You were not lying when you said bolt cutters! I just picked some gutter brushes up from Bunnings and on the way home realised I may need them - Thought wire cutters may do... Nup. Still loving the vids! Need to delve into the brewing ones soon
I wasn't expecting it to looks that good. It's amazing how simple it is to make trees like this and they look awesome too, which makes you equally awesome. Thanks for all the tips.
ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh i have been trying to make trees for so many years, i have tryed almost every thing and nothing looks right, your way of doing it is the perfect answer those trees look awesome and so so simple i am now off to go buy me some of that stuff ill have forests in no time now :D thanks for sharing that with us mate your a life saver :D
Thank you so much for this one. I needed some trees and my local hobby store sold them for an insane price. And they look exactly the same. So im definitly gonna try it. Thanks mate.
Nice. Though I wonder if maybe you would want to spray paint them dark green or brown before flocking, just to make them have that extra level of colour depth.
Next trip to the Home Depot or Lowes (USA home improvement stores, Wal Mart is a general goods department store) I'm going to buy some of those leaf guards and, as you say, bugger it and give it a go. Yes I know that's vulgar, but I love the way you Aussies talk. Question, I don't make my own flock, would Woodland Scenics blended turf be appropriate?
The video is great and I am definitely going to use this. What made me subscribe to you however, was how you tried giving out suggestions to where international viewers could get their hands on the equipment. I seldom see that on youtube, so you deserve a sub more than most. (I am from Australia too btw)
+Matthew Hargreaves. The Geelong Gamers Guild, we meet Monday nights in the guides hall near the city center. There are also 2 other clubs (W.A.R. and T.W.A.T I believe they go by.) here that exist but I don't know specifics of.
I love this idea, I'm a new modeller for 28mm war games, I'm currently making an American war of independence Fort, these trees look pretty amazing, I have got some gutter brush from eBay, I think I got about 4 meters for about £8 bit of a bargain, the challenge is basing them, would it be better to base a few together on a piece of MDF rather than trying to stable them on a single round disc?
Luke at Luke's APS/ Geek Gaming sent me to your channel. Great stuff here. I'm subscribing, and looking forward to checking out your content. Cheers mate!
Hi, I tried out this method and ended up with nothing but a huge pile of fallen bristles and a splitting headache! Did you use a specific brand of gutter-guard? Did you need to prep it at all beforehand?
Awesome :)...I couldn't hear (on my cell) what the spray u used was or is called? I also wonder if u could use old fake christmas tree as they look simular as well... thanks for the video :)
The spray I use is from 3M called Super 77 ... it is a spray adhesive. You can use Christmas trees, they work very well. We dont often get them here in Australia unlike the US.
Caledonian - Sure ... I have a few historical armies milling around the place which really need some love and attention (and a paint brush), nothing massive but reasonable starter armies.
I'm having trouble stopping the flock from coming off the trees after I've made them. Anyone got any suggestions on how to keep the flock from falling off?
Absolute ripper, mate. So easy, so effective.
WOW. Amazed by the simplicity but yet the end result. You're a genius Viv!

Actually I wonder of there aren't some other twisted wire products that might also work, chimney cleaning brushes maybe? I'll be keeping an eye out.
I've just started to make trees, so great idea on the pines. Have to go to Masters and buy some of that stuff.

They're pretty durable trees too. We've got some made like that in a club in geelong and they're still looking good after 10-15 years.
Joel Kviz Where on earth is the war gaming club in Geelong?... I couldn't find one till I moved up to Melbourne...

best tree tutorial I've seen! Thanks a lot!
Very cool...and if you can't find the gutter guards you could always use and old artificial Christmas tree limb...then do the same process....
Freeking awesome Viv. Yours look way better than the GW one. The premised one looked like it was made out of a loo brush!

What does it look like when you start with a dark flock, then roll it in a medium flock then dust in a light flock?
