Well I didn't build such a lovely wooden drying rack, but I did fit one of those retractable reel lines today. It's been sat in the box for 7 years, but with electricity being as expensive as it now is, I thought I'd better fix it up and start showing the neighbours my smalls 😀
@@TheCarpentersDaughterUK Hell, I'd be in the market for one, my little beast drives me crazy with her constant demands. Something with an automatic reloader and a conical bucket for her to drop the ball into so it funnels to the throw point. On second thought, most dogs would probably get bored fairly soon as I think they like the interaction with a human stupid enough to cater to them. I notice mine likes to jump and catch things on the fly rather than chase and pick up. I see a difference in her run back. Still, you might find a good market for it :)
This is a great idea. I don't know why these are not common in the US. I live in a low humidity area and this would work great. I'll build some and see how it saves me on electricity.
If you have heat, these are great! I've often had coated metal ones.. buy they break after a while. But I've always loved being able to fold them away or move them to any room in the house to follow the sun.. or garden!
Really enjoy the practical way you approach your work. You could check the gearing in the top of your pillar drill - slower speed gives more power to the bit and is a bit more accurate and so safer than using hand drill for some jobs. Great design - thanks for sharing it.
@@TheCarpentersDaughterUK There's a few dodgy ones but I liked this one: ua-cam.com/video/YzNWuumF-L8/v-deo.html from WEN products. It's a bit of a faff but can be really useful for big bit or drilling metal where you need a slower speed. Good luck.
Hey vikkie, nice idea.you should get yourself to lidl though and get yourself some forstner bits.im well impressed with mine.and if you put a block of wood under it.the tear out is minimal to none existant, well done again mate.proper bird. 👍😅
Thanks, Mick :) I have a set from Aldi or Lidl, but in the last two projects, I found I didn't have the right size 😬 Think I need to buy a bigger set 😂
@@TheCarpentersDaughterUK yeah that's the only downside really. I had the same problem. So I bought some off amazon. I got all te sizes I need now for what I do . looking forward to seeing your next project mate.😊
Don't forget a standard roundover bit can work of the face as well as the edge! Obviously the bearing could snag on the dowels, but that is an easy sanding job ;o) Or if you want to go Old School you could set your plane fine and take the corner off that way ... even making it rounded! If you are worried about stripping those screws out you can pull them out one by one and add a drop of wood glue in the hole. Then screw back in and you have a hardened wood fixing ....... It is a bugger to get the screws out afterwards though! ;o)

Good thinking on the screws! And yes, love the idea of extra routered detail!
This looks like nest making behavior, is a cot next on the list?

You don't have to make a clothes horse to have a good time.
