This commercial made me cry. I was a little Black girl who wanted to be a veterinarian, equestrian, and so many other things. But to my father, my interests weren't "Black" enough. So he spent my entire life shitting on everything I wanted to do, making me feel so small and unconfident. As a result, I never pursued my dreams. I let him speak negativity over my life and cow me into doing things just to make money and not what I held a passion for. I'm 45 now, and I feel like I've wasted my life. Support your kids, man. They're not here to live the life you wanted. Let them pursue whatever makes them happy in this short life. They need that!

Please please please stop making ads meant to blur the lines between Purdue Global (just rebranded Kaplan University) and the actual Purdue. This is unfair to the generations of students that trusted their education to Purdue! Rebrand the Kaplan acquisition, and stop the damage to Purdue alumni.

Thank you for your response. After reviewing your link, I would still appreciate Mitch not turning the school I love into University of Phoenix by rebranding a for-profit school (Kaplan University) as Purdue. The Purdue Global branding is dishonest and intentionally misleading. You are actively harming the value of real Purdue diplomas that students worked so hard to achieve.
@@et9277 Purdue Global is a public non-profit institution, it is not a for-profit school as you claim. Purdue is expanding its reach to others, and I think it is great. Purdue Global is regionally accredited, just as Purdue University is, so it is a real degree with real, rigorous courses. The Purdue Global Board of Trustees is appointed by the the Purdue University Board of Trustees, and the President of the University oversees Purdue Global, just like they do the main campus and any other satellite campuses. Every major university is adding online satellites to expand their reach. We're in the 21st century and technology has allowed for a much larger portion of the population to attain higher education and that is a great thing. Purdue expanding their ability to bring quality higher education to more people should not be something that angers you. Additionally, Purdue Global is not tarnishing, by any means, Purdue University degrees, just as other satellites have not tarnished Purdue degrees. Purdue Global is separately accredited and the diplomas clearly state Purdue University Global, not Purdue University, West Lafayette. Education is for everyone and the more educated the population, the faster we will grow and advance as a society.
@@et9277 I agree that purchasing Kaplan was perhaps the wrong move to create a larger online presence, however, I think that the purchase was mainly made for the existing platform and structure that Kaplan provided rather than building Purdue Global from the ground up. I think the important thing to know is that Purdue Global is not Kaplan and that Purdue has made, and continues to make major improvements to the school to bring it up to Purdue University standards. If Purdue Global is a public non-profit, online satellite of Purdue University and operates at the expected level of excellence that Purdue does, then I think that it is a great addition. I think it's important to focus on what Purdue Global is now and where it is going rather than what Kaplan was. I wouldn't consider it a rebranding as much as I would a complete remodel. Purdue simply bought an existing house and flipped it rather than building a new house in order to create a large online school.
@@jerrypro4955 The constant advertising of PUG has led to confusion and embarrassing conversations with my coworkers. I was once extremely proud of my Purdue degree, and I still love the university. That being said, I try to avoid letting people know where I went to school. It’s too hard to explain that Purdue was a really good school when I attended. It’s too hard to explain that the ads they see on ESPN, google, television, and hundreds of websites are not reflective of where I went to school. It’s hard for them to see the difference when PUG paid to come up before Purdue when you search for Purdue University on Google. You cannot even watch a basketball game in WL without seeing Purdue Global written all over the sidelines. How does this not blur the lines of the two institutions? I do not believe in the PUG/Phoenix/Devry model of online education. Instead, I worked assiduously to go to a respected school. I feel like a part of me died when the school I worked so hard to attend became synonymous with Kaplan. I want people to have access to education, but I feel like the way this was done was both dishonest and harmful.
As others have said, please stop with this branding around Purdue Global. You are ruining the value of a Purdue degree and tarnishing the reputation of current students, faculty, and alumni.

Mitch has destroyed my pride I had in my Purdue degree. I avoid sharing the fact I am a Purdue graduate because of Mitch’s self serving destruction of the university. I chose Purdue over other options. I had no idea Mitch would turn it into University of Phoenix in order to advance his own political career.
Alex, I encourage you to write Mung. We need more voices calling out this harmful scam before the damage is irreparable.

@@et9277I completely agree! I HATE seeing this “Purdue Global online” shit on the commercials on TV and UA-cam all the time! No, no NO. I lived at Hawkin’s Hall Grad House ON CAMPUS for four years. In MY opinion as an alumni, I think a REAL Boilermaker has to walk in snow a lot and live in the middle of nowhere in West Lafayette, Indiana to experience how rigorous the studying really is. I remember studying super HARD courses where professors wouldn’t let a student use a calculator for midterms and finals. I hope Captain Sully and Neil Armstrong agree because they both sure lived on campus to earn their degrees. Anyone wanting to apply and live on campus in Indiana, I’m letting you know that this university is very difficult. You will be studying nonstop all day and all night.
A good amount of debt preparing me for a dying economy in courses taught by people who have specifically avoided participation in the real economy?
