i was seriously trying to figure out why i kept coming back to alison’s videos and then i saw her kitchen tour and it hit me.... she’s not playing it up for the cameras. this is what she loves doing and it’s real life in her kitchen. she didn’t get professionally organized for the cameras, this is really what she’s about. it’s endearing.
Ive watched this video several times. I adore Alisons enchanted kitchen with hanging plants in the window and the tiny stove to the glass front cabinets filled with all of her culinary treasures. I too collect kitchen stuff and refuse to part with pieces because of my attraction to them. If you love it, keep it and make it work. Alison welcomes us in with no excuses or apologizes and batches up some of the best food with ease and simplicity that makes her so approachable. I'm a huge fan! Keep going Alison "This girl is on fire"!
Alison is the most down to earth, easy to relate to cooking personality I've seen in a long time. I think that is expressed in her recipes, and I am proud to support her.
All of your videos make me feel so happy. Between this, iconic eats with Tess, and Julia*** (girl I am so sorry) eats everything, this channel makes me forget about the bad parts of my day. I love you all.
I LOVE Alison Roman and now even more so cause I also LOVE anchovies and lemons and garbannzo beans! I think she needs her own cooking show on Food Network!!
Here for all my people who have 40 notebooks going on at all times. Oh, and nutritional yeast on popcorn?? Yes, I rarely meet others who do this, but it's how I grew up. So good.
I love that you told us how you use preserved lemons! I made a big jar using a Joanne Harris recipe and they sat in the fridge for a looong time. Looked gorgeous but only used occasionally w chicken! Thanks girl!!

Watched your home video and enjoyed your enthusiasm and down to earthiness very much. Have made your Chickpea Stew twice now and it rocks. This from a simple older single guy trying to feed himself as the world goes literally to pot! Thanks much for the pick me up!
I was thinking the same! In her videos it looks smaller because they only show the area between the table and the stove/fridge, but the room is actually pretty big! It has so much character and she's made it her own, I love it
@@jramsey9690 you're missing the point, there's not much space for the actual cooking. Her oven is smaller than all home ovens I've seen before (and I've always lived in a city, in Europe, not even North America).
the moving of the plants to try and convey some sense of attention or care for them, lol. I love this video though, very relatable, especially the notebooks
Hey, Alison! I just discovered you from your NPR appearance today. You are adorable and I related to your kitchen staples and plants so well. Going to try out The Stew recipe this week. Thanks for the tour. 🙂
Holy sh*t, Alison Roman is the successful-in-life version of me! I have 3-5 notebooks going on at any given time, I collect things that I mean to give away or give to people in the most random places in my home, and my mind works in that same stream-of-consciousness flow. #solidarity
That's just the reality of New York City real estate, as it turns out, most of us NYers have small apartments like this. Just gotta make due with whatcha got!
This looks like European kitchen, which is great! I hate completely empty showroom- style kitchens. Where are your pots and pans, and all fun gadgets!?!?
Love all the wonderful dishes that come out of that tiny and super basic kitchen! Shows you don’t need fancy high-end appliances or gadgets to make great food.
I love seeing real kitchens and homes. Not high end glamourous kitchens, but real kitchens, with mid-range appliances, and clean dishes drying next to the sink, and lots of ingredients sitting next to the stove because they actually prepare meals in the kitchen. Just like my kitchen. Those are my people!!!
I love her videos. Lots of good cooking tips with a very laid back approach. She’d be fun to hang with, I’m sure, but I guess I’ll probably have to settle for more videos.
The Effortless Naturalista Yeah obviously but like if part of her job is recipe development she could just claim all her grocery shopping is a business expense lol
I can relate on those 'expired' stuff in the fridge! I don't care what people say about throwing away waaay past due dates... I taste then and they taste good, nothing off.... so I keep them and use little by little on the rare times I need to. I only keep expired foods that are not moldy and still taste the same though, NOT otherwise.
For all the people itching to organize this kitchen....understand that some people have a "preference" for organized spaces. Others (like me) don't share that preference. Organized people look at unorganized space and see a "mess"--others of us see "possibilities"--and know (mostly) where everything is.
Nice relatable kitchen. Something that makes you show watch even more Alison. Loved the Yellow and Orange colored pans with wooden handles. Could you tell where'd you get those from?

Ikea, Best Buy ever! I’m looking to buy a house and its hard work to remind myself not to base the decision on whether this island will fit in or not. 😕
Being partly obsessive-compulsive, I can relate to Alison Roman stacking all the dishes and kitchenware right into the sink only to be taken care of the following day. A lazybone's ultimate illusion of organization.
Really like her vids! I have like 5 notebooks going at all times 😂😂. Btw you don’t need to refrigerate those Luxardo cherries even after they are open (it has that info on the back of jar too). It will crystallize in the fridge. Just in case you want to save fridge space 😂😂
You clean it. Honestly, it’s possible: we had our oven repaired once, and those guys cleaned it as well - it looked like new, I couldn’t believe it. I really don’t want to know what kinds of chemicals they used, though.
No. I LOATHE and despise this “thing” these days about being “organised” Having some stranger come into your life and tell you how to do things? Yeah, you can shove that. She is as organised as she needs to be. She knows where everything is just as is the case with EVERY good cook I’ve met, NONE of whom have “insta ready” kitchens. One thing I have noticed is that the best food comes from kitchens where colour coded storage isn’t a priority.
Did I see that right? In the last second, it looked like she shut the door with the keys hanging on the outside. Also, inspirational to see the space where so many great recipes have been developed. .
What's your favorite part of her kitchen?? ✨
The table
The prep table.
her chest
The stack of gifts for friends purchased in March.....:-)
Alison's character is my favorite part of her kitchen. Actually, it's my favorite part of NYC.

Thank god finally someone whose house doesn't look 'extremely' organized and huge and professionally decorated! Thank you!!!
So in essence, her kitchen is disgusting like in the average home.
