Paula, thank you so much for this video and the previous ones. I made a wall flower following your video and it came out well enough for a newbie. You’re so patient with your description-hope you’ll remain this way :-)
Thanks that was helpful. As a beginner I often need to see examples, results pre and post firing etc. I’m using a grogged clay that will be fired to sculpture temp..these are sculpture pieces for outside…but I want a wash of colours not a solid glazed look. The background will be left to its finish colour as a warm sandstone look. Hope to use a Matt finish glaze. Will this idea work?
You can certainly finish with a wash of glaze or oxides or underglazes, it all depends on what finish you want. You can mix them up and layer too. I would suggest though, if you're after a particular finish that it is definitely worth testing out ideas before committing to a finish on a piece that you are attached to. You can make a few test tiles and pop them through the kiln first just to be sure that you're likely to get what you want.
Hmmm, I would think that it would depend on whether the paint will work over the spray varnish you used... If it does, I see no reason why you couldn't. I'm assuming it's not glaze but acrylic paint or similar?
You may need to do a small test area to make sure that the paint will do what you want and/or sand it down before painting, but I would think you should be good with the right paint :)@@denicenicola1805

I have a bisque piece, that I painted and spray varnished it, now the lady wants to change the color of the finished piece, can I paint over it?
