Yes 100%! Once they started using indigenous woods, ex. Koa, and using GCEA tuning, which comes from the Portuguese 5-string instrument the Rajao, DGCEA, it is definitely a Hawaiian or Hawai’i built instrument cultivated by the many ethnicities in Hawai’i!
