Bartosz is truly Renaissance man. Being able to do art and programming at that level isn't something to sneeze at. Bought your Garment Tool some time ago and I'll probably buy this one as well.
Being able to leave this mode and just use regular edit mode really makes this thing shine. THe problem with retopoflow for me is that you have to enter a whole damn mode with a loading time if I just want to stop and move a vertice and do regular edit mode or sculpt mode things.
DrawXray creates snap-cache when you enable DrawQuads tool, thus u may get small delay at tool initialization once, but then it is not recalculated/updated (unless you leave edit mode). it wont affect any other blender modeling tools - so, as u said, you can switch to any other build-in blender tool, without issues/delays. For me the best part of this tools is: I can now retopo with just one hand - just click and drag till the whole model is finished. With auto-radius I do not even have to resize the retopo brush size :) (shfit+F)
it may look similar, but the algorithm is quite different (f2 only check for adjacent edge by topology, DrawXray - searches for close edges based on proximity and alignement score). But yes, it may look like looped f2 from outside. Check out this time-stamp - ua-cam.com/video/ntjQUo7Lns8/v-deo.html f2 would not work for this.
@@bartoszstyperek6306 sure, the realization is different and supported usecases are different (F2 is more oriented on per-vertex control so it is slower but more precise), but the purpose of a stripe modeling (extruding stripes and filling the gaps) is quite similar. At the time we've tried to achieve the same result by making separate drawing stripes tool and F2, but didn't thought that they could be combined into a single tool. Fantastic job!
@@1DInciner thanks for your kind words. I will release new small update soon - that improves snapping algo ( see the strip not being glued to neighbor edges at ua-cam.com/video/ntjQUo7Lns8/v-deo.html ) and I will add some basic cylinder wrapper . btw. at beginning I also wanted to just make drawing strips tool. Then i realized it would be cool if drawn strips could be glued to close geo, and it ended becoming similar to f2 (it just confirms that f2 design as tool is great)
It's very cool addition to already addon. Bro, can i request one more feature for this tool? Can you add vertex tweak option like in retopoflow? Some shortcut button to switch mode for quick and carefull moving points? It would godblessing, not a tool at all. You are doing great stuff. Thank you!
Hi Bartosz. I bought the smooth volume brush as well. Very useful in combination with the drawXray. I have a small request or maybe I can do it easy by myself if you can give me an advice: can you add a controller for the pull value as well, like withe the size and the smoothness? It would help to speed things up. Thanks.
@@bartoszstyperek6306 Hmm. I updated directly from blender, but the I only have 3 options for key maps: Shift F,F and Left Mouse. Are you sure it's added in this version?

is this versions 4.0.0? I purchased the snapping option back when it was $6 and this is the one that comes up on the gumroad page when I just checked. Thanks for the awesome tool! Can't wait to try it!
this is free update for people who got draw xray - with snapping. U may grab latest 4.0 version from gumroad, and install just like I showed in video above. After that new update can be downloaded automatically from new built-in auto-updater (new in drawXray 4 )
Hello Bartosz. It's an amazing add on. Played with it for a while. Ehat I don't understand is how you can use all the tools (move, delete vertexes etc) while still in xray quads mode? Maybe it doesn't work for me because I use industry standard? Can you help me, please? Thanks
yes, the industry standard keyboard may be the issue. I use Right Click to select and then : G, R and S for transforms. you can change keys in Blenderr preferences > Keymap > search for Xray - in there u can change the 'Draw Quad bush' hotkeys. Hope it helps
@@bartoszstyperek6306 Can you tell me what is the command called (the selection command) that you have mapped Right click on? maybe I can assign that command in my industry standard version and it works using middle click for me hopefully
@@claudiumanea5337 the command is 'mesh.quad_xray_brush' . But as mentioned above, instead of creating new one - just change existing one from LMB to something else.

best addon till now so far thanks man youree the best
Really amazing! This will boost doing retopology in blender so much!
woah! . workflow wise i always use draw xray but this is next level to me. i love it. thank you for your work!

Glad you like it!
