Is Islay the only place to find excellent peated whisky?
Can a Speyside distillery really compete in the 'Peat Wars'?

    Notes from The Balvenie:
Eager to experiment with The Balvenie profile using what he had learnt from a recent trip to Islay, distillery manager Ian Millar ordered a batch of Speyside peat for the kiln. For a week a year, The Balvenie distills a batch of peated malt, resulting in a whisky rich in honey, vanilla and citrus notes with an extra layer of delicate smokiness.

This is one of my favorite scotches. Along with Caol ila 12, Lagavulin 16, Lagavulin 11 OE (new), Talisker Distillers Edition, Laphroaig 10, and Nikka Whisky Single Malt Yoichi. Try all of those, btw!
Also, I paid 98.00 USD for The Balvenie Week of Peat 14 yesterday. North Florida.

That’s a great price! Man we love US markets, stinks we don’t have the same pricing up here.
You named a bunch of our faves too. Will have a neck pour session coming soon with the Talisker Distillers edition, and once that Guiness Cask Offerman makes it’s way to Ontario we will be grabbing that.
We have a pairing with Lag 16 and the first Offerman posted on our channel. Thanks for watching and the comment David!
