Watching it as a kid and then watching it as an adult are two very different experiences. As the child of divorce, it's much harder to sympathize with Robin Williams' character when you're grown up. Still a great movie though.
Great essay! I saw this film for the first time as an adult, and found myself sympathizing with the mother more. But as a child, I'm sure I would have preferred Robin William's character and resented the mother.
As a kid: Funny yet very silly. I was even afraid of the scenes where he'd remove his mask. As an adult: Wow this movie isn't sugarcoating divorce and I wonder why Miranda didn't cop on to Daniel being Mrs Doubtfire with all the phone calls. Shouldn't she know that her ex is a former voice actor. But I don't go into the cons I see it as a film about what divorce is and that not everyone gets back together. Hilarious film with excellent make up effects.

Totally agree!

Totally! The casting was spot on. Sally Field is so likeable in her own way. But Robin Williams is so empathetic for kids.
2:57 That transition
It was fun to do!
YES this is exactly what I’ve been thinking this whole time
Watching as an adult is a whole other ballgame!

It's a great film that works on different levels!
