You know I love you guys and love my membership to AVL. The only one I pay for. So This is not directed at you, Kevin or Rudy but the pilots and staff in that locked cabin of a passenger 747-8 Am I the only pilot who see this as a blanket disregard to the sterile cockpit rule on US soil, before a takeoff? This stuff is bad. The Sterile Cockpit Rule Section 121.542 requires compliance with sterile flight deck rules. 8.5. 1 Section 121.542 prohibits flightcrews from performing nonessential activities during the following phases of flight: taxi, takeoff, landing, and all other flight operations conducted below 10,000 feet, except cruise flight
We never encourage any pilots to do this. As you can tell we were not expecting this. They did what they did, with no push from us. We are about safety first!

They will get a talking to that's for absolute certainty. A little blemish on the record to remember the moment but isn't the end of the world.
