Paver can only be good for open areas. You want good quality work sometimes it’s better to do it by hand. Here in California this job would pay nicely for me.
This job looks awesome 👏 Properly finished. I just had mine done, and it didn’t look anywhere close to the amount of work/care you guy did. I don’t know if it’s just for this video, but fantastic work. Keep it up !👍
Hi Peter, Thank you very much 😊. We put that same effort in every driveway. Each one has it's own challenges of course. Hope you get to watch our other videos and subscribe. All the best to you in the seasons ahead!
Been watching videos on paving thinking abt getting mine done here soon and just getting some info on right from wrong etc, from all the videos I have watched so far I would hire you nice work, I like how your crew looks all areas over several times and they seem to actually care abt the little things and doing it good, I am about to start getting estimates soon and want to get it done right ,what’s the best way to check out a paving company to make sure there trustworthy
Hi Tcr Wild Thank You, I think you'll want to know how long they have been in business. Is the estimate fair and you want to go check out other recent work they have done. You might even see them actually paving something. All the details that matter to you like clean edges, proper compaction, good mix, keeping things clean, and a good finish. Also the prep work is absolutely key. Is your base good or do you need digging. How they find grade and make sure you have proper run off. A good prep leads to a good pave.
It is interesting how each paving company does things different. I worked for a company and wherever the roller couldn't go we used a vibratory plate like your Mikasa. Alot of companies use Skid steer loaders when trucks can't get to the paver. Did that driveway have a slight invert in the middle to drain water? If it didn't it looks like your screed in the middle was dragging stone. all the rolling would be done with a machine like your Cat, it looks like a CC10. I have also seen companies use a combi roller with a stel wheel in front and smooth rubber tires in back. It kneeds the asphalt. Then they hit it with a finish roller.
@@SaultAsphaltPaving Decisions Decisions The Excavator would be nice for tear outs, But the skid steer you could use like to grade that little taper on the last job you did. Something the backhoe can't do.
I can see just from this video that the angle of attack is off. Not much fun paving with no compaction on the extensions. A little more angle and drop the extensions down a touch and that should get rid of the extension drag.
I'm not sure if you're able to do this, but for next video can you do an in depth review at how you re-pave a driveway? I'm 13 and I really want to get into this business but it's hard finding a good video on UA-cam. Thanks.
Hey Lawn Care, I will think on what I can do. But if you want to fire some questions at me you can reach me at SaultAsphaltInc@gmail.com I will help you best i can. There are also some knowedgeable followers on here that may kick in some info. for you.
@@SaultAsphaltPaving thank you looks like you guys do a great job!! I thought about doing sealent here in my area but I want to use the oil or coal base not sure which brand yet. I want it to stay shiny black for awhile I seen a guy that does big lots gets his somewhere in Ohio. I see tons of small drive ways not touched I see that as a weekend opportunity... thank you
Hi John, you are right he does basically everything. He is the owner and wears many hats. To be honest it seems like we are working harder now than when we started. It's a high turnover rate here which does not help.
Probably because the mix wasn't hot enough, no smoke, cold mix doesn't compact as much as hot mix. I found it odd to finish with a plate compactor seeing if its rolled right a plate won't do a thing to compacted asphalt.
so glad that double steel was at the end, i was wondering "is this man really going to handroll this entire driveway?"
Never seen that much hand work in my life with a paver setting there lol

You have really made me question some of my compaction methods and protecting my base more than I do. Thanks for the videos I really enjoy them.
Thank you very much RJ. Happy new year and more to come in the new season.
I never felt like dancing during an asphlat video before

REGULATORSSSSSSS MOUNT UP!
Ha ha Awesome Jon We've been saying that for years! 😁
Absolutely no one with paving videos on UA-cam and I mean no one can touch your music!
Thank you Brandon 🙂
Smoking looking job nice finish looks like you got a new roller hadn’t seen it before cat Roller looks nice👍👍
They had that last year.
Hi Sandra Thank you, the roller is in other videos. It had some electrical issues that needed some work.
Do you do in Long Island?

There was a little drag going on in the middle. We are considering a new skid steer but we are also interested in a new excavator.

what's that liquid they've used on the roller? Is that something to bond the asphalt?
it’s usually diesel fuel it’s so the asphalt doesn’t stick to surfaces
It’s 100% water

That's true Buster, there were a few details we had to work out on that one.

@@rogerl8488 Hi Roger fuel oil, but it has to be used right.

Might as well do the whole job by hand.
Jeez, hope the Operator/Raker has a good pay rate, doing what looks like 3 jobs at once. Hope he does otherwise I'd request more or quit cause wow...

Can't you tell he's the owner , makes everyone wear a hardhat but doesn't wear one lol
Something is wrong with your extensions on both sides.
Not much compaction here.
