Thanks. I bought SE - this is my first drone and I agree with your assessment. It is suitable for non-extreme filming and can replace a tripod and camera crane. I think 2.7K will be enough for me for the near future. And in terms of efficiency, the Mini is very good. I think this direction of drones will develop.

I just took delivery of a Mini 2. Flew it yesterday. Sat 26 Feb. It was windy but it performed beautifully. Thanks for the info.

Very solid review! I like how you point out the strong points of the mini 2 without bashing on the other versions. I just wish they had included the better signal transmission to the SE. Other than that it would be absolutely sufficient to me in the below 250g class. I even believe it would not have hurt the sales of the mini2 as many people just want 4K. While it does look better, honestly 2.7K still looks amazing and it’s not the higher resolution that makes a great video.
I completely agree. The Mini SE is still an awesome drone with 2.7k and improved wind resistance. These three drones are astonishing and all have a place in the market 🚀

Oscar, I would get the Mini 2 as it has Ocusync 2.0 instead of Enhanced WiFi that the SE and Mini 1 uses.
Having the ability of 4k video as an option would be a deciding factor if I was buying a Mini

Your “Trail” you’re talking about can be adjusted in your settings, (and I believe) advanced gimbal settings, and where you change your yaw response and gimbal rotation speed… I know that’s where it is in my Mini 2… Idk about the Mini or the se…
Great, thank you! I didn’t realise this when I was looking through the gimbal settings. I didn’t even think about trying it 😂
You only have one or two things you can adjust in the Fly app "advanced gimbal settings" when flying the original Mavic Mini and I know yaw sensitivity is not adjustable. You don't have the same options you have with the Mini 2. There is no way to stop the yaw from overshooting unless you let the stick re-center early. I noticed that when I flew the Mini 2 for a while and decided to fix my original Mini. I thought I had damaged the little guy but it seems that is the way they are.

Sounds like the SE if buyer is on a budget, or the Mini 2 if they want the very best under 250g drone. I have the Mini 2 myself, got earlier this year and love it!

I think mini se sound is less noise than mini 1, or same like mini 2 sound, when i was watching other drone video.
I have the mini 2 and it was the best thing I could have done. The mini 2 is a beast 💪🏽 and I got up there plus I love the controller the 4k pictures and videos in 4k..

Good video! Am contemplating between the mini se and the mini 2 and am leaning towards the mini 2 atm. Mini 2 gets a bit expensive with the combo but I reckon the combo is more worth it than just the basic set

Great review! My mavic mini trails like that as well. Almost hit a tree from behind because of that!
That’s dangerous! I’m not a big fan of the trailing issue, it makes it hard to achieve subtle movements with the drone.
It’s not the drone, it’s the pilot. My mini with range extenders goes just as far if not further than a mini 2. Shoots great video. Won’t need an upgrade for a while!

Greetings from Oaxaca, MExico, i have the Mini 1, and i think both grill holes on SE and Mini 2, is not necessarily better, cuz on practice, they vacuum dust particles inside, and many of pilots like me use this marvelous drone on earth, woods, beaches etc,.As long as this unit does not overheat, there will never be a problem with the ventilation.
Agreed, as long as the drone can run at a cool temperature then either way works fine. You make a good point but that is why I always recommend taking off/landing in a dry, debris free area or hand launching 🖐
Yea I’ve never had a problem with overheating with mini 1 but maybe that’s cause I fly in Alaska
Recently purchased the Dji factory re furbished Mini2 combo $740 delivered vs mini SE Combo $$619 = $120 difference… a better deal i think.
I have had most if the DJI’s since the Phantom 1 for work, now retired i have sold the Spark for $500 as i needed more flying time 10mins vs 28-30mins per battery. Thanks for the video.

Oddly enough, The trailing issue that you mention can be easily fixed by adjusting the Gimble setting. By increasing the number from 0-100 or 0-10 your drone becomes more responsive and with the correct setting, the drone can come to a full stop on a dime or a rolling smooth start. I guess it depends on what you are using it for, filming or fun.

Yes, i have the original mavic mini and i also do not have this trailing issue whatsoever.
@@DansTubeTV yea… I know for my Mini 2 I can change it… I believe it’s adjustable for FPV flying so you have better control and you can drift around trees/objects as your correcting for your next manoeuvre
True but also there’s a noticeable different between the way he holds the stick on the Mini Vs the SE. On the mini, he kind of drags and lags on the stick carefully; look closely. On the SE he flicks it. Not saying there isn’t a drag, but it’s my observation. I enjoyed the review but I’d take that bit of information with a grain of salt (for those who haven’t purchased yet)
I definitely love the Mini 2 but if I didnt have it and I'm on a tighter budget, I wouldn't mind getting the Mini SE.

Great comparison Dan; I have also had the 3 x Drones and did some testing however focused on the Video quality; after looking at the 2.7k shot on the SE, there is no doubt the camera has been tweaked !; I believe (for different reasons) its actually better than the 4K Mini 2, probably due to some over sharpening of the image; I also compared it to the Air 2 and it holds up pretty well ! Keep the comparisons coming !!!

@@dosomestuff1949 I have just purchased a Mini 1 which has the updated firmware which now allows "Pro Mode" with the Camera / Video settings, the quality is amazing!!! better image than the Mini 2 !!!!
@@julianmclean3869 pro mode(which the mini 2 also has) just allows u to adjust iso shutter exposure in video mode. Is the image itself sharper or smth cuz the mini 2 has 4k and in the comparisons I’ve seen the mini 2 is slightly better but not by much and it isn’t too noticeable

I have the original Mavic Mini and haven't anything to compare it too. My observations are that the controller very frequently drops connection with the drone and as you stated it is very subject to wind. Eventually I'll loose the drone and upgrade to a model with active tracking. Shame there's no way to upgrade with parts (propellers?) from the newer model.

I am still in the process in choosing but i would go for the SE since I’m on a tight budget but also i have no experience flying drones. I’m planning to keep on practicing with the SE and then when i feel more comfortable i can switch to higher models…My question is, what would happen if i lost connection with the SE? Would the drone return to it’s home base?
If the drone loses connection with the controller for more than 11 seconds then it will automatically return to home.

If you take the stickers off of the DJI mini holes are behind them. They don't have screens, but there are holes for more cooling.

I believe you can adjust the trailing you're referring to in the settings. Being a cinematic drone it's trying to make all the camera movements smooth.

hey there i’m looking at the mini se but i live in an urban area close to a lot of houses and trees and power lines and wi-fi lines would you suggest the upgrade to the mini 2 or stick to the se
I would suggest adventuring away from urban areas as you will find that the shots will be a little boring. I would suggest finding locations away from people and buildings. In these scenarios either drone will be fine. If you are set on urban flight then the Mini 2’s improved transmission will make a big difference.
@@DansTubeTV i’ll be around more urban areas then i can even explain since where i live isn’t close to non urban areas there’s a few but i would be definitely flying near urban areas more then anything

I don't think the lack of air intakes on the mini one cause any issue. The only reason the mini 2 and se even have that option is because they don't use forward obstacle detection. There is plenty of air that can enter into the body of the drone via the space above the gimbal
None of the mini drones have forward obstacle avoidance. Additional ventilation is a benefit - people have reported their Mini overheating on hot days and receiving error messages due to overheating hardware 🔥
@@DansTubeTV it's funny. The only time I've ever received a warning on the mini 1 was when it was on, and sitting on the ground with no fans spinning . It hadn't even flown that day, I was simply transferring data . The battery was toasty.
I'm still debating between getting the 2 or 3.
I already have an air2s and plan on getting a phantom/inspire for higher profile jobs.
So I'm leaning towards the 2 since it's cheaper and has the RAW capabilities and I really don't care much for the 3's sensor since I have the 2s. But I always second guess myself. Also the mini2 looks way better than the 3 imo lol

I think you're being unfair on the mavic mini here, some of us casual flyers wont be spemnding all our time flying and occasionally just want to mess around with it capture nice videos and pictures and the Mini 1 is more than capable.
I don't see the point in paying 200-250 more for a minor upgrade, (a real upgrade would be be the Air series) but for any first time buyer certainly save your money and go for the mini 1 you wont be disappointed. Not to mention having better portability with having a smaller controller that can easily slip into your pocket. I think while the mini 2 is better overall i cant see it being worth 600 euro when the mini 1 is under 400.

The Mini SE is a better option than the Mavic Mini for people who can get it in their country.
i have the mini 2 and the mini, imo any beginner should DEFINITALY pay that extra for the mini 2 it is so SO worth the upgrade
Anyone on a budget wanting to dip a toe into the small drone world will not go wrong with the original mini. There are some fantastic deals to be had if you search them out. I bought the mini when it first came out and love it. Waiting now for the mini 3 to upgrade or will upgrade to the mini 2 once the 3 is out and take advantage of the price drop. Depends on what upgrades the mini 3 brings along, for me it has to be better camera quality and function. Obstacle avoidance is low on my list.

I ordered a Mavic Mini off of eBay (open box) and instead they sent me a Mini SE (sealed boxes); after watching the vid I now know that the SE is the better of the two. I'm surprised at how steady the camera view is in windy conditions.

you forgot the MSDK, which appears only for their Mavic Mini. This is the way to fly with remote controllers like Litchi or Dronelink. Still not delivered for SE and Mini 2, makes the Mavic Mini to most used drone compared to the Mini 2
