I think it applies to not just MBA, but all sorts of academic courses Engg, Medical, Arts, etc. One have to aim & strategize steps to achieve the desired outcome, which will help you to choose the path, the right institution, which extra curricular will help. Today some science institutions included courses that may help you to be an entrepreneur or to run a start-up or atleast set a business & make your own livelihood. Just have look at what they're providing. And, as Ankur said on building the network, well for that you've to go out & attend seminars, expos & events like that & talk to people, just throw off hesitation.
