  • Welcome to this special edition of The Pace Report reporting from this year's 2016 Detroit Jazz Festival.
Guitarist and composer John Abercrombie celebrates the anniversary of his debut ECM Records release of "Timeless" this month. The album was a monumental feat for John as it introduced the world to him and his compositions. "Timeless" featured Jack DeJohnette on drums and Jan Hammer on keys and was produced by ECM Records founder Manfred Eicher.
In a career spanning some 50 decades, John has recorded and played with the likes of Dave Liebman, Gato Barbieri, Dave Holland, Charles Lloyd, Michael Brecker, Joe Lovano, Gil Evans, and Kenny Wheeler.
I had a chance to sit down with John briefly after his set in Detroit to talk about recording his debut record, how that record shaped his solo career, and how he's developed as a composer.
To find out more info on John's upcoming tour dates or to order his recordings please visit him online at www.johnabercrombie.com or Facebook.com/john-abercrombie

What a treasure to have this interview. Could listen to him all day, either the music or the spoken word.
