Nothing better then a Black 500! My first ride was in a Black "C" model with a Legend Pilot Tom Hauptman in Hawaii. I was 15yrs old at the time. It was such a life changing event I pursued a flying career. Flew 500 series for 38 yrs! Great Video!!
7am Kauai flight…no clouds in a beautiful 500!…we got down and personal…awesome machine!
You don't tug on Superman's cape. You don't spit in the wind. You don't pull the mask off of the Lone Ranger, and you DON'T PLAY MUSIC ON HELICOPTER VIDEOS!!!!!
Hahahahahahahahaha
word
though this time its ok since its a montage
Especially with that 5-bladed beauty!
Very true
Great video. Grew up riding dirt bikes, hiking and eventually learning to fly over all that terrain. Love the close up of four peaks and weavers needle.
I L❤ve MD 500's......, plus
I L❤Ve Arizona!
It doesn't get ANY BETTER than this.
gosh.. this looks so fun!
The buzzard from gta has never looked cooler
Totally badass 🔥
🤘
Hi again, any chance you could upload this raw footage without the music? all the flying around in the mountains looks so amazing, especially that engine sound.
Awesome video! Love the glass panel!
Thanks! It's a pretty cool setup!
@@HeliWrk Do you know if MD plans on putting the same panel in the E model or NOTAR or is it solely for the 530F?
@@hondo500e I’m not 100% sure. I’d imagine the engine instruments and parameters are tailored to the C30 in the F model so they’d probably have to re-engineer some stuff.
@@hondo500e they debuted the 500E glass at HAI. New slimline panel!
@@supejc Yes! It’s so nice looking! Excited to see it in person someday.
Sick! Living your best life!
So sick!!
Thanks! It was a blast!
Sir this is incredibly amazing! can you please please post some un-edited raw footage without music? the engine sound is unbelievable
Thanks! I’ll have some non music videos soon 👍
@@HeliWrk Thank you so much!!!! I'm so thankful, The 530F is my dream helicopter and there seems to be almost zero vids on youtube showing the Garmin/ Howell setup.
Hell ya!🔥
🤘
Dopee
Hi.that model have autopilot?
Awesome video MUSIC OR NO MUSIC BROTHER :) You have a dream job, I would love to fly rotary wing for a living. Are you former military or did you get into it privately? I've never gone for it figuring former .mil guys have jobs locked down easy.
ETA: Just saw you have a video about how you became a pilot. I'll go watch that NOW LOL
I'll take some more of that please! Does MD Helicopter offer FADEC to go along with that modern panel?
Unfortunately not. It’s still the same modulated start as original 🤷🏻♂️
@@HeliWrk All power benefits aside, is the design of the RR250-C30 easier to live with compared the C20? Time from start to idle and cool down time before shutdown? Can you notice a positive difference having fewer axial compressor stages? Thanks again for posting!
@@llwellyn1 The only real negatives for the c30 (or F model) are it higher fuel burn (so less endurance, since fuel capacity is the same E - F), slightly lower component life times. I’ve heard you’re more likely to get compressor stalls with the single stage compressor vs the c20 style during very rapid power changes. I’ve never personally had it happen tho.
@@llwellyn1 Starts and shutdown times are practically the same. Once you get use to the modulated start on the C30 it doesn’t really feel different than flying an E model. You just don’t have to ever worry about looking at the T.O.T gauge after it’s started 😆
@@HeliWrk Years ago, I read a Frank Robinson interview, about why he hadn't produced a turbine ship yet. He mentioned that the powerplant options (C20) were unacceptable to him Why? I don't know. With the arrival and acceptance of the RR300 as a platform, I just surmised (later) that it was the 6-stage axial compressor section which gave him pause. Given the popularity of the Safran Arriel centrifugal design, in both the Airbus T125 and the new Bell 505X, a well as the C47's and C30's, I imagined that there was some merit there.
Your comment about compressor stall is interesting indeed. I never knew that. I always thought that the significantly larger number of blades, of the axial design, were more likely to lead to engine stall....more areas for residues, chips and general deformation which could cause disruptive flows during the gas movement/direction process.
I'm not an A&P or engineer, just a low time piston pilot with an interest in learning about the relative pro's & con's of turbine designs. I've got about 2 hours of stick time in a 500, the OH-6 original, and have to say it rocks! Thanks for the timely conversation!
Like gohst recon Wildlands with 1fst person mod 😮
🤤🤤🤤
Trust in The Egg.
we want to hear the beautiful helicopter 🚁 sounds, not music!
Music ruined it
Great video destroyed by music, when will these UA-camr's learn?
Congratulation. Thats what i call a helicopter. Robinson not.
Keep it up and they'll be a able to put what's left of you in a shoe box.
Settle down bellboy, you’re just jealous your name isn’t mdboy 😂
Alright @bellboy407. I’ll bite. What makes you qualified to judge another pilot and the capabilities in a machine?
Bellboy always flys at a minimum of 2000' AGL and never ever violates the height velocity diagram...EVER.
@@thomascarson7988 7,000 accident free hours and knew several dead guys that played around like this. You will hit a wire eventually.
@@bellboy4074 the only thing you’ve successfully shared with the class is your great at writing numbers down in a logbook, and writing cruddy comments on social media.
I’ve known quiet a pilots who’ve claimed they’ve had 7000 hours plus and can’t fly anything that a fadec can’t start and a autopilot can’t fly.
What you probably missed was the recon, the risk assessment, and the well executed plan that goes into the flying portion. They tend to not show that in a video. Kinda dry really.
Hope ya fly another 7000 hours accident free!
Harrassing Desert Bighorn Sheep is illegal.
The visual photography is Hollywood quality..but..alas.. the audio has been infected, mutilated, desecrated. No adolescent jumble of acoustical junk can ever approach the superlative sacred sound of that rhythmic rotor slap and engine whine or roar. It seems in vogue to add distracting unnecessary and unneeded music to contemporary vids. A good movie studio sound engineer would know how to overlay the audio with that unique chopper sound.
