be interested to know if yours does.
@@gostay-2.2 Oh Wow !! We went and checked and yes yes...we DO have a jack under the passenger seat after opening the passenger door. Thank you so much for mentioning that. We did not know that. We only knew that the RV does not come with a spare tire (we assumed it also did not come with a jack) We knew that it comes with a fix and go kit because the RV is over 9,000 pounds and it is not recommended that we change the flat tire ourselves due to safety concerns.

Have not watched your site in a long time. What luck. I just (today) installed a Aluminess spare tire carrier on our 2.2 Ontour (dual rear wheels). My tire store can't supply a rim. A 'special' Ford only rim!! $468 plus sales tax. ugggg. On our way next week to Kearney Nebraska to watch the bird migration. We have had our Ontour for over a year now and I just couldn't put off getting a spare any longer. Your tire failure reinforces the need. Safe travels.

Great video! It really surprised and annoys me that the Pleasure Way doesn’t come with the full size spare that the Transit normally comes with. The Coachman Beyond, which has the same chassis as the OnTour 2.2 has one, but the 2.2 doesn’t come with it, necessitating this mod. I put a deposit and factory order for a 2.2 at the Hershey show and didn’t notice that there wasn’t one underneath. I discovered a couple of days later on a FB forum.

Speaking for myself, I really appreciated that after the representative explained things to you, you separately demonstrated how to do everything. I know in a short span of time you have had two unfortunate flat tires; my thought with a 2.2 dully, the risk of getting a flat tire only increases and therefore it may be a prudent investment. Considering your experience with the company and the length of time you’ve had it, can you share your intentions with your new 2024 2.0? Do you plan to use the same company? And if so, will you get the same option as you did previously? Finally, did the company mention the durability of the Ford door in carrying that extra weight over the years? The Aluminess attaches to the frame at the hinge points, using the same bolts that attach the hinges. We are having our carrier moved to our new 2024 OnTour 2.0. We will need to purchase a new rim for our spare tire, as our current rim has 5 lugs, and the rim for the AWD 2024 has 6 lugs. We will probably go to Discount Tire for an after-market rim, as we did last time.

Hello. Our RV is covered with dirt and dust from driving on dirt roads. We hope to find a car wash this weekend when we leave the campground so we can look at the bottom of the RV for you.

How do you like your Recpro Houghton AC? Are you okay with it not being controlled from your touch panels? Also what made you decide on the Aluminess carrier. Seems a bit pricey but definitely like the quality and ability to have a ladder and spare tire together.
We LOVE LOVE our Recpro Houghton AC. We actually prefer that it is not controlled from the touch panels because we are able to control the AC while we are laying down on the bed with the remote control. We make sure we always keep the control in the same spot. We went with Aluminess carrier because we like that you can step on the very top of the ladder. The top of the ladder for some other brands are round / curvy and you can't safely step on them. @@tdadventures Awesome thank you! Was picking up my 2021 OT 2.2 yesterday and during the walkthrough the Dometic stopped working. I had turned it on twice before when we initially saw the van but super happy it happened before purchasing. They are going to replace it with the Houghton or Truma. The Truma does communicate with the panels but the Houghton is a bit more economical so they will prob opt for that.
@@Studiovette Oh wow. Talk about lucky that it happened before purchasing. That will save you the time and stress of having to replace the AC yourself. All we know is that Truman AC just came out and it is too big for OnTour 2.0's roof. Houghton has been around longer and we know that we have been very happy with it. It is so nice to be able to run Houghton off of 15 amps shore power.
Having the spare tire will add some piece of mind. Was impressed with David's agility scamper up the ladder. Was the install during last year's western trip or during the last couple of weeks?
Hi Jeff. Hi Karen. The install was done this year on 2/14/2023. Our RV related videos are more current than our travel videos. We have one more or maybe videos of Florida where will we will be kayaking with the adorable manatees. After that, it will be Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California. We are in CA now.

In regards to the two flat tires that you had previously, is there a reason why you did not use the 24 hour a day seven day a week, Ford motor company roadside assistance? According to the quick reference guide, it is complementary roadside assistance and includes towing, battery boosting, fuel delivery, lockout assistance, flat tire, service, winch out, and other roadside services. What roadside assistance program do you recommend?
We have been AAA member all our lives, it made sense for us to just add AAA RV roadside assistance when we got our RV. We heard others mention Progressive, Good Sam, and more.
Does the van come with a jack?
Hi Ronald. The van does come with a jack. See comment below. It also comes with the fix and go kit. We used the kit in this video. ua-cam.com/video/dutHKlN_0sY/v-deo.html. The spare tire is there so we can have AAA change the tire on the spot so we can be on our way.
David we now have our 2023 Ontour 2.2 on the Transit 2022. There is a jack located behind a panel in the passenger side door well. Be interested to know if yours does.
@@gostay-2.2 Oh Wow !! We went and checked and yes yes...we DO have a jack under the passenger seat after opening the passenger door. Thank you so much for mentioning that. We did not know that. We only knew that the RV does not come with a spare tire (we assumed it also did not come with a jack) We knew that it comes with a fix and go kit because the RV is over 9,000 pounds and it is not recommended that we change the flat tire ourselves due to safety concerns.
Ronald. Correction!!! The Van comes with a jack. It is under the passenger seat but you have to open the passenger door to access it.
