    Love the bucket idea

    Good to see it after one year, seeing as I’m considering buying an XL. I don’t want the smaller burner either.
    My friend has one and loves it, but it’s the first I’ve heard of them today, when he was speaking about his.
    Cheers!

      Absolutely. I know that the cost is right at the threshold of "should I or shouldnt I". I dont know anyone who has been upset about the purchase. I use mine all the time. Being that its tabletop safe, It practically lives on my deck.
      For wood prep, I use my chainsaw and cut logs into short 6" lengths. Then split with a hatchet.

    My main complaint about the v1.0 of Solo Stoves, which is the same complaint with the Mesa and Mesa XL, is the welded in bottom grate/ash pan. Now, some might not care about having to turn it upside down and shaking all the stuff out, but it's actually the ability to remove and replace the bottom grate that is really important. I have the Yukon, the Campfire, and the Mesa so I know a bit about them and using them long term. I was interested in upgrading to the Mexa XL for the larger capacity and still being able to use it on a tabletop.... but then I realized that there are better constructed stainless steel clones on Amazon for only $40 that also have the removable bottom grate.

    I’m on the fence with a Mesa XL and a Ranger. Not sure which one I should go with. My first impression is the Mesa XL might be a little small, but also that the Ranger might be a little big for what I’m looking for.
    Have you ever tried the Ranger model?

    • @LuckyLoonOutdoors
      @LuckyLoonOutdoors  6 місяців тому +2

      I have not tried the ranger. The mesa XL and Ranger are meant for 2 different roles. the Mesa is really meant to be on a tabletop and used more for ambiance. The ranger is meant for ground level and as a legit smallest size regular use firepit.
      You will have to be honest with yourself. would you prefer an awesome tabletop firepit or a small regular style firepit.
      If you can answer that, I think you should be good to go.

      @@LuckyLoonOutdoorspulled the trigger on a Mesa XL. I’ll try it out for a couple months and see how it goes. From your video here, it looks like the Mesa XL might be what I’m looking for. Thanks for the review and getting back to me 🤙🏼

    Thanks for review. Would it keep 4 people sitting around it warm? I have the larger one, and its a bit much for short usage. This seems like it may be a bit better for short usage but worried it doesn't put out much heat.

    • @LuckyLoonOutdoors
      @LuckyLoonOutdoors  6 місяців тому +3

      It does not put out a huge amount of heat. They do make a heat deflector that works decent. This stove isnt really ment to put out heat. It is ment more as a tabletop ambiance fire pit that can also be used to cook small snacks on. I would not purchase this with warmth as a goal.

      @@LuckyLoonOutdoors Thank you! Looking for a small fire pit to have in backyard to heat the Mrs and I up at the end of day that doesn't need to burn for 2-3 hours. Propane ones are a bit too big and bulky. Hoping a small table top will work.
      Also have a tempered glass table so not sure how much that sucker can stand.
      thanks again for quick reply!

    Great review! Wondering what surfaces it's safe to use on? Looks like you're using on a plastic folding table?

      Its a tabletop firepit. As long as its on the stand you can use it anywhere. You can even pick it up and move it. As long as you are grabbing the bottom.

    You get any heat from that?

      @LuckyLoonOutdoors  Місяць тому

      a little, you can also get the heat deflector. Its more of an ambiance and smore machine.

    hi there, How do you clean the mesa xl if the bottom is not removable??

    • @LuckyLoonOutdoors
      @LuckyLoonOutdoors  5 місяців тому

      As stated in the video, turn it upside down and tap it. the wood burns so hot you are left with really fine ash that comes out without an issue. the only time you would have a problem would be if it was left in the rain. At that point, you would have to use a hose and clean it out.

      no idea. With the abundance of other wood options in the U.S. I am going to guess no.
