Very interesting, thank you! Any idea what a pin with a picture of Bill Clinton in his early College Days, bought in the 1980's-early 1990's might go for ? I believe it says " My President",which I bought in Woodstock, N. Y.. Thanks!
How can you protect yourself if you sell one of the higher price pins and a return is generated only to receive a fake ?
l HAVE plenty of badge pins from the 60"s where the pin sticks out below the button ?? campaign buttons and others ...
Nice!
Don, I bought 10 pins for $1. One sold for $395, two for over $100, 3 sold for $50 or more 2 were approx. $20 and 2 were commons ($3-5). Best pin lot I've gotten to date, all were sold within 6 weeks. As to longer pin being pre 1942 there are exceptions, I am listing one today, 1948 and I know Hong Kong put out a bunch in the 60s. Just FYI for dating.
This is very encouraging. Did you sell them on eBay?
How do you know how much to list for?
@RealDealMcNeal, where did you source for those pins and on which platform do you sell please ??
c d....I would try worthpoint or google lens
@@cd2659 Google lens then worthpoint is how I do it.
I'll pick up any unusual item I see if it's a fair price, even if it turns out to be worthless it's a great education. Great video as per usual.
I have a bag of pins from every Disney movie in the 90's that the employees from K- Mart had to wear each time a new movie came out! There are also pins from other blockbuster movie pins too!
I was given a small collection of Victorian pin badges by my grandfather Each one is a photo of a prominent person of the day. My grandfather kindly placed a handwritten name inside the back of each badge. As you have commented the pins stick out from the side and are very sharp.
I found loads of pins in the attic , really small ones with teddy on them.
I was so happy today, having been binge watching you lately. Cleaned up after an estate sale all free-picked up an album of b&w photos, older placemats & a box full of vintage sheet music just to name a couple items. I’ve been learning a lot watching you & wanted to send a big Thank You to you for sharing your knowledge. ❤️
Thanks for the info, I just got ahold of some pins or badges, from a storage locker +some old stamps!. I love the I survived the blizzard of 78 ! Which is cool, because I was delivering newspapers in Dayton Ohio, during the blizzard 🥶 of 78!.. Again thanks for all the info you kick out on your channel.
I was just telling myself this weekend that I need to work on my bucket of buttons death pile!
Another lesson from the Professor! (Now I’m going treasure hunting...)
I just wanted to thank you for these videos on collectables. It has helped me so much to redefine my store. You have been a blessing. So thank you.
Good stuff Don, as many I had NO idea I might find buttons in bins or antique malls that are worth that much. Good way to date the age as well, thanks much!
This is great. I have some old buttons sitting in a box. I was thinking of selling them in a lot but now I'm gonna do some research. Thanks. And now, I am craving an Almond Joy. Lol. :)
I've been reselling for over a decade, and I've never really branched out of my comfort zone of vintage toys and housewares - but I read about your channel on Reddit, and I'm blown away! Thanks for giving me some motivation to venture out of my comfort zone! My local thrift has had a large bucket of pinbacks for a few months, and I've walked right by it every day....Oops! :)
Always buy something new if it's really cheap and looks interesting/quality. Great way to branch out
That's the beauty of this industry. Usually it stays right there for two years because everyone passes it up 😅 it's still there for you to go back to
Great tutorial on pins, Don. You are so knowledgeable.
Excellent info, as always-thanks much!
What a great lesson. I needed this knowledge and reminder because I see pins at times and forget to look, but now I will make sure. Thanks.
I've got 4 one gallon bags of old school pins. I've got some the are in the 20's and 30's
Yet here you are, commenting- instead of researching them?! Lol WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?
If ever interested in selling let me know 1stophotrodshop at gmal
Where do you keep them?
one rule of thumb with a lot of political buttons is the "losers" of those elections. People would often keep the "winner" pins but throw away or scrap the losers, so the loser pins are almost always much more rare and collectable.
Don, I've been watching many of your videos and I really appreciate the education you give on items. I am going to jump into selling used items on e-bay pretty soon and a lot of the information you have shared has been invaluable. Thank you so much for all the info you give. Keep up the good work👍
Don thank you . Your shows are so knowledgeable. Inspired to collect more.
Awesome information! Learning so much from you. Thank you for sharing. Who would believe the value of such a simple item!
Back in 2005 I put together a contest-winning outfit that comprised of a jacket full of pins, it was a replica of a local cartoon-show host wore from my childhood. For a couple years there I kept an eye out for vintage pins to add to the outfit. Had I known about potential value of certain pins, my searching could have been more obsessive.
Are u from Portland by chance?
Thanks, Don. You are a treasure!
I still have the 3” diameter pin that the local public transit agency gave out to passengers who rode on one of the busses that had been loaned to shuttle people to the Summer Olympics here in the US; I don’t remember exactly what year that was, but it was probably in the early 2000s.
Excellent video. Most Ebay video are a "Sales wrap up" of what the person SOLD that week. This was a very informative, well done educational video. Thanks
Thank you for sharing this. I have a nice sized bag of pins - packed away somewhere!
16:1 cute pin. Love it
I have done really well with pinback buttons and pins. Easy to list, easy to ship
Cool video. Thanks for posting. Happy Holidays.
Omg! I had a jacket that I put all types of buttons on starting In Middle all the way through HS; I always preferred to be different. Oh how I could kick myself I got rid of the Jacket with all the Buttons. Thanks Don
Thank you Don! Such an interesting video!
I will defiantly look at buttons different now!!
Thank you for sharing this information & knowledge!
Thank you Don, you are always... Expanding my knowledge. 😁
I'll have to dig out that old pin I have. Great info. Thanks !
I never thought of stuff like that having so much value. I wish I had not thrown out all my pins from the sixties and fifties. Omg! I will never look at them the same again. Thank you.👍🏻😊
I have SO many buttons/ pins that I have barely started to really understand. This is hopeful and helpful info, thank you!
Love this channel thank you for your wisdom!
What an interesting and informative video! I definitely will check out your other videos.
I remember getting a "Green Hornet" ring in a cellophane wrapping in a cereal box in the 1960s. I was just a young girl at the time and I had a lot of fun wearing it!
Thank you for your time and information!
TY, sir. I need to get out more and check out some places!
Cool! Makes me want to run to the antique mall up the street immediately!
Always find and grab pins :) Love the commercial at the end. :)
This is awesome video! I bought about a year ago.. At a local auction about 20 pins.. Vintage. Ww2 Canadian and British. Etc. Some 1913 rail car one... I knew nothing about them but was intrigued. Paid about 50 if I recall. Listed 5-6 of them. Sold 2 for about 300 total. Many of them I couldn't find anything at all on. Many had no comps on ebay one or two obscure auction sites had sold.... Still neat pieces. :) ive held on to them. Paid up for them but was very happy with it. Spent hours researching and enjoyed it all.
Always great content from you don ,Happy holidays to you & your family ////
Been in e-commerce for 10 years and I was not aware of these. GREAT informative video. I've liked, subscribed and rungthe bell! Thank you!
Thank you for sharing this information!
You talk about customer service. That's tough! One of my first jobs I was 16 years old was telemarketing aluminum siding for homes here in Florida... I went home and cried every night.
Thank you Don!
Always great content. Thank you.
Thanks, Don, you opened my eyes!
Great video. Got to look at my pins. Started buying and collecting a few years back but no one available to inform me about the worth or what to look for. Thanks for this video. You've renewed my interest!❤️
Don I love watching your videos. History and selling ! Really fun!
That U of M pin was for a stadium they sold bricks for. They tore it down, played in the Metrodome and moved back to the original spot.
Very fascinating I wasn’t aware that pins could be so valuable, will definitely keep them in mind. Awesome information, cheers.
Wow! You have me excited to start buying Pins! Thank you!
As always lots of great info. Thank you.
Great information, as usual. Thanks
You always come with the wealth of knowledge, thanks for the great videos😁
Sweet Thank you for the awesome old pin information. 😎
I bought a lot of pins in an estate auction a bunch of them are Whitehead and Hoag with paper label intact. Thanks you for putting them on my radar

Ugh!! I had no idea.... will now know to check 😱
Whew...😓...seems a bit overwhelming, but I'm gonna toss myself in the mix and take a chance on picking up some pins when I see them while out and about...👌🏼💯✔

Don one of the best videos I've seen of yours yet! I haven't watched all of your videos, but I am trying trying to catch up.. Thank you for your content. Please please make more videos like this!
Thanks for the information didn't know pins and buttons sell for that much
Great info. Thank you.
Love your shirt. I live here in Hollister, California!
I see pins all the time at auction and usually very few bids I am going to have to start checking them.
Great info ty!
Very informative. Thank you.
Years ago (1980s), we bought a coffee can of old political buttons dating back to Teddy Roosevelt for $50.. sold most in the $50-$350 range each. Another score was a blanket full of old watch fobs, maybe 300 for $10.. made a killing on those too.
What are ????”Watch Fobs????? Never heard of those before nor would I know what to look for either. Thank you for your help! From one reseller to another. Stay Safe and Warm!💜🙏
Really an excellent video Don, enjoyed it and learned a lot, best of all I have a bag of pins that I still need to go through.
Great content. What I've done with small antiques like pins and ribbons that Don't have much value or would be hard to sell on their own, is place them in shadow boxes as curiosity collections. These may be the junk draw remnants that you have leftover after your main sells, that you may otherwise give away again or sell as a laege lot of misc. The presentation sells the lot. Maybe I spent $5 on the frame and items, and flip it for 40-100. I got the idea from other sellers who build presentation boxes with rather ordinary things IE fossils or shells. Ie sharks fossils/teeth from Florida. Individually they're common, but together they're a nice collection. Go through the trouble to make ID tags as well, and they sell all the quicker. A red or black velvet back (sold by the roll) inside the shadow box, some hot glue or pins securing (but not damaging) the items, and you've got a very smart looking decorator piece. If you rent a booth, these small and relatively inexpensive presentations got more people coming to see what all I had for sale. Online, having listings like these got more people looking at my whole inventory and not a few would make multiple purchases of the other, more valuable, collectables.
Thanks, I always learn someting new from you. I appreciate it very much.
Really good information!
Great to know !! Thank you
Great video .. learned a lot
Good advice. Thanks.
Nothing makes me happier than picking up a bin of old buttons!!
Wow really good info man. I had no idea.
This is awesome! Thanks!

Lol, my hubby loved The Green Hornet! Lol
Oh wow I’ve got dozens of these but in the UK we call them badges, we call pins the ones with a needle sticking up in the middle you push onto a separate clip button
I remember being at the 1980 Winter Olympic Games and the Star Trek bracelet in my Happy Meal.
