      High level day 1, start in Babbit, take the Prospectors trail to Ely, Echo trail from Ely to Voyagaire houseboats. Then, take the trail that starts at Voyagaire to chief wooden frog campground. If you look at the trail maps and ATV maps for the area, you can put together a really awesome route. Bikes are allowed on the ATV/SXS trails. Hands down the best ADV riding I have done in MN.

      They have held up much better than I thought they would. For most people, they will last many years. For me, I have worn it down a good bit in a few spots. It performs about the same as a cheaper nonstick pan you have in your kitchen. Worth the cost IMO.

    I honestly don't understand how the rain fly works if it is in contact with the rest of the tent. When a normal rain fly lies against a tent, the water seeps in - that's why you've got the air gap between the inner part and the fly. So, how does it work if you're in an actual rain storm, and the fly is tucked in nice and cozy like you show?

    • @LuckyLoonOutdoors
      @LuckyLoonOutdoors 13 днів тому

      The rain fly is not in contact with the tent, especially when you are in it. there is a gap. condensation runs down the inside and drips to the ground. My second video shows this a little better.

    • @LuckyLoonOutdoors
      @LuckyLoonOutdoors 16 днів тому

      Dirt and water can pile up there, and when you open the cap, it can get in with the stock cap. The biggest thing for me is not having to use the key to open it, and the top is 100% out of the way when filling. I was not sure how much I would appreciate this mod, but I am actually happy about it EVERY time I fill up or I get dirty offroad.

    ▪️ Does the default outsole leave any damage on wooden floors? I'm guessing they wont, but am a little paranoid to wear them into customers' homes... Plus, which ice cleat outsole do you recommend? 🟥

    • @LuckyLoonOutdoors
      @LuckyLoonOutdoors 25 днів тому

      Good question! I have not worn them on real hardwood, but on everything else, I have had no streaks or issues. as long as you are not wearing the carbide ice cleats. I use the snow cleats when snowmobiling/messing around outside I use the trailtrack for everything Not Winter I use the ice track for ice fishing/icy conditions. I suggest 2 soles at a minimum. the ice track and the trailtrack.

    • @2NDFLB-CLERK

      @@LuckyLoonOutdoors ▪️ I'm thinking it might be less work switching them - and cost - to just buy separate cleats... Just bc I'll be wearing these to work & don't want to take extra time frequently switching between outsoles... Would you say the default outsoles hold up on the normal snowy grounds? & Do you have a specific brand of attachable cleats you'd recommend? Preferably ones that I can throw on & off pretty quickly... 🟥

    • @LuckyLoonOutdoors
      @LuckyLoonOutdoors 25 днів тому

      @2NDFLB-CLERK I think the cleats that come with are just fine. I would get the ice cleats instead of some other ice cleat. They are easy to swap out, and being able to switch out the cleats is the main point of the boot. When I go ice fishing, my korkers ice cleats are with my gear, I just do a quick swap out, then head onto the ice. I have found that the traction with the regular outsoles are pretty good and rarely have to swap for ice cleats regardless.

      @@LuckyLoonOutdoors thanks for the reply. It’s too heavy for me. That’s a gallon of water. A gallon of water is 8lbs. The price isn’t that bad I would pay that but I can’t do the weight. It’s too much for long hikes. My base weight doesn’t need to go above 31lbs. I’m sitting there now with the set up I got. Take out my chair and I might could drop my weight a pound or two but even then it doesn’t make up the difference. My hammock now weighs 3 pounds. 2 and some change but I say 3. I could squeeze 5 lbs and even thats pushing it and taking a chair away. I’ll just keep looking. Maybe one day I will find one like I want!

    • @LuckyLoonOutdoors
      @LuckyLoonOutdoors 25 днів тому

      @josephspruill1212 This one is def not the setup for cutting weight. that weight includes a rainfly, insulated pad, hammock, and straps. If you go to the lightest weight version its 7lbs .5oz. I am old enough now where I just carry the extra weight for the comfort. Even then my canoe does most of the work. Take a look at the kammock mantis ultralight. I purchased that setup for my brother. Its more tedious to get setup right but it cuts a lot of weight. the weight gap starts to close when things get colder. but otherwise its a little over 2lbs.

      @@LuckyLoonOutdoors yeah you have canoe to get around in etc, I’m walking everywhere I go. I hiked from GA to Maine on the AT trail. I’ve hike the Colorado trail. The smallest was the Colorado trail. And it’s 486 miles. That three months of walking my friend, Day in day out too. So how you get around makes a big difference. When I was in the military we carried 45-50 lbs yet we didn’t ruck that far. We also got picked up along the route a lotto by heli or truck. Yet there is no river where I go. It’s nothing out a trail in the woods that leads you thousands of miles away. I hike the cdt. Next spring I’m hiking the pct and you can call me a triple crowner for hiking all three mayors in the USA. I’ve hike the one in Spain. I’ve hike all over Europe. I even hike the Himalayans before.i would like to hike all majors across the world. I don’t have to work anymore so I can take all the time I need too. Again thanks for getting back with me. I hate it wasn’t a fit for my style. I will find one somewhere. I see one before yet they wanted an arm and a leg for it. It was over $600 after taxes. I’m good they love it more than I do thats for sure. I get military discount yet it’s not enough to fix that price…..

      @LuckyLoonOutdoors 25 днів тому

      Dang thats expensive. I never did a lot of hiking camping over 30 miles or so. Ive always done canoe camping or Army sponsored "camping". So, hearing from someone who has some time and distance in that type of hiking is great. Completing those trails is a big accomplishment! I am curious about the colorado trail. I have only seen small pieces of it, when climing to a couple peaks, and a couple short out and backs while visiting.

    • @LuckyLoonOutdoors
      @LuckyLoonOutdoors Місяць тому

      So I love it. I was literally in the dealership to purchase the 890 adventure R. I was watching the $$ rise. Needs a more comfy seat, needs heated grips, needs the tech pack, needs a better windshield, needs a bash plate, etc. The Norden 901 expedition is the same chassis as the adventure R. AND it has the same suspension! The suspension setup was my primary goal. I had no idea it was the same until i saw it. The Norden already has the tech pack, better seat, heated grips/seat, bash plate, better windshield, better lights, more outlets, pre-rigged for a gps, on the fly headlight adjuster and more. It was definitely a better option and cheaper if you are planning to do those upgrades. I took the Norden on a 3 day 3 night motocamping trip (video uploaded) put approx 400 miles on of atv/forest road/gravel road, dual/singletrack, water crossings, regular road. Didnt drop it once. Literally the most fun I have ever had on a motorcycle. The offroad DNA of the 890 adventure R that is its core, makes a HUGE offroad difference. It comes down to your goal. If you are planning to use it almost exclusively offroad, the 890 has a more friendly setup for that. But if you are looking for a machine that can conquer offroad, but is more comfortable, especially at speed. The Norden is where its at. They took the 890, cut out the upgrade BS, and made it more comfortable.

      Taxes did not pay for any of the event. Our Fire department does not have much funding, and our community recognizes this and supports the event. This is why the fire relief hosts the pancake breakfast every year. Funds help the fire department do things such as get new equipment or repair it. Things they have a difficult time getting funding for.

    My main complaint about the v1.0 of Solo Stoves, which is the same complaint with the Mesa and Mesa XL, is the welded in bottom grate/ash pan. Now, some might not care about having to turn it upside down and shaking all the stuff out, but it's actually the ability to remove and replace the bottom grate that is really important. I have the Yukon, the Campfire, and the Mesa so I know a bit about them and using them long term. I was interested in upgrading to the Mexa XL for the larger capacity and still being able to use it on a tabletop.... but then I realized that there are better constructed stainless steel clones on Amazon for only $40 that also have the removable bottom grate.
