Life so far has taken me from England to Canada to Scotland and now… onto Australia. Capturing moments on video to watch back brings me so much joy and I hope it will be the same for friends, family and anyone else who might stumble across a video.
MOVING TO AUSTRALIA | PART 1 | The process, visas, house sale and booking flights…
We documented our move from Scotland to Perth, Australia over the best part of a year. It all started with a job offer… there were highs and lows and a few hiccups along the way (thanks knees) but we finally ended up booking our flights. We can’t wait to show you the actual move!

Congratulations and welcome to Australia 🎉
There is a huge housing crisis here at the moment , there is hardly any rentals and what there is are expensive and buying one is just as bad, but if you can get passed that it’s a brilliant country to raise a family. Good luck to you both
Haven't seen anyone who's failed in getting accommodation. 🙄
@ I did not say they would not get anything I said it’s not as easy to get something. House prices have doubled in the last 4 years. I think that’s worth noting it’s not as cheap here as it used to be.
@@keepingitreal618 Tell that to the people living in their car!
Welcome to Perth! Enjoy it! Best city on God’s green earth!
moving to Australia while were in a housing crisis is wild, stay home.
Just because you have credit card debt and live beyond your means, some people are much better at managing their finances....fact.
You guys from scottland. Wow. Scottland dosent even come close to Australia Australia is heaven compare. To scottland. You will love the blue sky amazing beaches with white sands it’s very hot Australians love hot weather going to the beaches going to beach early. In the. Morning. To watch the sunrise. Like I said before it’s heaven plus Australia very clean
If you guys from. The uk Australia will change you life I am from Australia. A. Lot. Off people from the uk. Swedan Germany. Scottland moved here they live the life style of amazing. Beaches amazing weather. And. Much much. More. So welcome to Australia. Mate.
Is. This. Just a long holiday or what. Please. Reply.
Just bear in mind from a 60 year old that was born here, Australia is a toilet now, a country where indigenous peoples vilify and constantly spit on Europeans. Everything is registered, banned and spoiled. It was a penal settlement and remains one. I myself am moving back to Ireland for om where my ancestors originated as I belong there, not here. In time you will understand and feel the same believe me. I know this country, you do not!
Your life sounds miserable. Maybe change your attitude 🙄
Have you gone yet?
Congratulations, welcome to Perth.
Welcome to WA you’ll love it here.
You're 4 years too late ... mining boom has peaked which caused rents and property prices to rise by 80% over this time. To make it in Australia you need to get in before the boom otherwise you are just left behind.
Are you assigned in Midlands?
Welcome to Perth - the best city in Australia
Perth, nice choice
Watching 27/11. I guess that you should be here by now. Welcome, the good stuff starts now.
Welcome to Perth! I immigrated 22 years ago after growing up in Cape Town and living in London for the better part of 10 years. Took me almost 4 years but I don’t regret a moment 🤸♂️
Welcome to Perth! Where ?
WHY are you coming to Australia??? i may sound strange but I would advise against it - the Lucky country is not lucky anymore - I have lived here 30years and it was great but if I were starting now - I would not move here its to expensive . 🤣
In the vlog her husband joined the police force.. they will have plenty of money lol
@Brittyy97 only if he's a bent copper
I hope they've found accommodation. The now most expensive city to rent in Oz. Housing a big issue here. I hope for the best for them and others here in Perth who are struggling.
Best thing ever. Just because you are not successful 🙄.
@keepingitreal618 wtf?
Well done congratulations! Can I say make sure you do your family Christmas with your loved ones before you leave. Give them their gifts and their next birthday gifts wrapped & can’t open until the actual day on them. It’ll save you a lot of money. You can still send a gift as we but at least you’ll know they’ve got your gifts 🎁 on the actual day.
Congratulations, very excited for you both and i know Australia will welcome you with opens arms and hearts .
You could have just arrived without documents on the shore and you would have been given housing ,income and shopping cards
They wouldn’t have even been allowed on the plane!
your country must not be great if you are wanting to move to Australia, it sucks here, expensive food, over priced real estate, Western Australia has is run by a bunch of fascists labor government clowns. I wish you well but, Australia is awful and I am so glad I left it
Lol Have you seen the UK lately ? As far as expensive here , its no worse then Europe PLUS West Australian housing is far less expensive than the majority of Australia is.
Haters are gunna hate. I suspect misery accompanies this person everywhere.
Australia is very glad you've left.
@@Mark-F-Hoppermy thoughts exactly
i hope youre bringing a ton of cash its expensive out here 😂
Probably managed their funds a lot better than you have 🙄
@ rightio
Best of luck to you both. I actually did it the other way around. Moved from Oz to Europe 25yrs ago. If I was ever confronted with homesickness, I always thought I am only 24hrs from family and friends. Knowing that took the stress off. Best of luck and give yourselves sometime. P.S. Moving back to Oz in a few years. Europe’s great, but miss the nature, family and friends.
As far as I know .. we have reciprocal Universal Healthcare rights with each other.
Congrats just remember sunblock Perth is hot and getting hotter. I live in Adelaide and enjoy good friend of mine moved from London to WA Police force
You'll fit in with rest of the sand gropers. As they sound like poms.
Sandgropers is a new one for me 😂 every day’s a school day…
@sarahbolsontravel QLD= Banana benders, SA = Crow eaters, NSW = Cornstalks or Cockroaches, Victoria ,= Mexicans, Tasmania = No one cares😜😁. ACT = All C*nts Together in reference to the politicians.😁 . Get used to us swearing, we don't have a Political Correctness button.. Welcome to our country from a 6 gen Aussie with Bangarang indigenous mix.
@sarahbolsontravel Damn it I got schooled by a pome as I spelt groper with 2 Ps.😜👍
29/11/24 today and it is 42 deg on my back veranda in South Perth. It is a heat that will melt the paint off your car. Don't worry, it only lasts for about 5 months. Welcome to the most Isolated capital city in the World.
Well, It's been a while since you left the UK and hopefully you survived your trip and hopefully there's a part 2!! If so, welcome to Australia! Wishing you guys all the very best! 😎🐨🦘🦜🌴
Thank you, we vlogged the actual move and looking forward to sharing it as well!
Welcome to Australia. My parents came to Australia in 1962 with 2 kids and 1 on the way from Scotland. No internet, snail mail, expensive phone calls overseas etc. It always amazes me how often the new immigrants complain of the travel to Australia, we took 6 weeks by ship. Complain about being away from family when today technology allows face to face connection which is also basically free, unlike us who depended on mail because the cost of phone calls home was way way way out of budget.
That certainly puts things into perspective, FaceTime is a game changer 😊
Well done congradulations. Welcome to Australia.
Thank you!😊
Welcome to Australia!
Thank you! 😊
Great decision you guys will love it good luck
Thank you!! 😊
It’s a trip to Australia. So what? Talk about a mountain out of a molehill. 😊
Your name says it all common as muck 🙄
Country or city constable? Country would be cheaper for a house.
G'day guys👍👋 & by now....Welcome to Sandgroper territory here in Australia (yes, that's your new HOME!lol). With those big smiles you'll have no problems making friends here 😊🙃 Hope you have either/or all.. air-conditioned house, lots of fans & spray bottles,a pool, or a garden hose to stand under! 🤣😁 The weather has been mild so far this spring(only 32c today), but summer officially starts in 2 days so get ready for some warmer weather👍🙂 I lived in the UK in the South East for 3yrs in the early 90s as a middle 20s bloke & loved my time there..but had to return eventually for some vitamin D!🌞 Lol. If you have any questions about WA, feel free to shout out 👍👍 Also if you want to suss some of our WA fauna & flora out to acquaint yourselves a bit, jump to my site & browse. the flora, birds, insects, lizards, spiders etc etc. The Sth West of WA is a global biodiversity hotspot, with a high concentration of endemic plant and animal species 👍 *Our State floral emblem is Anigozanthos manglesii...the Red & Green Kangaroo Paw & the fauna emblem is the Numbat... The state flag is the Black Swan on 'an Aussie flag without the stars' 😁 State colours are Black & Gold. Enough rambling....WELCOME guys! 👍 ✌️
Thank you, we’ll be down to the south west before long so we’ll definitely check it out!
@sarahbolsontravel oh, I thought you were moving to Perth. Where up north are you?

@@WestAussieBackyardNature oh have you not been well?
My Aussie sons a Perth cop. I recall he said there are a lot of Brits in the force downunder. Good luck. Your welcome but be prepared for the hot summer weather.
Wow they probably don't know that Perth is hot. 🙄
Hi to you both, we just came across your vlog, obviously you are now in Australia. We hope you have settled in some what and we look forward to following your journey. Welcome to Australia, oh and that water continally comes from your body - is called perspiration 😅😅😂😂🤣🤣, as we say here, you'll be right mate 😊Lyn & Bobby
Thank you, love the can-do attitude around here!
Five important things to remember about summer in Australia - sunscreen, hats, sunscreen, water and sunscreen.
And cover shoulders to prevent sunburn
You forgot the BEER.
@ thats a given.
Haha great suggestion - I’m always carrying sunscreen, I’m terrified of getting caught short!
Bushfires too WA is getting hit as we speak
Welcome to Australia. You are both such lovely people, you will fit right in. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your journey and experiences.
Thanks so much! 😊
We left Scotland in 1974 so any advice I can give you will be a bit dated. Where ever you end up in WA it's going to be hot. If you're up north it's always hot, If you're down south its hot some of the year and coolish the rest. Storms are great and cyclones are great fun but you'll find all that out soon enough. Check up on Medicare as I'm not sure if you get it straight away so take out medical insurance just in case Sarah's knees decide to have hissy fit when you get here.
Great tips thanks, I’m sure we’ll get to explore a bit more of the state before long 😊
I'm pretty sure he'll have good medical coverage if he's in the WA Police Force!!
Your partner just wanted to come over and the cops here get to have guns. 😂 Congrats and you'll love it and it'll be the best decision you'll ever make. Welcome 😎
From watching this you'd already be here in Australia. Welcome to Perth, the weather is just starting to warm up, you're going to love it here. There's also a pretty big community of expats, so you're not going to be alone. I can't wait for your follow up video, by the way.
Thank you for the welcome! The weather so far has been perfect, looking forward to seeing what summer brings 😊
@@sarahbolsontravel You will welcome the Doctor in the afternoons
Your going to love little England with sunshine on the other side of the planet, don't forget to slip slop slap, it is after all the worlds skin cancer capital, with all those millions of anglo's so far from home in a black mans country.
We’ve kept ourselves fully slipped slapped and slopped so far! The strength of the sun is something else…
They didn’t help with your visa application?
They reimburse you for the main applicant but we had to get it all done ourselves. We were just grateful for the visa nomination!
A thoughtful gesture giving your unwanted things to Ukrainian refugees, you are most Welcome here in Australia....👍
Was great to be able to give things away and made our lives easier which was a bonus 😊 thank you!
Good luck guys! Wishing you all the best.❤
Thank you so much!!😊
All the best for your move ..im a 10 th generation Aussie and welcome you both downunder ..cheers to you 🎉
Thank you very much! 😊
If you are leaving scotland to get away from the scots all I can say is you FAILED BIGTIME! 😂 Welcome to Perth! Hope you find a house quickly! 😅
We’ve yet to bump into any scots but by the sounds of things it won’t take long 😂
I'm Australian and so happy for you both. Obviously have subscribed to you. CONGRATULATIONS!!!❤❤
Thank you! 😊
UA-cam algorithm led me to your journey, and I think I'm smiling just as wide for the two of you! I'm about an hour South of Perth and have many mates who were in WAPOL but have now retired. It's not an easy job, but I wish you both all the very best wishes on your journey and can guarantee that you will absolutely LOVE Western Australia 🎉 Unfortunately you will be arriving here at the start of summer, so be prepared for a bit of a shock 😁 One last thing........I hope I never have to come across Jamie, if ya get my drift 😂
Thank you, hope you manage to stay out of trouble 😂
