Shizuya Hayashi, Medal of Honor, WWII

Under heavy enemy fire and separated from his unit near Cerasuolo, Italy, on November 30, 1943, Private Shizuya Hayashi led a fierce attack against enemy forces. After a review of the contributions of minority servicemen whose contributions might have been overlooked, President Clinton presented Hayashi with the Medal of Honor on June 21, 2000.
