These people weren't just lyricists, they were writers and thinkers steeped in poetry and literature. That's why the quality of the words is deep and meaningful, and has been a major factor in these songs having such a long shelf life. This is hard to translate, so kudos on the subs! For similar of Rafi, you can do - Abhi na jao, Ehsaan tera hoga, Is rang badalti duniya mein, Tum jo mil gaye ho, and many more. Sadhna was gorgeous and extremely popular, a striking screen presence, and a decent actress. She was dubbed Indian Audrey Hepburn, due to similar facial structures and the classic fringe hairstyle.
Lyricists from the time were very daring. God, Government, Parents, Lovers,Addiction, Depression,Suicide...nothing was exempt. Very cynical and fearless. As a listener you have to live life a little and suffer a couple of disappointments to truly 'get' it.
This actress called Sadhana was very popular and had a haircut named after her, called the Sadhana Cut. She never revealed herself to the camera in her old age. She said she wants her fans to remember her as she looked in her young age.
Sadhana was actually ill which is why her face disfigured. She did do a last ramp walk with Ranbir Kapoor. She died alone without children. She is cousin is Kareena Kapoors mother.
My neighbor who is manglorean, (she's obviously quite old now)used to be a cook for Sadhana ji's home in Mumbai during her peak for about 4-5 years span. It lends a twinkle in her eyes when she remembers those times. She talks about a lot of guests she used to cook for during the script or other sessions.
Rafi Sahab would actually modify the throw of his voice to make it sound like the actor was singing the song himself. Even in this song you can hear that Rajendra Kumar touch in Rafi Sahab's voice. Lovely choice guys. Love the song, the subtitles definitely did justice to the original lyrics, and your reaction👍👍

The best subtitles I have ever read. Did full justice to the song... Same song is also repeated by Lata and filmed on the actress later in the movie. The actress is Sadhana. She was called the Audrey Hepburn of India. The director who introduced her in her debut movie "Love in Shimla" and later married her was a fan of Audrey Hepburn. he gave her the fringe hair cut that became famously known as the "Sadhana Cut" and still referred to by that name in India. She was also called the "mystery" girl since a lot of her movies were mystery movies where the mystery revolved around her. She was also the FIRST producer who hired the famed and recently deceased choreographer Saroj Khan as an independent choreographer in her movie "Geeta Mera Naam". Some of her other memorable songs are given below which are worth your time and you would not ever regret reacting to: Song: Jhumka Gira Re: Movie: Mera Saaya: Choreography by legendary SAROJ KHAN! Singer: Asha Song: Kaun Aaya ke nigahon mein: Movie: Waqt, Singer: Asha Song: Nainon Mein Badra Chaaye, Movie: Meera Saaya, Singer: Lata Song:O Sajna, Barkha bahaar aayee, Movie: Parakh, Singer: Lata Song: Mila Hai Kisi Ka Jhumka, Movie: Parakh, Singer Lata Song: Mere Mehboob Tujhe Meri Mohabbat, Movie: Mere Mehboob, Singer: Lata Song: Aji rooth kar ab kahan , Movie: Aarzoo, Singer: Lata Song: Bedardi Baalma tujhko mera mann , Movie: Aarzoo, Singer: Lata Song: Tera Mera Pyaar amar, Movie: Asli Naqli, Singer: Lata There are many more in her repertoire but these are and will always be legends in the indian film industry's song collection. Lata herself considers Sadhana to be one of the actresses who did great justice to her voice and "fitted" her voice nicely. Sadhana was also the only actress who legendary actress Meena Kumari reportedly referred to as someone who could take her place in the film industry when such a question was posed to her. She has no children. Unfortunately she developed a thyroid problem at a very young age that effected her eyes and looks greatly and she left films never to return again and was only seen publicly in the last days of her life due to a property court case and in a charity fashion show for cancer patients. She herself succumbed to cancer. A lovely and talented actress.....

Rick, Korbin - I enjoy your channel, but whenever it comes to Rafi’s songs I find you both tend to be so distracted by peripheral issues (the sets, the lip-synching actors, even the lyrics), that you seem to completely miss the glory and genius of Rafi’s voice. Rafi didn’t employ the gimmicks and fireworks that are typical with today’s singers, but his is still one of the greatest male voices you will hear in your lifetime. The enormous vocal range, the effortless and crystal-clear transitions between even the most difficult of notes, the subtle nuances and ornamental touches, the beautiful pronunciation of the lyrics, the uncanny ability to align his voice with the personality of the lip-synching actor, the unique timbre and tone of voice and above all, the sheer EMOTION with which he sang - and all without the aid of auto-tune. Take all of that together and I don’t believe there is a male singer dead or alive who can match the total package. Or, to quote Lata Mangeshkar - “there never was such a voice as Rafi and there won’t be, even in a hundred years”. Just compare any hot wannabe-Rafi singer’s live rendition of a Rafi song to the original, and you immediately notice the vast gulf in ability and, especially, craftsmanship. (I offer up Sonu Nigam's live version of ‘Meh yeh soch kar’ as an example). So here's my tip on how to best experience a Rafi song. Don’t worry about the lyrics (you can always check the translation later). Just lean back on your sofa, close your eyes … and let the river of silk and emotion that is Rafi’s voice flow over you.

Mohammed Rafi mesmerised in every genre of song and style. Also he did complete justice to the hero's personality...notice the deep chesty voice reserved for Rajendra Kapoor. Similiarly he had a lilting head voice for Dev Anand, a throaty voice for Dilip saab, higher range for Shammiji, gravelly voice for Rishi, modified pronunciation to sound like Jhonny walker....and so on...

Ultimate song of LOVE. Beautiful lyrics. Classic "old is gold" movie. Mohd. Rafi, legendary singer.
Mohammad Rafi is said to have God's voice...Sooo very true..
You have just listened the voice of God
Mohammed Rafi sab
Rafi was divine.
भारत के गौरव गायक रफ़ी साहब दिल से नमन 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏....
Rafi Sahab is one of the greatest singers of India.
U should do more videos on Mohammed Rafi songs....he is a lengend and being worshiped in India...there is no one till now like him 👍
Mohammed Rafi mesmerised in every genre of song and style.
Rajendra Kumar, sorry.
This amazing poetry is like vanished from existence
Beautiful song & Awesome translation...
