Everything about this watch doesn't make sense, especially for me and my tastes. The gold, the purple black fade, the day date color mismatch, the bad bracelet. Mine will be here in 7-10 days.
I think they may have picked it because of this distinctive design. It's definitely not modern looking and if you're going to make a reissue you might as well make one that really evokes the era.
Ben, let's agree to disagree. I absolutely love this watch design. Maybe, because I am older. I remember this design very well. You are right about the low quality bracelet and the modest water resistance. It's crap. Still, I would consider buying it. Thanks for showing it on your channel.
I just received mine (dark blue dial) in the mail. Watched this video 2 months ago and agreed with Ben. Last week i re-watched it and fell in love with the aesthetic. Just got it and it's even better looking in person! the bracelet is my only complaint, but its easily overlooked once its on the wrist. Very happy with this watch so far.
True, i am a hardcore Orient fanboy and own the vintage and reissued SK. I’ve received nothing but praise about this timepiece mostly by non watch people
I have an original one. My father bougt it for me when I was 14 as my first "serious" watch (7-melody Montana was my 1st watch and it was awful in any way). Now I'm 47 and I have big watch collection from chinese frankens to Omegas and I still have my old SK in perfect condition. BTW this SK was not as cheap those days as it is today. And now I want to have this reissue badly. For me it's a part of family history. They made it for me.

No. The original is more round, has more colors, has a plexiglass crystal, and is very different than this Revival/Reissue of the same name. The original was very 70's. Brassy Metal Points. Internal Bezel that rotates with a knob. The colors of the original were Green, Purple, and Red (sort of orange).
It reminds me of the cheaply-made watches from the 1960s and 70s that would have “Swiss movt Hong Kong dial” on the dial. It’s so upsetting to an Orient fan as I am
Epson on back dial means epson movt? and the way you review is amazing one. keep going brother. Best wishes from India. I agree there are franken watches in India a lot but i havent encountered any yet may be due to my good observations skills gifted to me by Lord Shree Ram jee
I like the watch, but the thing that kills it for me is that very large day/date window. It completely breaks up the dial. It might work if it was color matched with no border. But that's a color you don't see very often on dials, so that's cool.
I like these 70s retro reissues. Even if some of them are quite loud in their design, they have a lot of personality and individuality. This one is maybe not as good looking as some of the others you mentioned, but to be honest I don't think Orient make the best looking watches. They are solid everyday workhorses, but they should steal some of the designers from Seiko to make them look a bit sharper.

I like the design, but it's way too thick, and that folded bracelet is a real letdown at that price. It's a shame, cause otherwise it would've been an interesting alternative to all the other divers with common shapes that are all around the market.
Oh, come on, 90% of the Tristar series look much uglier (the remaining 10% are pretty cool though). And yes, at least this one has F6x22 series movement.

Orient may have got away with it if they A)removed the garish day/date window,B)called it the SK Compressor,C)hiked the bar rating,D)lowered the price.............................Shame...........
Very nice and so ORIENT, i don t like the folded bracelet (they look cheap now), but until 80/90 s folded links were normal also on expensive watches , so for a revival watch it s normal put this one instead solid links :) obviously the right price for a watch like It should not be higher than 150 euro/dollars.
Yeah I don’t know what happened with these particular watches but they are garbage! I ordered the Marshall a few years back with the internal rotating bezel from Long Island watch and it was minutes off in a day, returned it for another and same thing...that’s after he said it was adjusted to within spec. I then returned it for another color so I WOULD NOT get the same watch back and sure enough it was slow minutes in a day and the internal bezel was not moving at all. Finally, I returned the watch and cancelled my order. I own two Orient dive watches (mako and Ray ii) that have been a joy to own, but whatever happened with the 70’s reissue was crazy. Since that experience, I became a little skeptical of Orient.
If this watch had been the first Orient watch I ever saw, I would not currently own 4 Orient watches. My revulsion would have tainted the brand. I actually love my Orient watches, and am lusting after a few other models. That being said, they do come up with some truly ugly models. Also, they need to NEVER make another watch with a 21mm lug width.
I don't understand this review. It's like asking why Da Vinci chose that stupid background for the Mona Lisa when he could have gone with something more thematically relevant. This is pretty much a 1:1 clone of the original '70s design, which is exactly what it's meant to be. How is this a huge fail? What should they have done - design a whole new watch and call it a reissue? How would that make any sense at all?
Bought it here in india ..been wearing it for past 1 week..I just love this watch...looks stunning.. maybe it's all bout taste..I just love it....an absolute steller by orient...mine is in maroon color and it's look phenomenal
Kind of a missed opportunity it seems. I wanted to ask you, since we are into "Orient" today: do you know the Orient Chicane models? I stumbled upon one in a jewelry this week with a GORGEOUS red dial, for 157€. It was mesmerizing. It seems really rare. Any opinion?
Dude this watch is not for you. This is a watch for someone, who likes 70's style of watches - bright, loud and not necessarily sencible. It has clear Studio 54 vibes. Now ask yourself a question: would I dare to look like Elton John? If you can answer this question with a firm "no" than it is obvious this watch is not in your style at all.
Looks like both you and me are both cutting our own hair. Lol. Fyi I have been looking for the Casio edifice small watch in Canada. It is either not available or priced at 160 to 200 CAD. Too much by far.
Ben, why don't you apply as a consultant at Orient's? They can sure use one, imho, to stay tuned on what's trending over here and even in the rest of the world. Like yourself, I like symmetry on my watches: Orient made a small second Bambino with date and an open heart Bambino without date (in their last generation). So they did all this effort, I mean they have everything in place to do so, and yet the most obvious iteration (a no date Bambino) is nowhere to be seen.
Ben i request you to have a look at hmt watches from india, the company has stopped manufacturing the units but they are still available on ebay.hmt janata, resembles the Orient Bambino series.though they are different in terms of build quality.
I saw this on your blog. If the case was symmetrical I would have loved it. I still don't know if I like the dial, I'd probably prefer it without the black strips with the golden pips on the sides.
Finally, remove all the vintage features that make the charm of this watch, so this would look like most entry level automatic, with a round case shape, stick markers and a boring and far too common uniform dial background.
I love it i am gonna get one soon... Dont know man looks original and like nothing else on the market... Every watch these days kinda looks the same as one another.... This one is a breath of fresh air imo...
i like it actually. i don't care much for watch literature so it doesn't bother me. but i'm gunning for a gen 1 seiko monster so i'm not looking to acquire one at the moment.

Just picked this watch up for $160. The inner bi directional bezel is loose and moves by itself when i shake my wrist. Anyway to fix this?
Ben i request you to have a look at hmt watches from india, the company has stopped manufacturing the units but they are still available on ebay.hmt janata, resembles the Orient Bambino series.though they are different in terms of build quality.
With 5 bar it is more a toy than a watch. Overpriced. Not worth of the money. £60-£80 maybe. Anyway, 👍 for a brilliant review.
Tacky and gaudy as only 1970's design could be. I love it for its kitschness. But the WR is a deal breaker. It's a diver ffs.
You are too young to judge this re-issue. The whole ussr was salivating over this watch in the "comission" shops. 350 roubles!
I'm rather looking forward your review of the Orient Open Heart I saw popping in one of your recent videos!
I have an sk revival, seema to be an earlier version without the fade dial and a different case design. I like it a lot.
Can't believe this is the same company that released the mighty Kamasu. What the hell were they thinking? Good God that's a fugly watch!
Damn, you got a like just for that THICCC edit, got me good.
It really looks like the fake Seiko knock offs you find on eBay that originate in India. They’re about £3.
