Leather Lever Loop Wrap (Winchester/Rossi)

- Put a leather wrap on the Winchester 92 and the Ross 92 lever loops. Very easy and cheap to to, so if you don't care for the look you aren't out any real money. Start with about 30 inches or so of leather and just wrap it around the loop staying away from the trigger well. I put a black braided wrap on the Rossi stainless to match the leather butt wrap and a plain brown shoelace style on the Winchester.
Thanks for the video, I have tried the paracord wrap and ended up messing it up 1/2.
This was easy
Nice work!
Thanks to your video, I picked up some lacing and did this to my 18" Rossi M92 in .44. Turned out great and is more comfortable with a generous treatment of mink oil. Thanks for making it easy to follow!
+smccrory Glad you found it useful. Thanks for the tip on the mink oil, will be getting some.
Nice work - have you tried the saddle ring (found on trapper versions of 1892 style lever guns). Can't find any "how-to" videos for that ring.
Don't need that it doesn't hurt racking rounds
One question, have you ever had any issues with rust with the blued guns? Do you take yours off every so often?
Haven't had an issue with rust, but haven't had it out in the rain. It i did I would take it off and let it dry.
The braided looks great.
Thanks Vinny, still on there.
Gun vise frees up hands
I have a gun shop down the road that sells wraps for 12 dollars.i like them alot.i think they order them in bulk from brass stacker but I'm not sure
It is really soft leather, nothing to worry about as far as cuts or scrapes on the fingers. It sold as leather to make bracelets, so it is soft. For just a few bucks it is worth trying out, if you end up not liking it you didn't break the bank.
I love this, will try the braided look I think on my 45 year old Marlin .30-30.
Best thing is if you don't end up liking how it turns out, you lost a bit of time and almost no money.
thanks so much, this is exactly the vision I had for my mare's leg after seeing the ugly alternatives. its coming in next week, already bought the "saddle strapping" leather. can't wait to do mine!
I really think that this needs knots in it instead of just circular wrapping.
I want to do this with 550 cord.
Gonna try this with a faux leather cord since I heard real leather can lead to rust on your lever after a while.
Why have wrap on the lever what is the point
Here's a question; "If you are repeatedly racking this rifle, what would you do to make it more comfortable?"
Thank you very much for tutorial. Just picked up the Rossi M92 improved the feel 10 fold!
I know this is a common "accessory" added to lever guns. Just be aware that leather in direct contact with steel will, over time, lead to a good deal of corrosion. Some leathers are worse than others, depending on tanning method, but they'll all do it to some degree.
Thanks for the info.
Nice job. I think I'm gonna pick up one of those stainless Rossis in .357/.38. Beautiful rifle!
I have one, they are nice, but I'm not going to wrap the lever, it's painless as it is.
I was thinking about getting one of these rifles in 357 mag. Is this a pretty solid reliable gun?
+Trevor S The Rossi is very solid, needs some breaking in to be have a smooth action. You can do that with a little lubricant and racking the action for about 30 minutes or so. Shoots good, hits about everything you aim at.
Thanks for the reply, I want to buy the blued one with the 20" barrel. Has that classic look.
+Trevor S Nice choice, have the option for .38's or .357. Right now Gallery of Guns has them for about $550. A good price, great service and the best lifetime warranty you can get. Good luck with it.
Thank you, you can see the Rossi in action in the "Time Travel App for the Droid or (The Rossi 92 in 44-40)" video.
I used an ugly old piece of rawhide for now.. Ordered the same braid as you have, doing my Marlin 336. Thanks for the video, I couldn't get it right on my own, this helped!
That wrap will just slip around on the lever.
Looks easy to do! Going to the hobby lobby to pick up some leather.
Well heck, I can do this. I'll go to my local Hobby Lobby and get me some leather lacing and do my Lever Guns. Thanks for showing us how easy this is to do.
+Vigilante Driver Glad you saw it is a DYI project. Hobby Lobby is a good place for the leather. A plus us the 40% off coupons.
Thanks. Just did mine M94 up with some suede lace sitting around.
I hear you can create moisture and trap sweat and could end up with rust... ?
What is the purpose for doing this? Does it save the hands or is it some aid for working the lever or is for esthetics?
More for looks, but it will help if you shoot a lot.
Very useful - Thanks a lot! Really improved my Rossi 92 :-)
Glad it helped!
thanks for the video.
yes mink oil will really help the feel and on the lighter brown leather darken it nicely.
giver it a more a more look.
looks good on my Henry's or imo any levergun.
Glad you tried it, cheap, easy to do, and in my opinion makes it look better.
I meant to say a more rustic look.
Wear and tear will do that anyway I suppose.

I found with the help of my much better half using leather lace and instead of wrapping, weaving.
Looks great on my Henry Big boy.
I appreciate your video.
Thanks ... Nice project
Nice.
whats the barrel length on the newer looking gun rossi
20" octagon barrel. Check here for a range review of it. ua-cam.com/video/isdh7ZxOzUw/v-deo.html
Really cool, thanks!
Thanks for the laugh.
Glad I lightened up your day.
How abrasive is it on bare hands? That braided looks painful :)
What's the point of the 12 gauge shells?
He was just using them to prop the rifles up for a better camera angle.
Honestly, I don't think either result is very aesthetically pleasing.
I don't have a problem with that at all, everyone has their own opinions..The good think you don't like it, take it off. You lost just a few bucks and a little time.
You shouldn't have a problem with it. Like you said just my opinion.
