That gun will live longer than the AR15 !
Clint Eastwood I've got one Clint...& 44magnum revolver too. I trust you approve. Haha
2020. Paid 630 bucks for it.
Winchesters go for 1200+ nowadays
Hi from Russia. I use this rifle .38/.357 for deer hunting 200yrds....
What ammunition do you use
20" barrel is actually the middle size Rossi makes. They make a 16" version.
I have a 16" in 44 mag. It's sweet, and makes an awesome brush gun/truck gun.
FYI...The 16-inch model holds eight rounds of 357 Magnum and 9 rounds of 38 Special.
Yeah the 20 inch also holds 10+1 of 357 and 11+1 of 38, guy claims to have had the rifle for 10 months but clearly never shot it.
I think he meant caliber wise, not barrel length.
I love the 20"-- mine was- large loop modified-- flipped it every day both hands- and just loved it!! Want another one..
I wish these were still $350-$400. I'd buy 2!
600-700 bucks now it seems
@@gatorunleashed275 $575 before taxes 44 mag in stainless Houston. Yeah could of shopped around saved maybe $50.
@@martingarza3383 I found used unfired for $375 out the door. .357/38 blue 20 inch barrel. I love it, ammo sensitive though.
Paid 1k in 2021 in calif. Was new old stock never fired. But ya. 1k
I just paid 680 for one chambered in 44 magnum
I have one in 454 Casull and wouldn't trade it for a Winchester or a Henry. I load 230gr handcast slugs over a stiff 45 Colt charge of Unique for lots of shootin' fun for a not a lot of money. Did I mention it drops them slugs into a 2" circle at 50 yards at will and does just as well with full power 454's and beer cans at 100 ? Sure does and after a couple thousand rounds that action is as slick as ice in February. I paid just over $500 in 2010 for it and it was well worth it. Now I'm looking for one in 357 for the grandkids on weekends, last May they went through 500 rounds of 454 plinking loads on a long weekend and cleaned me out, luckily I can load lite 125gr 357 for 4c a round.
Yeah I remember watching Rifleman reruns on saturday afternoons when I was a kid
His was a 44-40. The studio had him put 45-70 cartridges in his cartridge belt for dramatic effect.
I had one- in .45 colt, and with the large loop AND set screw that worked--- flipped it with either hand, rapid fire- etc.- LOVED IT-- I trick shoot a lot- or use to til my damn cataracts stopped me.. want another one- but Rossi doesn't make it any more.. not like what I want..
.45 Colt Bay-bee
=)
Love mine
Slight correction. The Rossi 92 does NOT come in 30-30. Only in pistol calibers. Rossi does make a 30-30 lever action, but it is an entirely different model, more a clone of the Marlin 336 than a Winchester. That aside, a good review.
350-400?
Never seen one that cheap. I paid 450 for mine and that was a good deal, blue version in 45 colt
Mine in .45 LC was $400 also. It is a terrific gun.
I have one of the 100 made in .480 Ruger. A very cool thumper. I picked it up used for $350. I couldn’t resist. They were also made in .454 Casull.
They are hard to find, thats why I paid more for mine
I paid $900!
I prefer brazilian Rossi than chinese Norinvid. 🤣🤣🤣
I need to leave California, I paid $550 for mine and that was the cheapest I could find it. Non Stainless but it did have the big loop.
I left in 2002 :)
I never went.
Never going either!
Waiting for the big one to hit. 😉
Nice. A lot lighter than the Henry in 357
LOL, a M92 in 45-70 not going to happen!
$500 now on Gunbroker + taxes/shipping/FFL transfer fee you're looking at $600 when done. Much easier to go to Gander and pay about the same out the door. My 20" stainless R92 holds 11 rounds of .357 in the tube + 1 chambered for 12 shots. I've de-burred it and smoothed the action. It feeds everything. Really like this rifle.
Budsgunshop. Shipping included in price. No tax charged. Pick an FFL with a $25 fee and you're at $525-550 total. Gander near me charges $599 for the 16" round barrel chambered in .357/38 spc with blued barrel and receiver, $649 for SS. They do charge sales tax on these so now were talking $650-700 out the door depending on the finish. I've found, for me anyways, that Budsgunshop is an exceptional place to buy guns. Saves me a lot of money in the end. I highly recommend checking them out. Glad you like your rifle. I just bought one and am waiting for it to arrive. I can't wait.
Since the making of this video these Rossi's have gone up in price to a little over $500 for the stainless model, and a little under that for the blued versions. Still a good value considering no American gun maker produces these pistol chambered lever guns anymore. I've got the 16" stainless model in .357 MAG, and they are very well made, no problems at all with reliability and very fun to shoot!!
Pretty sure Marlin and Henry both still make lever guns in pistol calibers.
They don't make and never made a 30- 30 or 45- 70 in a 1892 model Winchester or Rossi. Rossi has the 92 in 357/38 special, 44mag, 45 colt, 454 /45colt. Rossi does have a 45-70 called the Rio Grande but it's not the 1892 platform it looks more like the marlin.
I bought the r92 tripple black in 38/357, it cycles smooth, very nice utility tool 🔥..... Very convenient in thick brush. Shelf price here in Canada was $1299 + tax. Very pricy but worth it, I also added a red dot. Accuracy is good 👍..... Ammo was getting expensive so I bought the lee handloader. .......thanks for the video!
Nice rifle! Those 38/357 lever actions have been on my wish list for a long while but can't seem to manage afford one just yet. Thanks for sharing
Lol ..... sorry bother
They are $850 now and almost impossible to find. And in stainless expect to pay the full $850. I just paid $856 for a stainless carbine in .357. Now looking for a .44 mag and a .45 colt in a lever action. M94 winchester, 336 marlin or another.357 in a winchester 73.
I bought one of the Rossi Puma model 1892 level rifles in .357 years ago. I carried it in my ranch truck. It had a name, "the pet" and harvested every thing I ever aimed it at. I wore that rifle out and never had a single complaint about it. The Puma models of those days had a saddle ring on them. I fired thousands of rounds through that rifle. I loaded every round I could think I might like and over time I settled on a 140 grain jacketed bullets for it. I've killed many deer and three elk with my pet. Now I have a M77/357 Ruger.
Yeah I remember watching Rifleman reruns on saturday afternoons when I was a kid
... reruns... I watched them when they first came out, child... The boy was born in 46 and I in 51. I think I got my first levi jacket because of him wearing one.
dude... they also make a 44 magnum....and that rifle you have there (20 inch barrel?) holds much more than 8 rounds!.... the 16 inch barrel holds 8 rounds and that ain't no 16 inch barrel you got there!!.... shit... takes a guy from the caribbean to set you right!! lol
Ive got the 16" 357. The mag spring is way to long on it.
I trimmed mine down to about 4" past the end. There is still plenty of tension and it holds 10 38sp in the tube for a total of 11 rds now.
I also had to do a little smoothing in and around the loading gate .
I wish they were $350- 400 now ;)
"They do also have them in 30/30 and 45/70 "
NO THEY DONT.😣😩
Lost me instantly witn that stupid comment. 👎
June, 2022 I purchased one for $665. ($718 with tax) and that was the cheapest I could find.
I have the .44 mag in 20" barrel. If you are going to shoot shots between 50-100 yards you want a longer barrel.
Rossi sales the male's leg style pistol, saw one at my gun dealer. Just didn't have the money for it. Real tempted to do some dealing with a couple my guns to get it.
I'm pretty sure the 92 dose not come in 30/30 or 45/70 they would be way to long for the action
I was going to set you straight on that $700.00 remark, then I noticed that this video is 8 years old...sooooo never mind...
I have the 16 inch in 45LC. Ammo is pricey but classic caliber and beefier. I'm thinking about putting a scout mount and scout scope on her.
Rossi and their customer service....The best reason the buy a Marlin
I have one stainless 16 inch barrel large loop marked one of five hundred no safety.I know its older ive never seen another one let alone a write up on one.Anyone out there ever seen one?.45 long colt.
The load gate and filing issue might not be a big deal on a stainless model, but it isn't such a simple process on blued. You'd to reblue the beveled/filed area, and that's more of a hassle.
+standish92k Bluing touch up pen does fine job after the fluff.
Slight dilemma, I've got a .44 mag Winchester 94, and two .357 revolvers. I'd like to have .357 carbine to match the revolvers, but I'd also like to have a .44 mag revolver to match the rifle.
Too many guns not enough FUNDS!!!
Great video lead in! Really like that and the backdrop is really great as the camo is distracting. The neutral backdrop really draws the viewer to you and what you are talking about. Really nice review on the Rossi. I have been kicking tires on them and was looking for a good review. Good job Matt!
Excellent gun, I have one in .357 and one in .44 magnum
I love my M92 in 44mag
Same.
Nice gun! Great for coyotes!
Yeah the stainless is a little hard to come by, thats why I paid a little more for it but it was worth it
I looked at one today. It was $750. Pandemic prices.
Jessie James used one chambered in .223 to shoot the trains off the tracks, that he was robbing. At least that's what Jessie Jackson told me.
Wow really a 1892 in 30 30 or 45 70 don't think so
How does it handle .357 magnum ? I've seen some reviews that give me the impression that this model deos not digest certain .357 well, and accepts 38 Special more readily.
now get a single action army 4;inchbbl. to go with it a good side draw holster and your set
I'd advise to get one and go have fun ! DO IT !! Life's to short !
Ouch. I purchased one in 2021 for 1k in cali 😭
Sure do like mine! .38spl/.357
I've shot Blazer, Winchester, Remington and Hornady through this and its functioned perfectly with all of them
not anymore man! those things are upwards of 600 or more!
That's a great looking gun. Ever since my wife bought one, now I want my own. They are so fun to shoot.
Sharing is caring.
I really like this gun, but it has two weaknesses, in my opinion. One, for an older guy like me whose eyes are crap, the traditional buckhorn sights suck. I had to replace my factory sights. Two, the top eject system makes this carbine hard to scope. (That's why later Winchesters switched to an angle eject system.) The gun is drilled and tapped for a scope rail, which is available as an accessory from Rossi direct. You'll need a scout scope and higher comb on the stock.
Putting a scope on it kind of defeats the purpose of a small lightweight carbine.
Yeah that thing will tear your thumb up
Over the years I have owned 3 of these.... two in .45 Colt. one an 18" carbine and a 22" long rifle... My present one is a 20" in .44mag, and with rifle loads (a bit hot for a pistol) it will hit about 1900fps with 240gr JHPs...and that's serious medicine on just abut anything to 200 yards.
These are great wee rifles at a very good price. The Rossis are sometimes a bit gritty in the action, my first two were fine but the one I have now did need a bit of work (an hour or so if you know what you're doing) and now it's silky smooth, fully the equal of a 'real' Winchester, a few dozen of which I have worked on recently due to the silly new laws in New Zealand.
I use a light load for Western shooting..... 200gr LRNFP that I case myself and load ahead of a medium load of pistol powder (usually Titegroup because I have a fair bit of it and it works well). The heavy 'full house' loads are usually 240gr Hornady XTPs ahead of about 24 grains of AR2205, an Australian (ADI) made fast rifle powder that is excellent for this task...gives top velocities in the .22 Hornet too.
These wee Rossis are great.... get one in the calibre of your choice... but .45 Colt is sometimes hard to find.... and if you do hot loads in .45LC you'll have to make very sure they never get into an 1873 revolver... :-)
The '92 is never made in 30-30 by the way... you need a '94 for that
Ive loved the looks of these guns and have looked at a few over the past years and have pasted them up bc it wasn't the model i was looking for, i wanted tge 20" stainless model and i finnally found one a few weeks ago and it was chambered in 454 casull.... needless to say i bought it ($749.00+tax) witch is a little high but with the pandemic and bought out inventory prices are up. I really love this gun, the place i bought it has alot of 454casull ammo at a good price ($35.99a/box) so that wasn't a problem but now want one in 357magnum lol nice review
nice "The Crow" reference tat on your left forearm. One of my favorite movies.
I don't shoot competition
44-40 the original cowboy action
Yeah thats a nice little carbine
Yeah a Ranch Hand and a Vaquero is a sweet pair
I wanna get one of these in 44-40
Unfortunately, these are no longer offered in that chambering. There are only .45 Colt and .38/.357 versions now.
I purchased my ,actually, second Rossi .44-40 some ten or twelve years ago. I did see a video a couple months ago featuring ...I think he said it was a Taurus 92 in .44-40(?) I never new Taurus to make anything but handguns. The video was in Spanish so it might be marketed to Europeans.
Yeah theres just something about a lever gun
Now they are going for $659, they’ve become very popular and hard to find (especially with 16” barrel).
Sometimes I wish I'd bought the stainless instead of the blued version in .357. If I ever get a .44 Mag version, that one will be stainless.
And in 45 Colt caliber too
i own this one in 44. mag, just saying
Good point
Few things, I'm looking real hard at the trapper model in stainless, the safety can be replaced with a peepsite there is a guy online offering those, and the stock from the 92 does fit the Rossi Ranch hand. Just saying. Yeah, really thinking about getting one.
Yup, it'll lay a coyote down real quick
Good idea
Thats a hell of a Christmas present
Yeah there's nothing quite like that sound
I have the 16" barrel in 45 colt with the stainless reciever. I did a saftey delete and put on the big john Wayne style lever
I've got the .480 Ruger Puma Rossi 16" lil' cowboy cannon, neon sights
Junk! sale it buy a Henry .
Just got the stainless for $529. Looks like they now bevel out the loading gate now. Great gun!
Thanks 4 watching
Thanks 4 watching brother
$569 is the norm now !!
Yup
Well its a good brand, I'm really happy with it
Oh yeah, lever guns are a lot of fun
Glad ya liked it, thanks 4 watching
Love the lever guns. I had to get the Ranch hand in .45LC same as my Vaquero like you said. Another great review!
Thanks 4 watching
Yeah u can
Thanks
1894 is a damn nice gun
Thats a good plus
Not a bad video, has some inaccuracies, but otherwise OK. I have four of these.
Thanks brother
I have one in 357 mag, I’m looking for a stainless steel 92 in 45 colt
Hell yeah it was
Oh yeah, that ain't cheap
I have wanted a pistol caliber lever action, and that rifle looks like a candidate.
Thanks for the video.
That is very cool,I love the pistol cal levers.
Sweet, I have a Henry's mare's leg in .22. I want a 357/38 full length rifle. Sweet gun!
