I finally bought a torque wrench after years of winging it with the oil drain plug. I find the torque specs are similair on my 4 stroke machines @ about 15 foot pounds with a previously used crush washer.

I saw you use Fram oil filters, which I used to swear by them until I did some research on oil filters. Fram is one of the worst on the market, if not THE worst. I would suggest switching to Wix filters.

Changing everything to Wix/Napa filters now..you are correct!

What size socket do you need for the drain plug?

Josh .....that’s the one I have....problem....I go to start it and it flutters and try’s then I hit the gas petal and completely stops.....and out the exhaust smoke comes out and smells gasey.....not a oil smoke ....what do you think.....hope you can give me some idea.......2012......825i. Thanks Rick

What are your thoughts on STP oil filters? It looks like the STP oil filter for my 825i is part #S2808XL.
