After the recent heatwave, Xmas Day for me was perfect. Mid -20's with a breeze after days of 40 degrees was the Xmas gift I needed. Hope you enjoyed your first Xmas. I've been here almost 11 years and though it never feels like Xmas I wouldn't swap it for anything!
We moved to Perth from Aberdeen in 2003, it is great to watch somebody else going through the same journey and reliving the new experiences, thank you for sharing.
One of the coolest Christmas Days we have had in Perth for a long time.....glad to see you are both settling into Perth life.....All the Best....Cheers.
Really loving your videos! We are a family looking to move to Perth, currently at the skills assessment stage. Really lovely to see such an up to date look on Perth life! We spent last night watching your last three videos. Thanks 😊
WOW love seeing people who haven't experienced a Christmas in Australia enjoying it so much...Cottesloe Beach would've been a lot more busier if it wasn't such a cooler Christmas this year than the past couple of years...i just wanted to say that I'm a Aboriginal woman from Perth Western Australia and my people are the Noongah people of the South West region so yeah it is a pleasure seeing you guys enjoy your first Christmas in Perth...❤❤❤
You only briefly mentioned it, but the days leading up to that day cooler then Aberdeen were +40, +40, +40... so yeah, Chrissy was wonderful and cool. Traditions are great to figure out - for us with (now) adult children, it's the Christmas Eve feast with all the partners etc... that way there's no bickering of who needs to be where on the big day. We then host a Boxing Day Brunch followed by Expresso Marini's and board & card games!!! Horses for Courses!!!
It's always going to feel different here in Perth at Christmas, as the years pass you'll make your own traditions. Enjoy the cooler weather while it's here. Welcome to Perth. x
We have lived here since 2008 and it still does not feel like Christmas in the hot weather. We soon abandoned roast dinner with all the trimmings. Instead we have prawns and salmon. Ham on Boxing Day. It is all very informal. Happy New Year in your new country, making a new life here.
Merry Christmas 🎄 to you both. Glad you're enjoying your first Christmas in Aus 😊 Enjoy your firsts before you get into a routine. Will look forward to your video about New Year's eve and day 😃
Wishing you both a relaxing and happy holiday season. I think Christmas, not feeling like Christmas, is a “British” ex-pat thing. I’ve been here 20 years and I still struggle to get into the true spirit of Christmas. Originally a southern hemisphere girl myself, but after having lived in Oxford then Devon for many years, I’m naturally curious about why I feel this way. Can’t quite put my finger on it, but there you go. I guess I miss the crisper weather, the lights, the cozy fires, and the run-up festivities in Devon like Dickensian Evening where people parade around carrying candles, lanterns, and feasting on roasted chestnuts from vendors on every street corner! My heart is still very much in Devon and Cornwall, and I do have moments where I miss it enormously. It is what it is, but life here in the far south-east corner of Victoria, surrounded by the beauty of the Lakes, the Snowy River and the High Country more than makes life bearable and enjoyable. Victoria gives me the best of both worlds, being a cooler more temperate climate in winter, with sunny summers. The good thing is the climate where I live. It can be in the mid-30’s one day, then drops right back down to 19-24C in the days that follow. I love that. We’re always cooler than Melbourne which, btw is known locally as “Naarm”, a reference to our First Nations people. Today in Naarm it is 39C, while where I live it’s about 35C. Big difference! Glad you’re settling in well and enjoying the relaxed Aussie way of life. Wishing you a wonderful and very happy 2025.
Welcome to Perth couldn't of picked a better place. Christmas will be better next year when you have settled in more. Next year should be warmer and the beach will be packed ❤ Well not as bad as Bondi. But that's because we have a whole coast line 🤣🤣 And what's this Adelaide Cheese we plenty of fresh produce here! 😂
Enjoyed your video! Perth beaches are more pleasant for swimming in the mornings and will typically be packed with beach goers from about 6am to midday. Then the local afternoon wind gets up. It’s called the “Fremantle Doctor”, or just “the doctor” for short, due to the relief it brings on hot days. But it does cause the sea to be very choppy and rough in the afternoons. That’s when the kite surfers get out and about.
Just what we wanted to see!! 😍 an outdoorsy Xmas just looks fab after we’ve been stuck in allllll day here, we really can’t wait to get our butts in Perth ❤. Hope you enjoy the rest of the year! 🇦🇺
On Boxing Day we have an yacht race from Sydney Harbour to Hobart. The race takes about 3 days for the winner to cross the line but then the rest of the yachts have to finish. The start of the race is televised but I don't know if it is in Perth. The race is always on every year on Boxing Day. It's been going for a very long time.
Merry Christmas to you both. I'm an Aussie, but hubby is Canadian and he still can't get used to a hot Christmas (but he doesn't miss the snow so he doesn't complain). We moved to Perth just a few years ago and love it here. Thank you for your vlogs, they are delightful.
You're lucky it was only 24°C Christmas Day, very mild and pleasant, a few years ago it was 44°C. And you have to admit, after last week's temperatures of 41°C, you have to prefer 24. It's cool you've picked up the 1980s slip slop slap campaign. Merry Christmas guys.
All my expat English friends love Rockingham. It's not a wave beach, very nice and calm waters. Also, a big expat community down that way.@sarahbolsontravel
Excellent. It looks like boxing day is shaping up to be perfect weather (we live not far from Nth Beach & Hillarys Marina). Boxing day in Perth is crazy time for bargain hunters as they mob the shops. Enjoy
My first Christmas in Australia felt the same (I'm from the UK ). I love watching you making the most of your new home and enjoying the great outdoors. Also, crisps over here are called potato chips (:
Merry Christmas, at least you got to do a barbie on Christmas Day...that was a gutsy move with the brussell sprout salad haha I don't know many people that like those lol. I'm sure it tasted fine with some dressing mixed with other veggies etc.
Merry Christmas to you both, and I wish you a Happy New Year. I shall be in Queensland for the new year, to spread my wife's ashes on her birthday where she grew up.
It's so funny watching Perth through a visitors eyes, you are taking in the best of it for sure. Next you have to try out Piggy's in North Freo, it's a Mexican restaurant/bar. Prime beach weather is when the Easterly breeze is blowing, then its flat as, watch out for the South West wind, the Freo Doctor. Also if you swim outside the shark net, if the rescue helicopter hovers over the top, get out of the water :-) Merry Christmas

What's Christmas? What you make of it! Not a time to dwell on what you don't have, but to give thanks for everything and everyone you do.

The kite surfers are fascinating to watch! Not sure it’s my sport though haha
Happy Christmas - thanks for allowing us to follow your journey. Australia is certainly a stunner. Sarah, NZ

Hot Christmases do take a while to get used to. But it is better than freezing your butt off. Merry Christmas.

Hahah coolest christmas i can remember 😂 i coukdnt be happier…. Love from scarborough beach 😊 merry chrissy
Merry Christmas to you too!
When it's hot, it's the end of the world and when it's cold no one says anything . Doesn't suit the global warming narrative
Merry Christmas to you and your family and friends may all your endeavors in the future come true
Merry Christmas to you both, and I wish you a Happy New Year. I shall be in Queensland for the new year, to spread my wife's ashes on her birthday where she grew up.
I'm so sorry for your loss.
Merry Christmas to you too. Thank you for sharing, so sorry for your loss.

crisps ?
We don't have roast turkey we have ham instead
We’ll have to put that on the list for next year!
@@sarahbolsontravel Yes its a tradition in Australia
Never felt like xmas here in oz just not like a northern hemisphere xmas.
I am so sick of it doesn’t feel like Christmas . Christmas is about the birth of Jesus and not about cold weather with snow !!!
