I'm a fence contractor and I have had a $250 small amazon jack hammer like the one in the video. Literally best purchase of a tool ever. Same price of a Dewalt impact. It's the perfect size for hammering the concrete out of corner posts. Had it for 4 years and haven't changed the oil once lol.
I put a very similar budget demo hammer on my truck about a year ago, it has paid for itself 100 times over. Yes it takes up space and the case probably won't last more than a job or two, but when you need it, it's there, and I can run it off my 3k inverter in my cab or the generator.
I typically have more of the “buy once, cry once” mentality with tools. But Vevor and Harbor Freight are often the best compromise when the employees never take care of the tools the boss buys, but you also can’t afford to have them spend a week busting concrete with a bar and sledge.
I have the sledge and the jackhammer. Both are great tools. If it is 100 degrees outside, I go for the jackhammer. If it is 65 degrees out, I am on the sledge hammer. Sledge work is the best therapy / exercise until it gets super hot out and then I go for the jackhammer.
I am in the middle of replacing a fence at my daughter’s house. 1/2 of the fence was redone by a company about 5 years ago before she bought the house. Luckily for me they only dug the holes 12 to 18 inches. We were able to pull 16 posts out in a weekend. I had to go back and dig them down 30 inches. After a couple of posts, I went and bought an auger, that was a life saver.
I bought a vevor jackhammer like that a year ago for my fencing business. It has paid for itself many times over. We use ours a couple times a week and it has never let us down. I just bought a vevor core drill and I’m hoping it’ll be the same way.
Funny that this video popped up today - I have been building my first (& hopefully last) vinyl fence with my stepson at his new place in West Virginia - near Harper’s Ferry - 20 post holes to dig - rented a walk behind auger with a 9” bit - NOPE - the ground there is hard packed clay with lots & lots of large chunks of granite - rented a 35lb Jack hammer and in 3 weekends we finally have all of the holes done. - the auger was not completely useless but the Jack hammer is what saved us from disaster (all of your videos on vinyl fence & gate assembly are 100% appreciated - big thank you)
I live in Northern Kentucky and we have a bunch of super thick fairly hard limestone that I had to deal with when digging post holes for my deck. This jack would've been cheaper than the tool rental haha.
Yes - each time I rented the Jack hammer it cost $136 day - totally worth it but if I was doing this work on the regular I would buy a good one & keep it on my truck full time
First thing I'd look for if I got one, is an adapter for driving pipes/posts/rebar into the ground. I saw a deck contractor install weird little concrete deck piers, secured into the ground by driving 4 pipes about 5 feet long, through the precast holes in the piers. Busting concrete and digging through hard/frozen ground is great, but you might as well use it for driving stuff also.
I welded up an adapter for my Chinese jackhammer for driving tposts and pipe. I have weak crappy welding skills, but got it built and it works great. Home gamer - can’t justify buying a dedicated post driver.
Always keep a P100 with spare filters in the truck. Prefer the 3m stuff but if you’re broke the HF mask is $30 and filters are like $10. Meets NIOSH. Lot cheaper than medical bills
My generac generator has never let me down. It's sat almost a year with the same gas and starts after a couple of pulls. Never let me down yet. 8 years old.
Great video as always, we have the cheaper electric jack hammers on each truck, works great and you always have it ready to go. We also have had the gas powered ones but both are great. We just buy new ones every couple years. Bigger projects the air compressor jack hammer 💪
i have always wondered why they dont have 24" extensions for that tool type to dig a decent deep hole. I am sure some energy is lost, but wouldn't it still be very useful?
I bought one for a job and just charged the weekly rental rate for the same size one from the rental store and made 250 profit. Any tools that I don’t use that often I buy Vevor
Wow everyone seems to be finding out about Vevor. I've used them for years. Would i recommend for hard use everyday all day probably not. You want get something done cheaper than rental this is it and it lasts. Have 10" core drill and has served me great over the years.
Some of the Vevor jackhammers look pretty good. I can't help rolling my eyes, though, when they make ridiculous claims about the power output. Some of their jackhammers, running on 120VAC, claim to have 3,600W motors, which is just plain dishonest. The most you'll get out of a conventional 15A circuit is 1,800W. Now, having said that, if you ignore the advertising BS, the tools themselves seem pretty decent for the money. I'm thinking about one for myself, to dig out a solid clay basement.
We have the same problem in Australia. You get manufacturer claims of over 2800 watts. But the most you pull from our domestic (10 Amp / 240 volt AC power points) is 2400watts.
I bought a breaker for my mini excavator. wasting hours smacking posts seem dumb to me. also the cost difference for concrete with metal is not higher then the labour rate to remove the post . often I will cut the post at concrete level and send it to recycler, the small amount in the post they often dont charge me for. the metal charge is mostly for rebar as it is labour intensive to remove before they can crush it
Greetings all, I'm a 61 year old odd ball who has sunk a half dozen 4x4 posts 36" into the ground (Florida soil) using a method I don't recall you mentioning. I"m not fond of trying to solidify disturbed soil, so I have developed a way to get the post deep without a huge cone. I'd like to share a photo of my very cheap method. What email address may I send it to? Thanks! (Oh, and it's very similar to my patented 'iSuck' system. heh heh)

Amazing, I was already eyeing the Vevor electric jack hammer, for private application!

A valid point, but we would just reach for an actual post driver at that point. ua-cam.com/video/4YoOlrG2pqI/v-deo.html

That concrete dust will destroy your lungs .
Silicosis from the sand, sodium hydroxide (lye) is pretty caustic, and many polymer and additive in there...
Always keep a P100 with spare filters in the truck.

I'm starting to like them. 👍🏻
Bought this for digging posts in wet clay 4 months ago and really impressed with the bang for the buck.
I'm more and more impressed with Vevor as a "bang for your buck" brand.
I just bought a DOT package REDI driver from you guys…looks like I’m buying a Vevor 🤣. Love the videos guys
Awesome, Just what i was looking for. just ordered one!
Fun fact the harbour freight jack hammer prick fits in skidril drivers... they may fit in others

We are in New England and use them to break through frozen ground to start holes. Work good to start your holes and concrete 💪
Wow ... Good to know as I install urbanite labyrinths and this would be a great tool to have 😊

What about if you put a chisel or spade with a fitting for the gas powered post driver??? wouldn´t that work just as well and cheaper?
Got mine delivered today, quite nice looking.
Nice! What are you going to do with it?
I love my $400 used 35# Makita. Total life saver!
If you can wait aliexpress has the same Jack hammer for less than $100. Just a different name on it.

I didn't know they'd been around that long.

that being said I do have a couple of cordless Milwaukee 18v fuel sds max breakers for when it has to be done
we have a off brand genie, its in the shop they said parts are months away. and I have a 2200 honda that actually works as advertised...
I have the same vector jackhammer! It's great!
Autocorrect changed vevor to vector lol
would that work well on thick roots?
I dunno... I would think so
I got one from Harbor Freight for $450, and it works great.
Do yall still use those octagon posts?
Generac the company are scum and don't properly back up their warranties in my opinion
great tool for the money but it doesn't take the 1 1/8 attachments. that's too bad.
Vevor is good value for throw away tools... but its like knock off harbour freight
What’s with all the smoke/steam(?)
Ever push steel posts with a 135 John Deer excavator? That size hoe or bigger will surprise you. Done it many times.
I'd think somebody woth your experience would be a better sledge operator 😂
Let the hammer do the work!
I had a feeling I was going to get a comment like this. 😆👍🏻
@SWiFence - I figured it was intentional 🫣
Fasten your seatbelts and remove your dentures!
Pretty much! 😁

Flip flops in the shop this week?? You aren't going to be needing them anyway since the 14 months of Wyoming winter is just around the corner.
Yeah, just keeping my toeseys warm today. 😆
Its ok
All bad advice bring back downvotes

So far I've been impressed.
